South America - Footprints
In preparation for a trip to South America, I purchased a number of books on the different countries as well as South America in general. By far, the Footprints offered the best information, maps, and tips for successful navigation through the country. Unfortunately, this is such a thick guide that it will not make the trip with us, but it has helped lay the foundation for efficiently exploring ...

So far so good
I haven't gone on the trip yet so I can't comment on the accuracy of the book. I can say that it has help immensely with the planning process as it provides websites for most of the reviewed hostels and transportation services. It is very informative and was recently updated so I am assuming that the information is good. I can only give it four stars due to the fact that I haven't gone on the ...

Diving the world
My wife Sue & I have been very lucky to dive some of the best diving locations in the world, all of which are featured in this excellent and very readable book. First of all the descriptions are spot on and you can tell that the text is taken from the experience of actually doing the dive or visiting the area, not just researching it (unlike so many guides). The book is not just a travel or dive ...

Best Guide Book Choice
I traveled to Nicaragua with a friend and we each brought different guide books. I brought the Footprint guide and I was very, very happy that I did. The historical and cultural information was much more complete in this book. It had city maps and included places and information that other books did not. Perhaps the most telling recommendation that I could give doesn't come from me. I took ...

Super inclusive, for all budgets
Footprint guides are, bless them, practicaly encyclopedic. Some people find the wealth of detail overwhelming, but the advantage is that one can pinch pennies on one part of the trip and splurge on a worthwhile luxury at another time, without having to consult different guides. Also, they include more places, letting you know whether there's something of interest in a place (or not), rather ...

Just Returned From Chile
I just returned from a month of living in Santiago, Chile, learning Spanish, and living with my Footprint guide to Chile. I read a lot of the book before arriving and everything it had said and recommended was right. I was living in Santiago and it gave tons of things to do, stay, eat, and see in the city. I was also traveling on weekend. Things like, skiing in the Andes, visiting Valparaiso and ...

Footprint gets you around
My wife and I checked almost every India travel guide book that is sold in the USA. We took three travel guides with us to India but the footpring was the only one to return. Its descriptions aids the reader in visting a site. It guides you as a (semi) independent travel in exploring the sites and how to navigate through them. Other travel guides have similar descriptions of the sites, but ...

Colombia is back on the tourist map. But fear not: Footprint?s 3rd edition of Colombia is now at hand to make sense of it all and ...

Highly recommended -
We travelled around Argentina out of season using this guide and the Rough Guide, and found that we turned time and again to the Footprint Guide for reliable and up-to-date information. I broke my ankle in Salta, but thanks to this guide, we were booked into a fantastic hotel, and later spent a few nights luxuriating in a gorgeous and fantastic value for money estancia in Pumamarca, which went ...
