Useful field guide
This guide is very easy to use in the field. It is a soft cover, half page size so it stows easily in my pack. Flowers are categorized by color and easy to look up. It has additional sections on mosses, mushrooms, grasses, etc. A very user friendly guide.

Accurate and entertaining
This is an excellent guidebook. Most importantly, the maps and descriptions are very accurate yet still entertaining to read. The guidebook encompasses short family appropriate hikes such as the Visitor Center Interpretive trail (.5 miles) to the more strenuous bushwhacking ascent of Carbonate Mountain (9.2 miles and 4,580 feet). A resource guide at the back of the book summarizes hikes by ...

Excellent Guidebook
I purchased Colorado Scrambles in summer of 2005. Having moved from Colorado the previous summer, I came out on vacation in September 2005 for mountain climbing and used the book extensively. It is a good mix of route descriptions with pictures. I climbed Lookout Peak, Arrow, Engineer, Vermilion, SW ridge of Sneffels and the Citadel with the excellent info provided by Colorado Scrambles. The ...

Wow! Great book, color detailed photos of routes, sun/shade orientation for all routes & basically all the info that one needs to have a memorable trip in Joshua Tree. Enchanting story
Tennyson weaves an enchanting tale of the delicate balance of life in the rainforest. Through the senses of a blue morpho butterfly, he charms readers into discovering the layers of the rainforest, its inhabitants and their importance in the cycle of life. He presents the question of human inhabitants and their role in the cycle, and sensitively handles the issue of deforestation. The story ends ...

It Is Exactly What I Wanted...
This book covers ALL the mountain ranges in Colorado, and does it in an interesting and informative way. It does NOT give detailed trail guides...how could it and still be portable? Although a resident of Colorado for many years, I still wondered just where one range began and another left off, what was the history of a particular region, what was the translation and derivation of some ...

Interesting tales and stories
Some truly fascinating stories here of climbing in the Colorado Rockies with a lot of historical photos. You'll come away with appreciation of the achievements of the old timers. With footnotes, sometimes it seems a little too dry but overall I enjoyed the tales of first ascents, tragedies, legendary figures, and what must of been, great fun. This new edition carries the story right up to this ...

Colorado Summit Hikes for Everyone (Cmc Classics)

Dave Muller
Colorado Mountain Club Press, 2003
Not helpful - rather misleading
We bought is because it dawned on us that not all mountains we may want climb are Fourteeners. The format of the book is very practical - two pages with a map - rather a sketch that you expect to see on the back of an envelope. Muller is much into bushwacking - but for this purpose descriptions can be highly inaccurate and misleading (to add to the list of other reviewer: Hike 7: the mountain was ...
