Very cute book
I purchased this book to read to my 3 year old daughter before we took the pacifier away (or as we told her the boom boom fairy). We read it the night the fairy came. My daughter loved the book. It is so funny (she even laughed out loud a bunch of times). This book makes the pacifier seem like it's not a very big deal as the other animals find different and silly uses for it. However, I like ...

Inspiring!
I bought this book because I was looking for inspiration for some illustrations for children's books that I'm working on. I'm thoroughly pleased with it; it's quite a thick book and includes marvellous illustrations from artists around the world. The most wonderful thing is seeing the different styles that are all equally lovely, but completely original. I leave this on my coffee table for ...

one of the best collections on illustration
As I am an illustrator, I collect very different kind of books on illustration. I also try to attend both the event and the illustrators exhibition of Bologna fair each year. This collection of fine illustrations is very precious in terms of its specificity (pure children book illustrations) and its diversity (from every corner of the world). The styles and techniques used for the illustrations ...

just charming!
This is the classic Christams story we are all familiar with, but has been given an update with charming new illustrations. The pictures are gentle and sweet - adults will love it as much as the children!
The Little Flower King

A beautiful and memorable book.
Pacovska's story transcends age, and her artwork isextraordinary. I fell in love with the red-nosed king at firstglance, and this book is one of my all-time favorites. As the king searches for his princess and his happiness (which he finds), Pacovska's images work their magic on your memory, leaving a permanent and precious impression.

Beautiful!
I've bought a couple of these Bologna Annual books now. They are stunning, I love flipping through the pages and seeing all the different artwork, it's amazing to see how different artists approach the art of illustrating children's books. It's a great book to leave on the coffee table for guests to look through as well!

Weninger and Tharlet Do It Again
Brigitte Weninger and Eve Tharlet, author and illustrator of the popular "Davy" series, have brought us yet another book in the Max Mouse series. This book is about Max Mouse and his friends trying to play a fun game of ball. They're having a good time, but then Rico the Raccoon shows up and takes their ball, apparently for no reason. The kids are all convinced that Rico is bad, but Max has ...

Little Tad Grows Up
This heartwarming story reminds me of Peter Pan, in that the tadpole doesn't want to grow up. The pictures are great and the sotry allows or children to feel the emotions of the little tadpole as he grows up. This book is a geat addition for life cycle literature for Prek to primary ele ed.

Luminous
I am a huge fan of Lizbeth Zwerger, the illustrator of this traditional fairy tale. Technically, her work is extraordinary, but it is the magic she brings to every book she illustrates that lures me in every time. From The Wizard of Oz to Alice in Wonderland, Zwerger brings something new to even the most familiar children's stories. To me, her illustrations are works of art, but they are never ...

Charming Import from Germany
"Miko: No Bath! No Way!" is a charming English adapation of a story orignally published in Japan under the title "MIKO Waschen? NEIN!" In this story, Miko the mouse comes in after a fun day of playing. He's rather dirty and his mother says that he needs a bath. But while she fills up the tub, he goes off and hides. She manages to lure him out with his favorite dinner and learns that he doesn't ...

Teaches kids about the beauty that can be found in nature
Reviewed by Nicholas Lopez (age 6) and Leslie Granier for Reader Views (7/08) Max received a very special gift for his birthday. His Uncle Bill gave him a huge sack of various types of flower seeds. Uncle Bill told Max to scatter the seeds on his way to school so the walk would be more interesting. However, he told Max that dispersing the seeds would be their special secret. Max does as he ...

A powerful story
I first saw this story as a cartoon on tv. It made me cry a lot. It's a very sad story. However, it has a very powerful messages in terms of love, care, poverty, cruelty and dreams. I gave an assignment to my ELD students in high school and some students even told me how touchy the story was. I love the pictures in this book. It's really creative. Overall it's a great, sad story for all ...

"Mom, Can I Pleeeeeease Have a Dog?"
Miko is my favorite new children's picture book character. And in this book, Miko really, really wants a dog. He can't have a dog, though --- his Mom says so. They wouldn't be able to care for it, as they're away from home all the time and it would get lonely. Miko feels this is really too bad, as he's sure he could take good care of a dog. Miko finally gets his chance when his neighbor Mrs. ...

ANOTHER TREASURE FROM LISBETH ZWERGER
Bias admitted up front: I'm a huge fan of Lisbeth Zwerger. It would be nigh on to impossible to select my favorite from the many children's books she has illustrated. I think of the irreplaceable "Wizard of Oz" with a perky little Dorothy in her apron and red hat or the wonderful "Hansel and Gretel" with the rosy cheeked girl pushing the dreadful witch into an oven. One could go on and on. ...

Happy Birthday for All
In "Double Birthday!" Miko is excited about receiving presents, but wonders about his friend Mimiki. (Mimiki is apparently a stuffed mouse, but he's real to Miko.) He learns that Mimiki's birthday is the same day that his is and decides he wants to share his presents with Mimiki. He tries to give him a present, but each one has problems --- for example, he offers Mimiki a cassette recorder, but ...

Some of them want to use you. Some of them want to be used by you.
This book is a bit of a puzzle to me. Back in 1998 a publisher called "Star Bright Books" (still in operation) published Robert Ingpen's stunning dreamscape of a picture book, "The Dreamkeeper". Usually a book only gets one life in this world. "The Dreamkeeper" seems to have two. I received a review copy of the book from Minedition, a colorful division of the Penguin Young Readers Group. It ...

Taking Responsibility
In "It Was Me, Mom!" Miko, the delightful little mouse imported direct from Germany is playing ball inside with his friend, stuffed toy Mimiki. Miko was told not to play inside, but he does anyone and he ends up breaking his Mom's favorite vase. Miko has to decide what he's going to say to his Mom. What will he say? And if he does confess, what will we do to make it to her? This is a great ...

In another wonderful Miko story, Miko the little mouse wants his mother to wake up and play. It's morning and he's ready to start playing, but his Mom asks to sleep in. Sharing Christmas

Peace and Sharing
This was a beautiful book where different types of animals shared and helped each other. What a world this would be if our children were brought up with these values in commercial products instead of the violence that now prevails in games and movies.
