Professor Saylor and his wife Tansy are newcomers to the university. Even thought they are not of the same conservative material as the others they seem to be doing quite well. Professor Norman Saylor of the sociology department is the author of "Parallelism in Superstition and Neurosis." All Rome Trembled
The nude body on the beach exploded Italy's "Scandal of the Century." Among the participants was a seemingly placid family group, with the beautiful young victim in its midst; suave Marchese from the South; his raven-haired mistress, one of Italy's newly emancipated girl-women of the North, a jazz pianist, son of one of the nation's rulers; his inamorata, an famous, still lovely film star; a ...
Dr. Carlton Fredericks' low-carbohydrate diet

Low Carb has a long and positive past
I found the 1965 version at a second hand store for $1 - the original price was $0.95! But it has been a great program for me. Simply stated, cut carbs of all kinds (except fiber) to 60 grams a day, and eat some protein 2-3 times a day. Easy, well defined. He says to do it in 6 meals a day, but I don't worry too much about that, and the weight is coming off. One of the coolest parts of the ...

U-boat Aces Tell Their Stories
Llowell Thomas, the American reporter commissioned to cover WWI by President Woodrow Wilson, gathered material for this book in the mid-1920s from face-to-face interviews with the Kriegsmarine U-boat commanders. These were men who, despite the terrible odds of against them, were lucky enough to survive the war. The book is divided into 36 chapters, each of which is usually a fascinating ...

Lessons for a long life, I hope!
Since I first became aware of the Hunza, I have been fascinated by their simplicity and long life. As a teenager, I began my search for every available piece of information about people who live long and healthy lives. I was, and still am, willing and prepared to incorporate healthful living into my own lifestyle. That is why I have kept my copy of this work at my bedside for many years. It ...

One of the Best
I first read this book when I was 13 (1966). I bought it in the bargain bin of a department store for 25 cents because I was interested in WWI air warfare and it had a cool cover. Being cheap didn't hurt. Much to my surprise, it was one of the most informative books on the subject I had seen. Not only did it give eyewitness accounts (including those of the author), but each chapter had a page on ...

I used to love reading these books
My cousin in New York turned me on to Nick Carter books back in the '60s when I was mainly reading Ian Fleming's James Bond paperbacks. Nick Carter Killmaster paperbacks are actually better and more exciting than the James Bond 007 books. At least IMHO.

The brown rice diet will change your life.
After working with all the later books on macrobiotic health practices, I was fortunate to find a copy of George (Nyoti) Ohsawa's book "You are all Sanpaku." He convinced me of the need for the 10-day brown rice regime, and I began the fast gladly. (I had been dragging my feet in this area while learning to cook all over again.) Health versus disease suddenly becomes very clear while turning ...

Cicero alias Diello alias Elyazar Basna.
Ludwig Moyzisch tells his true story almost like a novel for reality here surpasses fiction. From October 28, 1943 until April 1944, Nazi Germany did get from the spy "Cicero" an inside view of the series of Allied conferences. These conference were sealing Nazi Germany's fate and the one of its leaders at Moscow (Cordell Hull, Anthony Eden, Molotov), in Cairo (F. D. Roosevelt, W. Churchill, ...

The Last Untouchable Speaks
Paul Robsky and Oscar Fraley's "The Last of the Untouchables" was re-released in the wake of the 'Prohibition mania' that greeted the 1987 De Palma movie starring Kevin Costner and Robert DeNiro. The original version came out in 1962. Paul Robsky, who had been an aerial photographer in France during WW I and spent a hazardous year as a dry agent in the 'Moonshine Mountains' of South Carolina, ...

The first book i read
Most people start to read fiction during their adolesence. I am not most people. In fact the first book I read for my own entertainment was this book (Icelandic translation) when I was 21 years old! Don't get me wrong I wasn't illiterate, I read books at school, some of the time, I just had other interests. At the time I asked my father for some book that was short and had some space stuff in ...

A view into the heart and soul of the duchess
I loved this book and could not put it down. The Duchess wrote her story with an honest heart. She is humble and gracious despite the outstanding fact that the King of England gave up his throne in order to marry her. She comes across as a woman who was fun to be around, the life of every party, but much more importantly as someone who overcame great obstacles in her life without ever losing her ...
