This is a wonderful book.
I came across this book while weeding the large print collection. I took a moment to leaf through it, and I was amazed. This is a gorgeous book, filled with history, photos, and tasty recipes -- and the writing in it is very clever. This is a special book, more than just a cookbook. I would highly recommend checking it out, but you better not read it hungry!

very easy, very cute
Martha Stewart featured this book on her show a month or so ago (summer 2008) and she and some celebrity made a dog and a bunny. They're funky little animals and look very easy to make. For how-to purposes, you probably don't need the book, just the idea...but the book is good inspiration and the thinking and planning is done for you. The book is fun to look at and would make a good kid's book ...

You Know You Have To Buy The Book When...
You have checked a book out of the public library more than a few times! I've enjoyed this book for quite some time and just recently broke down and purchased it. I've had great success with everything I have tried. My normally "I don't eat sweets" husband could not stop raving about the Hopscoth Candy. Beware, you may not be able to stop eating your confections! :) I've read many books on ...

Must have for everyone
Everything in this book is wonderful and, if you follow her directions, turns out. We give this book to all our friends and family because it's so wonderful! Steak in a bag is to die for and I'm not a steak fan. Moby mellon is great, Chocolate Mouse cake is wonderful. Liver Pate is always a hit. Can't go wrong with this one.

The Sophisticated Cookie

A Unique Guide
The Sophisticated Cookie does an excellent job with a tricky subject: cooking with booze. While it is perhaps a fallacy that "all the alcohol bakes out;" at least most of it does, and we are frequently left with flavor that is, well, sophisticated. You might find your liquor cabinet woefully understocked for some of these delicacies; on the other hand, you might be inspired to finally reach for ...

Happy Halloween!
I love this book! Not only are the pumpkin carving ideas amazing, but the guy has great suggestions with a good sense of humor. My only regret was that I ordered it late in October and I didn't get the book in time to pursue some of the projects for Halloween night. But it sure made for a great table book and conversation piece at my little Halloween get together. Next year we'll be ready to take ...

Healthy Meat and Potatoes

Very tasty recipes
I recently purchased a set of waterless cookware and was disappointed by the limited accompanying recipes. I was delighted to find "Healthy Meat & Potatoes" by Charles Knight, and even more delighted once I received it. The recipes are surprisingly easy, the ingredients healthy, and the tips on using waterless cookware invaluable. I also like to cook with wine, and was excited to find wine ...

A terrific cookbook--everything turns out delicious!
Most "low-fat" or "Healthy" recipes seem to be gummy, tasteless, or taste like animal feed. These muffins, scones, and other goodies are actually worth the trouble of baking and eating. And it's nice to have some decent-tasting desserts to serve when my vegan or diabetic friends visit.

A splendid complement to good cooking.
I received this book as a gift several years ago and it has become one of my most frequently used cook books. This beautifully illustrated book with easy to follow directions provides the recipe for dressing up any dish. Modestly priced, it is a wonderful gift to give as well as to receive.

The only thing that would improve it is meat
The recipes in the book are really something of a revelation to me. I live in Seattle and have dined at Café Flora dozens of times. Still I didn't really expect what I found in the cookbook. In addition to signature recipes the book presents a very well thought out structured approach to vegetarian gourmet cooking. So not only do you have recipes, but you are given a pretty good idea of what ...

An excellent source for Firebird enthusiasts.
This book is, simply stated, a must have for the serious Firebird enthusiast. It covers the history and development of the first and second generation F-body Firebird, including production numbers and data for base, Esprit, Formula and Trans Am models. Year-by-year changes are chronicled in the text, and several sidebars are included for discussing topics related to the Firebird's ...

I've had this book for 22 years! It's the BEST!!!!
I bought this book at a school book fair when I was 7 years old. When I was little my mom and I used to make recipes from this book all the time. Now that my daughter is almost 7, we have started to bake together, using recipes from this book, as well. The binding fell apart many years ago, leavingme with a stack of papers, but the cookies are still amazing! The recipes are clear, simple and ...

It's now my daughter's turn
An earlier edition of this continues to be my favorite Italian cookbook after 15 years. I just purchased a new copy to give to my daughter for her first cookbook. Every recipe from this book that I've tried over the years has been delicious. There are other great Italian cookbooks out there, and I own some of them, too. I like this one in particular for Caggiano's recipe selection, and ...
Mexican Cookery

A must for authentic Mexican cuisine lovers.
After reading a review, I purchased Mexican Cookery many years ago. Coming from a Mexican background I found the receipes to be the closest to authentic Mexican cuisine I have ever seen in a Mexican cookbook written in English. Just like grandma and Mama used to cook.I have given several copies away as presents to people who I know enjoy authentic Mexican food.

A Taste of the Islands
When I received this book as a gift, I couldn't wait to read through it and start cooking. The author, John DeMers, does an excellent job of explaining the basics of Caribbean cooking including a list (with explanation) of herbs & spices, seafood, meat & poultry, fruit & vegetables most commonly found throughout the Islands. The recipes are clear, concise and can be followed by novice cooks and ...
