Good Idea?
I am thinking about buying this book, is it a good choice to buy it--or not?

Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking112 reviews
Marcella Hazan

Macmillan, 1995

An essential book for a beginning chef...
...I've referred to this book over the years for technique and authenticity of Italian cooking...it is a wonderful book. I agree that it is on par with Julia Child's French cookbook. I've made many of the recipes and they are fabulous....the poached shrimp, easy and delicious...the grilled shrimp with flavored breadcrumbs is another favorite, the Lemon, garlic & parsley chicken cutlets is ...

Miss Suzy102 reviews
Miriam Young

Macmillan Pub Co, 1964

Childhood favorite revisited
This is a book that my mother read to me as a child and, later, as I learned to read, would read to her. Now, 30 years later, I am reading this to my daughter and sharing one of my childhood favorites with her. Some of the ideas are a little dated, Miss Suzy is a stay-at-home squirrel who enjoys cooking and cleaning, but it also a tale of kindness and respect.

Smart Women Finish Rich: 7 Steps to Achieving Financial Security and Funding Your Dreams138 reviews

Macmillan Audio, 2000

His Grandmother Taught Him Well!
Smart Women Finish Rich is a bit different from other financial books I've read. I have to admit I was surprised with how well David Bach addressed both the emotional and intellectual relationship women have with money. His grandmother taught him well. I am going to say that Smart Women Finish Rich is more for a financial beginner than a woman with financial savvy. It's a well thought out ...

The Sunne in Splendour142 reviews
Sharon K Penman

Macmillan & Co, 1983

Tragic tale of a much-maligned king
The Sunne in Splendour tells the complicated story of Richard III, the last of the Plantagenet Kings. Younger brother of Edward IV, Richard would never have become king if not for a series of political maneuverings on his part. History (and Shakespeare) have made Richard out to be an evil, greedy hunchback; Sharon Kay Penman tells the story of a man who was fiercely loyal to the people he loved ...

A Treasury of Knitting Patterns49 reviews
Barbara G. Walker

Macmillan Pub Co, 1981

a lifetime of patterns
If this was the only book of knitting patterns I ever purchased, it would be enough to last a lifetime. The pictures are clear and the author adds commentary to the different sections and to most of the patterns. This is helpful in choosing the appropriate pattern for the project.

Charmed Life57 reviews
Diana Wynne Jones

Macmillan, 1977

A Charmed Surprise ...
"Charmed Life" is my first Diana Wynne Jones book (I know, I know ... I'm a little late) and I'll openly admit I came to her work through Miyazaki's amazing film "Howl's Moving Castle". Imagine how stupid I felt when I realized that I had been missing out on one of the best writers of our age. While it starts off slowly, Jones's first Chrestomanci book is still a grand, magical, yet simple ...

Sergeanne Golon

Macmillan, 1972

Angelique - all 9 volumns
I started reading this series in the 70's while travelling enroute to my husbands next military assignment. I have read them 4 different times in a period of 20 years. Just getting ready to read the 9 books again since it has been apx. 5 years and I can't wait to re-read them. After reading the reviews in this section, I was astounded to learn that it has been made into a series in some ...

Manchild in the promised land56 reviews
Claude Brown

Macmillan, 1965

Manchild In the Promised Land
I was able to find this book relatively easy, based on a few keywords. My boyfriend started reading it several years ago and was unable to complete it. The storyline stuck in his memory and I bought it as a surprise for him, because over the years he mentioned it occasionally. Thanks for making the lookup so easy!
