Burne Hogarth's The Golden Age of Tarzan, 1939-19422 reviews
Burne Hogarth

Chelsea House Publishers, 1977

A suberb example of comics reprinting
I had this wonderful, giant-size book many years ago, from a friend. It reprints the sunday pages about in the size they appeared in the '40s: in full color, not retouched, using the best scanner tecniques they had at that time. The art of Hogarth is in all his glory. If you have a chanche to buy this giant book, don't esitate! Great also for the introductory essays.

Brooks Robinson (Baseball legends)6 reviews
Rick Wolff

Chelsea House Publishers, 1991

Brooks Robinson
First let me tell you about myself, like Brooks Robinson I am a third baseman. This book has inspired me to try my best. On page 35 in the book it says, "He was once again sent down to the minors-this time to Vancouver." He spent about four years in the minor leagues, but he kept trying and later became the greatest defensive third baseman who ever played the game. This book also inspired to ...

Basic Nutrition (Eating Right)1 review
Lori A. Smolin, Mary B. Grosvenor

Chelsea House Publishers, 2004

The best summary of basic nutritional science I've seen
I picked this up at my local library, as I have with many health and nutrition books, but this is the first one that I am going to buy. Most nutrition books I see are full of either iffy science, too much biased opinion, or they're just too complicated for me to follow. This book gives a brief but thorough explanation of all the basics. The text and pictures are concise and easy to follow. I have ...

Paul R Magocsi

Chelsea House Publishers, 1989

Still a great introduction to the Rusyn people & country
This is a delightful book about the Carpatho-Rusyn people, culture and land. It is easy to read yet fully detailed about the major topics of this small but complex area of study. The author is the leading expert on Rusyn history and culture and this is his beginner's guide to this topic. The text is illustrated throughout with black-and white photographs, artwork, and maps and there is an eight ...

1886 professional criminals of America1 review
Thomas Byrnes

Chelsea House Publishers, 1969

Excellent
I bought this book in 1969, just as it had been reprinted, I think, for the first time since 1886. Its the great big hard bound version, with the slip-over photograph cover. I still have it and read it every so often. It you are a real Historian and/or a lover of crime stories, you will want to add this book to your collection. It was written by the New York Chief of Police, Thomas Byrnes, ...

1897 Sears Roebuck Catalogue1 review
Roebuck & Co.; Perelman, S.J.; Rovere, Richard; Israel, Fred L., Editor Sears

Chelsea House Publishers, 1968

Valuable Reference
I have spent hours going through this historical catalog. This reproduction shows what was being sold and used in 1897 and from a sociological standpoint, the desires and needs of the people of the time only differ from the present with improved technology. Oddly the list of items and the index could be taken from any contemporary Sears catalog but the photo engravings of the period items are a ...

The Cahuilla (Indians of North America)1 review
Lowell John Bean

Chelsea House Publishers, 1989

A Fascinating Lifestyle
I really enjoyed this book. The Cahuilla Indians led a fascinating existence living in the mountains and deserts of Southern California (near Palm Springs). The book describes the way that they adapted to their environment and live in the mountains in the summer and the desert in the winter. This is a very good educational book.

The Brontes (Bloom's Classic Critical Views)1 review

Chelsea House Publishers, 2008

Great Book For Research
I thought that Bloom's The Brontes was a great book to use when researching the Brontes, especially Charlotte. For my AP English class I had to find critisms on Jane Eyre and background information on Charlotte Bronte. This book provided me with the materials to produce three pages of research on Charlotte Bronte.

Grandma Moses (American women of achievement)1 review
Tom Biracree

Chelsea House Publishers, 1989

An ideal book for elementary and middle school students.
The American Women of Achievement Series is outstanding and this book only makes it that much better. Read all the trivial incidents in the life of Grandma Moses. This book is ideal for ages 8-13, and will maintain their attention with the little things about her with which they may be able to identify.
