Better Lucky than Smart
I ordered Tabers Cyclopedic guide first, but it arrived with some pages damaged in binding. And it seemed compressed in size and with its explanations. So I sent it back (thank you damage) and switched to Mosby's. Hooray! Bigger & better & more thorough with LOTS of pictures. The words searched for are printed in blue, with the definitions in black, making it easy to scan for your subject. ...

Breastfeeding: A Guide for the Medical Profession
I am a IBCLC and work in a NICU with very small premature &/or sick newborns. As a nurse I very frequently use Dr Lawrence's book when there is a conflict with a doctor over the care of our breastfeeding babies. Dr Lawrence's book is compleatly research based and written with authority --- no touchy/feely all professional. It is a great book to use to study for the lactation exam !!! Get the ...

excellent resource for clinical rounds or every day practice
As a veterinary student, I have found myself using this book on a weekly basis. If you are looking for a quick overview of specific diseases or a complete description of diseases you are learning for the first time, this book is an excellent resource to have in your collection. Every practicing veterinarian should have this text in their library collection.

Gregg E. Ruppel

Well Written Textbook
I teach Respiratory Therapy, and specifically Pulmonary Functions. I have found Ruppel's text to be very comprehensive and easy for students to read. He has written a book for the technologist, not the physician. The informations is well researched and correct according to the established standards set up by the American Thoracic Society and the American College of Chest Physicians. I have read ...

It is easy to see why this textbook has made it to its 50th anniversary edition. The authors have introduced all the latest techniques, including computed radiography. The color throughout is wonderful. This is not only a great student textbook, but a great book for reference purposes. We continue to use this book for 5 different courses in our program and we continue to love it. Thanks for ...

Great Math Review for Nurses
We had to complete this entire book before beginning our LPN nursing coursework. It is a great book! It explains concepts thoroughly and gives plenty of examples so you can go step-by-step to calculate new problems. The answers are in the back so you can check your work before you move on to a new concept. I've used is several times as a resource throughout my LPN year. Highly ...

Quickly settles disputes, answers questions, a "MUST" for all home care nurses & their management teams !!!!
I have the 4th edition (at this time is the most recent edition in print) and as a psych home care nurse, this little, portable wealth of knowledge has helped me validate to management, as well as to public health and other surveyors, the range in situations that qualify "homebound status" for psychiatric patients. Throughout the book there are samples provided to support a variety of situations ...

The most excellent book for cat rescuers, fosterers, etc.
This is a book I've given to a number of people. It is EXCELLENT for anyone doing cat rescue, fostering cats, doing TNR (trap neuter return, to stabilize cat colonies). It's not *that* hard to read! Really sets out and discusses many issues and problems of "multi-cat environment" (> 5 cats). Highly recommended. P.S. (October 12, 2006) Just heard they're working on a new edition!

Excellent resource for the new ICU nurse!!!
I have been a fan of Sylvia Price's Pathophysiology text since I first studied for the CCRN exam in 1982. I have bought periodic updated versions since that time and recommend it to all my preceptees and CCRN study group members. The clarity of her authors' explanations makes understanding the pathophysiology of conditions commonly seen in ICU very easy. I do not have enough words to express ...

really a perfect pic
This book really helped me though out my preceptorship in the operating room. I was thrown in to this unit as a nursing student. the facility had never taken on senior nursing students in a long term segment (7 weeks) and didn't have any idea what to teach me or what to do with me. My preceptor handed me this book and by the end i was able to circulate and scrub on minor cases with complete ...

Histology made easy
Finally a book that encompases the two facets of histology in equal proportions. The Atlas of Functional Histology not only has brilliant visual aspects, but moreover, it also ties in essential written commentary which more than complements. The picture quality is second to none which makes buying this text an easy decision.

Should Rate 100 Stars!!!
Where was this book at the beginning of nursing school?? The first textbook I had for pharmacology was a nightmare!! And the instructor made it worse. I searched high and low for a pharmacology textbook that I can understand, and now, in my third semester, I find this goldmine! I suggest this for anyone for the quick and easy way to study the drugs, and now, I feel better about entering into ...
Acute and Chronic Wounds: Nursing Management

Mosby-Year Book, 1992
Excellent wound care primer
I have read this book and used it as a resource in preparing for wound care certification. I found it invaluable for it's detailed sections on anatomy and especially physiology. It was extremely helpful in gaining an understanding of what happens in a wound and how it heals. There are equally helpful chapters on disease processes and their impact on wound healing, and on choosing dressings ...
