Best bullies 4ever! NEVER!
As I've said before, I just adore all the children's picture books in FLASHLIGHT PRESS's catalog. I've already reviewed several of them and my aim is to review as many as possible because these books are perfect for the children in your life aged 4 to 8. With that in mind, I checked their on-line catalog. I had a hard time choosing between Alley Oops and Carla's Sandwich. I decided on ...
Getting to Know Ruben Plotnick

Roz Rosenbluth

Timely subject! Unforgettable character!
GETTING TO KNOW RUBEN PLOTNICK is one of those rare books that has "high concept" ... a term I hear a lot from publishers looking for special books, books that could become best-sellers and/or classics. Author Roz Rosenbluth chose a subject that's on people's minds more and more in recent years: dementia. She wove a charming story around Ruben Plotnick, a lovable, yet often wacky, boy with ...

Celebrate the joys of being different! A delicious reading adventure!
Here I go again: reviewing a book by one of my favorite kids publishers, FLASHLIGHT PRESS. Carla's Sandwich is the fourth one I've read and reviewed, and it's as delightful as their other choices. You can't go wrong with any of their books. Author Debbie Herman certainly had a great idea when she created the irrepressible Carla, a little girl with a unique talent for creating delectable, ...

Great for a pediatricians office
I am a pediatrician and have copies of this book in my exam rooms. It is the book most commonly commented on by parents as being a wonderful children's book.

Charming and Clever
I've shared this book a dozen times with my 6-year-old son. He gets greatly discouraged when things don't bloom after he's planted seeds, so "Holly Bloom's Garden" gave him the idea of making his own flowers. The book's illustrations are warm and charming and Ashman and Parent tell a good story that should appeal to both boys and girls.

This book will definitely become a classic, beloved by young and old!
One of my greatest joys in life is reading children's books (I enjoy writing them, too.) THAT said, let me tell you what I like about this wonderful book and its unusual, aesthetic illustrations. First of all, I'm always on the lookout for an original idea, and what could be more unique than a child tempted by "big bucks" to sell her beloved Grandpa? Very clever of Dotti Enderle and Vicki ...

The perfect bedtime story!
Finally! A book about a kid like mine! My son and daughter were always convinced they were missing out on fun after bedtime. My son laughed out loud seeing himself in the book. "I'm Really Not Tired!" is an adorable bedtime book. It's funny, and beautifully illustrated with wonderful detail. And the little boy has such a wild imagination! Your kids will love this book.

El sandwich de Carla
Debbie Herman
Flashlight Press, 2006
