Bread & Butter of any Medical Practice
Having been in primary care medicine for nearly 20 years, I have found Katzung's "Pharmacology" books to be enormously informative and practical at the same time. There always are initial chapters that enable one to review one's biochemistry and physiology of drugs, followed by a balanced and pragmatic summary of all relevant groups of drugs, including their drawbacks and drug interactions. I ...

Excellent source of questions for Step 1 preparation
If you are old school like me in that you need to study from a physical book and simply CANNOT study from a computer (i.e. online Qbanks like UsmleWorld, Kaplan, etc which most people rave about but which turned out to be USELESS for me and my learning style), then I strongly recommend this Qbook. There is no doubt that online Qbanks like UsmleWorld are supposed to be really good - as per ...

Excellent Text
I teach healthcare policy and am currently using this text. It does a great job covering the important issues. It's quite readable, as a new edition very topical and, through the use of vignettes, humanizes the consequences of policy decisions. It also has questions keyed to each chapter for assignment use. It is not an academic text and I am supplementing with articles (many of which can be ...

Fantastic Resource for In Class
This handbook is a fantastic synopsis of the chapters in Pharmacotherapy. It's a great size to bring to class. Although it does not have all the information of the larger book, it is a much easier to handle resource.

Slightly more preferred than Lippincott.
I have had Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology, 4th Edition (Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews Series) for my entire second year of medical school. I recently purchased this book, and although I can't give a thorough post-Step 1 review yet, I do prefer studying (for exams and Step 1) from this book rather than Lippincott's. The chapters are more lined up with the way my pharmacology ...

Accepted to Stanford University!
This book was recommended to me by a physician assistant as I prepared to apply to Stanford. It's worth the money-I was accepted! I found myself referring back to this book numerous times throughout the process, and even took it with me on my trip to do my oral interviews. I'm very glad I bought it!

Excellent Pathophysiology book
This is an excellent pathophysiology book available in the market. I am right now preparing for my step 2 but I wish I would have used this book for my step 1. I have a decent score on my step 1 and I have taken the exam recently and I think if somebody masters this book they can rock the exam. This book gives excellent information regarding many diseases. I am trying to study this book right now ...
