President's Daughter29 reviews
Ellen Emerson White

Flare, 1984

Fabulous Young Adult Fiction...for Grownups
I first read the first two books when I was in high school...in the 80s. I enjoyed them then, and sorely regret loaning them to a younger cousin when I got to college and was ostensibly 'too old' for them. My local bookstore didn't carry "God Save the Queen," so I've never read that one. I'm 36 now, and I've read one heckuva lot of books. But two of that stay with me are "The President's ...

Souvenirs (An Avon Flare Book)6 reviews
Melissa Snyder

Flare, 1995

still great
i read this somewhere in between junior high and high school. i fell in love with it. as a teenager it felt so raw and real. i've read it many times, once last night. i sat up all night reliving all of kendall's heatbreak. at 24 i would still consider this one of the best books i've read, but perhaps that's because of how much i liked it as a teenager. i've always wondered if this was a story ...

If He Hollers
"If He Hollers" is a suspense book written by A.G Cascone. It's setting takes place in a small town in present time. It is about a group of friends who saw a kidnapping, and tried to foget it, until ten years later. There are four main characters you need to know: Stacey, Eric, Mel, and Jimmy. It was Stacey's sixth birthday party and all the kids from school were there, when Bobby Crawford ...

The Proposal (Apple Valley)7 reviews
Nancy Covert Smith

Flare, 1994

A nice romance book for young ladies
DeLanna has endured much from her mother and is now ready to start life on her own. As per usual, Nancy has given us another good book to read and keep us interested all the time. It's not easy to put the book down. Just keep the series going!!!

Cameron Dokey

A wonderful continuation of the Hearts and Dreams saga.
Teenage Charlotte Campbell was happy enough living on the Indiana frontier, in spite of her family's simple, meager lifestyle. But it's 1814, and war is raging. Fearing for their daughter's safety, Charlotte's parents send her east to stay with her aunt and uncle in Baltimore. But Charlotte isn't safe there, either. Not only are British ships threatening the city, but her uncle's mysterious ...

The Journey (Apple Valley)4 reviews
Nancy Covert Smith

Flare, 1994

What covered wagon travel was really like.
Authentic Ohio history in the early 1800's. A continued story of DeLanna and Andrew (The Dare, and The Proposal). The reader is given the hardships and adventures of travel by Oxen and covered wagon. An eight week honeymoon that takes Del and Andrew from their homes in PA to the Ohio Firelands. The author delivers in each and every book of the series. This Stranger, My Father5 reviews
Robert Hawks

Flare, 1989

Fast Paced, Intriguing story
This is one of my favorite books. It is completely absorbing and believable. The book stands out because its a psychological study of this girl and her father. Her father is really hard to figure out and I've read it a few times since and I still think its mysterious. I would highly recommend it if you like mysteries and sort of "on the run" stories.

Jean Thesman

Flare, 1989

Wonderful!
It has been about 10 years since I read this book, but when I read it in 5th grade, I thought it was wonderful...I have not reread it since, but would love to read it to see if it still touches my heart like it did then. I remember it being a very heart-touching, tear-jerking book.

Sarah on Her Own (American Dreams)5 reviews
Karen Mueller Coombs

Flare, 1996

A fascinating dive into early Virginia's history
SARAH is a joyful combination of compelling characters (Sarah herself and others, such as the ebullient, sassy boy Twig) layered in a period of our country's early history and fresh writing that sweeps you along. We're soaked in the times-- the food and clothes, the problems between the native Americans and the people arriving from far-away England. The author's thorough research is ...

Dangerous Secrets (An Avon Flare Book)3 reviews
Audrey Barcus

Flare, 1996

Fantastic!
At first when i saw this book i thought, absolutely no way i would read this book. But in fact, it was the best book i've ever read! (i know i say that a lot but whatever.)it's got a really good plot and the way they "killed themselves" is SO gory. I think half of the reason they solved the case was half pure luck. I mean, overhearing lots of chats between your mother who is the counselor who ...
