The Door of the Beloved: Poems of Hafiz
Bardic Press, 2006
The great fourteenth-century Persian poet Hafiz is noted for his mystical love poems. The poetry of Hafiz has reached new heights of popularity in the West, yet his poems have been translatred into European languages for over two hundred years. Hafiz is not a poet to be captured in a single translation. This modernised edition of McCarthy's elegant prose translation gives us a direct Hafiz, full of clear imagery and personal poetry.
Songs of Sorrow and Joy
Ashford
Bardic Press, 2006
And through the days, the night's storm still within me, whipping up the flames of the passions which will not cease licking me, the surge of my blood aflood in my veins and my instincts at large without any reins, I am as a bull that blinded with bleeding hurls its confusion, its darkness, its murder at the enclosure. Whilst in a sea unseen the nets of angels flung like golden flags of sunlight waver in the wind and dredge ...

A supplementary book to Tarif Khalidi's "Muslim Jesus"
It is said in the foreword - this book contains stories and sayings, and passages from Qur'an, which were excluded from the "Muslim Jesus". -So I guess this could be described as being a supplementary book to the "Muslim Jesus" by Tarif Khalidi. Though there are many same sayings also included in this one... I liked the "Muslim Jesus", but I'm not sure if I would recommend this one also. Maybe ...

Hafiz of Shiraz
Bardic Press, 2003
An important translation.
To get a deeper insight into Hafiz, or any significant work of literature in a foreign language, more than one translation is usually necessary. Reading this translation by Le Galliene helped me get a better grip on this sublime poetry by this incredible sufi poet. Landinsky is also excellent. Hafiz is too profound to be captured completely by any one translator and I found reading both of these ...

Omar Khayyam
Bardic Press, 2005
Excellent work by Richard Le Gallienne
I should start off by saying that I am not familiar with Omar Khayyam or his work. I should also state that Richard La Gallienne's translation is likely completely unlike the literal translation. His effort was only to produce a witty and stylish version reminiscent of Khayyam's original intent. From what I have read, it is excellent on its own. I do not generally go in for poetry, but found that ...
