Best Vegan Cookbook Out There
I have bought several vegan cookbooks before this one, and have been disappointed in all of them. This is by far the best. This is not a book about how to recreate standard meat dishes with meat substitutes, but rather a book with tons of fantastic recipes that do not not contain animal products. There are a few ingredients that are hard to find, but not many, and they are mostly optional. ...

"...As good as it gets!"
I am not a vegan, and am not easily excited about vegan baked goods. However I do have a best friend who is a committed vegan and who very much is excited by vegan baked goods. When I purchased this book for her as a birthday gift, she was beyond thrilled. I guess she had another vegan cookbook by this same author, and had already fallen in love with her recipes. (Who knew?) She later made ...

The best pregnancy book I've read!
I have read "what to expect" and the "mayo clinic guide" cover to cover as well as this book and while they are all good and informative "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" is the best in my opinion. My only problem with it is that I think the title is misleading and some people just might read the book a week at a time during their pregnancy but the book will address important information (like ...

Hilarious & Sooo True!
I read this as a suggestion from my sister during my 4th month of pregnancy. I was in the "easy" part of my pregnancy, so I'll probably read it again in my 9th month so I can appreciate it a little more. Her chapters of various symptoms were absolutely hilarious & blunt. She has a way of describing what our bodies & minds go through in a way that is totally relatable. It may be a bit raunchy for ...

Robert's Rules of Order.....great briefcase book!
I bought this book because I had used it previously in my employment years ago. It's a great argument solver, and there are no questions asked when you "quote" from the book. Haven't found anything it doesn't solve if you are willing to check it out.

Powerfull History of Those Who Served
I have the privilege of being the friend of the son of one of the men who served on the USS Tang, and through him I learned of this book that includes considerable mention of his father. This personal aspect amplified the impact of the book for me, but even without this I could not have read the book and not been humbled by reading this true story of those who served. In these troubling times ...

The best!
This is the best cookbook out there for post bariatric patients. There are wonderful recipes that are easy to prepare and you are given exactly how much protein you will be getting with each meal - which is more important than anything. I love the fact that it was put together by someone who has had the surgery and that she couldn't find a cookbook out there for herself. Face it there isn't ...
The Portable Atheist: Essential Readings for the Nonbeliever

Christopher Hitchens

Not So Portable Yet Extraordinary
This book is a nice collection of essays, letters and excerpts from other writings from a number of different non-believing and freethinking authors throughout history. The introduction by Hitchens does a nice (and poignant as always) job at framing the chronologically arranged collection of pieces. Along with contemporary writers such as Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennet and Salman ...

Terrific!
Being the parents of a 14 year old girl heading to high school and an 11 year old ADHD/ODD boy about to start middle school, we need all the help we can get. We fear that our son's ODD will eventually morph into conduct disorder and are willing to try anything to save him (and us) from that. Also, we have been feeling the pain of a defiance issue forming with our daughter as she enters her ...

BEST COOKBOOK EVER - could only be better if it was twice as long!
I'm not pregnant, and neither is anyone in my family, but this is simply the BEST cookbook I've ever purchased. My husband and I are living with my fifty year old parents and my teenage sisters, and I am the only one in the family who likes to eat healthy. I've been cooking healthy recipes from other cookbooks, only to get grumpy looks and half-eaten portions from my family members. Along ...
The First Year: Type 2 Diabetes: An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed (First Year, The)

Gretchen Becker

A lot of very good information.
I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and my doctor recommended this book. It's got a lot of information in it, presented in clear, understandable language. When there are different points of view on topics (like diets) she doesn't take sides but presents the issues. Worth a read if you're trying to figure out what being diabetic is all about and how to handle it.

Contains some delicious recipes, Good book to own
This book has some great things to offer. For the most part the recipes are realistic (as opposed to some other raw books, like juliano's). Most everything I've made has been yummy. I think there are a few too many photos of her eating, staring at the reader, walking, pretending to be going about her everyday life but obviously posing, etc. It annoys me but besides that I really have enjoyed ...

Great Insight Into Behaviorial Development And More
There are so many books on the market about parenting in the first few years of your baby's life. I have read a dozen of them, and was mostly disappointed. The "What To Expect" books, for example, are very wordy, and have very pragmatic advice, but for me lack some "depth". Brazelton's book, by contrast is both pragmatic and philosophical, giving parents much more depth on this subject. I ...

Bridging a unfathomable Gap in our life from work to retirement
It is now almost fifteen years since I entered into the challenging world of retirement. In no time at all, I found myself emulating the comment of another retiree to the effect that he was busier in retirement than he ever had been! At one of my retirement dinner ceremonies, a young lady came up to me and said, "Thank you for all that you have done and I think that you will find this book ...

Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team, and a Dream

Book provides "Hoop-Dreams" insights for the gridiron set
Bissinger, the author, came to Odessa to follow the Permian Panthers thru their entire 1988 season, attending practices as well as games, spending time with several of the key players and their families, reading the newspapers, interviewing the movers and shakers in the desolate, tapped-out landscape in the middle of Nowhere, Texas. Most of us have heard that Texans regard their high school ...

Finally, a non-diet diet that works for vegetarians!
Let me preface the following by stating that I've never been a "dieter", I've always just tried to eat as healthy as I can. And, as a life-long vegetarian I'd never really been able to participate in most fad-diets anyway (I need my carbs!). But, I'd noticed over the past year that even though I work out pretty consistently, my metabolism was changing and I had dramatic drops in blood sugar that ...
