Absolutely a Perfect Method
This is a magnificent book for students of all ages. Very simple english and spanish for young students...and yet exciting enough for older people, too. This breaks everything down for a student who has absolutely no experience. But...for those who know how to read music, you are ahead. I use this book in my youth orchestra all the time. Wonderful method. I have yet to purchase the teachers ...

Great for K-3
I am a classroom music teacher (K-6) and have used this product several times. It is a fun way to get students singing solos, easing the assessment process. I think it is better for primary students, though there are activities/songs designed for older students. It's just that my 4th-6th graders would find some of it too babyish.

Hogey's Journey by Eph Ehly
This book is much more profound than its down-home approach indicates. Dr. Ehly effectively reveals the importance of education in American culture and the centrality of musical education in the process. He addresses the declining state of the American cultural landscape and casts a vision for being a part of its recovery to educational and moral excellence.

The bios of famous spiritual arrangers alone are worth the price of the book. The rest of this information is uesful, too, and it's great to have it all in one volume.

Inside the Music Classroom: Teaching the Art with Heart
I was delighted by the wealth of information offered by the author in such a practicial and easy to comprehend manner. I really appreciated that she was able to address so many of the concerns of new teachers. Ms. Bourne is a teacher who has the passion I want to have about teaching. This book is so well organized and helpful and I can't recommend it enough. I know I will be referencing it ...

Mallet Madness is a Blast!
I'm a first year music teacher with no formal Orff-Schulwerk background. I kept wondering how to use our mallet instruments effectively in class. Mallet Madness describes a whole mallet program with diagrams, posters, classroom management suggestions and full lesson plans with reproducible flash cards. I spent an afternoon making and laminating flash cards, and I've had weeks of lesson plans ...

Moving and comforting...
My Early Childhood Development class really enjoyed listening to "Old MacDonald Had a Farm." they were sitting on their knees close to the CD player. On their own, they "moved" to the lively new arrangement of a familiar song. Our friend, Judy, often takes care of her grandson, who is a special four-year-old. She says his favorite song on the CD is, "Old Joe Clark." The song has conforted him, ...

Just Ok
Although this book does have a few good suggestions about adapting lesson plans for teaching on a cart, anyone who has been teaching for even a year knows the information in this book. I'm getting put on a cart for teaching music next year in my K-4 building, and I bought this book thinking it would be packed full of golden nuggets of knowledge, but in the few days I spent thinking about how I ...

Good Ideas
I thought this book had really good ideas but was lacking in material. For instance, it gives you a "starting point" on many of the games but then it is up to you to take it from there. It definitely gave me something to work with and some great ideas. If you are looking for ideas and a place to start this is a great book. If you are looking for all your materials already made, quiz questions ...

A little bit of everything
This book can be used by pianists and piano teachers (often isolated in small towns) to find up-to-date answers to recurring injury problems, inspiration for playing "from the mind and heart" as well as the hands, and, in general, just talking about piano (although a lot of the information works well for other instrumentalists as well--especially the exercises for flexibility and strength). It's ...

great teaching tool!
This book is a great tool to teach your elementary students (especially the younger ones) the basics of reading music. It goes step by step, and walks them through music theory, touching on: quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes, whole notes, lines and staffs, solfedge AND letter-note reading, etc. I would recommend this for any elementary music teacher. Also check out other books by this ...

Creative
This is a fun book for something different to do in the music classroom or as a family fun activity. I used it for summer school. The garden hose horns were a huge hit. The accompaniment music leaves a little to be desired on the "cool" side.
