A must for every comic illustrator whether amateur or pro
Probably one of the very best books about perspective creation. Takes the reader from the initiation level to the most serious professional one by a series of step-by-step tutorials. It is a must for every comic illustrator, whether US realistic style, European (Belgian) "clear line" realistic or humoristic illustrator, or manga-style. The only point not covered by this manual is shadows but, on ...

A feast on the eyes alone
This book is absolutely fabulous, period. If you want to expand your drawing skills, learn to work magic with watercolor, or are simply a fan of Stephanie Law's work; you need this book. I actually bought 2 copies, one to drool over and one to keep in case it falls apart (got one off the artists website, she'll sign it for you!) This book basically has 4 sections. The first is an intro to ...

Recognizing the collateral damage...
I started reading this book today thinking that I would finish it in a few days. Well, I couldn't put it down and ended up reading the whole book in one day. WOW! I would recommend Torn From The Inside Out to anyone who is in an abusive environment, but especially to anyone with influence over children being exposed to such an environment. Sara Niles was attached to a perpetual yo-yo in a ...

I feel sad when my dad lies to me
My daughter gravitated to this book on her own - and her opening statement was "I feel sad when my dad lies to me." It is an incredible book to get the 5-9 year old set talking about how he or she feels. I highly recommend it! A more detailed review of my experience appears at: [...] - S

Fusion heaven
The first thing that struck me about this book was the beautiful edition - the illustrations really set the tone for the eclectic recipes they accompany. The recipes themselves obviously draw on a wide and varied background in cooking (and travel?)- bringing together ingredients and techniques from various European, Asian and American styles of cooking. I loved the Goat Cheese Napoleons, the ...

I sneered at first but...
I'll admit, I saw the book (not kit) new at a major chain and jumped on Amazon for a better deal to get it used. I made a mistake and ordered the kit rather than the book. When I opened it up and saw synthetic golden nylon brushes, little tubes of paint, and dinky little book, drawing pad and a dragon shaped eraser I was sorely disappointed at my own error. I paint photo realism in human oil ...
