A Very Helpful Book
I really like this textbook. It gives exact directions on how to do stuff with your pics on photoshop. Many other texts are pretty vague, but this one is great for anyone unfamiliar or unsure.. step-by-step help.

Best CSS Book I have ever owned
This is easily the best CSS book I have ever owned. It's very easy to read and provides excellent, and sadly few, examples. Most importantly, the author does a wonderful job helping the reader understand concepts and how and why certain things are implemented. Other books are FULL of examples... although they usually lack the details that someone like me need. The details, writing, and ...

Zen-sational!
For years I've been urging my clients (I'm an Executive Speech Coach) to visually simplify the message... and now I have the perfect book to backup my request - Presentation Zen! Garr Reynolds is a master at presentation design - his ability to distill the message and reduce the visual slide noise is invaluable. A must read for every speaker who wants to learn to create a visually impactful ...

Location Photogrpahy for Commerical and Portrait Photographers
I'll keep this short and sweet. 1. NOT a cookbook or "how to" book. 2. NOT a beginners book. 3. IS a book for high intermediate level and advanced photographers (see#4). 4. This book does not give F stops or other technical information. That's why it's an advanced book. 5. 100% LOCATION photography and how to overcome the hardships of this type of shot. 6. Emphasis on hard core commercial ...

Should be on every web designers shelf
A staple book that has standardized so many design and usability concepts. It isn't that long, but it is so dead-on with usability that this as close to the the Bible you can get for web usability. Full color pages and tons of practical examples make it easy to associate with problems many regular people face. Web interfaces should be mind-numbingly simple and functionality should always take ...

Excellent textbook
I used this book as one of three textbooks in a class I recently taught. This was one of two texts concentrating on social networking. (The other was Derek Powazek's "Design for Community".) The students enjoyed the easy style of the book and the case studies for what works and what does not. The book kicked off more than one interesting discussion on barriers to entry, what makes good design, ...

Best Source on How CSS Works
Stylin' with CSS: A Designer's Guide (2nd Edition) (Voices That Matter)RE: Wyke-Smith's CSS Book: I've come to appreciate this book so much that I don't know where to begin in recommending it. I had read (studied) several books on how to mark up and style web pages, but not until I began reading this one did lingering questions finally get answered at the very outset. For Example, Chapter 2 "How ...

Very Informative!
Of all the books I have read so far that pertain to photography and post-processing - I got more out of this book than all the others combined. I was a little frustrated trying to do a few things in Lightroom, particularly with Workflow. This book taught me so many tips and now I fly through Lightroom like a pro! It made me LOVE a program that I simply just liked......I don't mind Kelby's humor, ...

Scott Kelby's Done It Again
I first bought Kelby's guide to Photoshop Elements 4.0. I was flabbergasted at how easily I learned to do fairly complicated things with the program, and have eagerly upgraded to each new book as I upgraded my software. I whiten teeth and eyes with ease, and have even used his direction to add (or subtract!) people to or from photos. The best thing about these books is their inclusion of EVERY ...

Easy to Consume Web Strategy Knowledge
Did you like "Don't Make Me Think?" If so, this is a must-have addition to your core web strategy, design, and marketing knowledge library. Who wrote this book and why does it matter? Luckily, I had the opportunity to see the authors, Lance and Sandra, present at a recent web conference and I was blown away by their insight into lead generation and how effectively they could communicate it. ...

The perfect weapon to webapp coder block!
Like many of you here, I write web apps. Some are written in the context (and confines) as hobbyist, others are for the job. I'm fortunate enough to have my passion and my career follow parallel disciplines. Unfortunately, it means when I'm stuck on something, its effecting me TWICE as bad as I can neither work nor play! I found this book quite by accident, digging through the digital stacks on ...

Phenomenally Useful -- worth its weight in gold
Here it is Feb 2007, and I've had a website for my business since Feb of 2002. For five years I've been asking people to visit my site and give me feedback for how to improve it. What I usually got back was "lots of great information, Dan." "Easy-to-use navigation." "Loved it. Great site." That wasn't what I was looking for. I wanted a REAL critique with REAL suggestions for how to make it ...

A must have for anyone who uses Dreamweaver and wants to really understand CSS
I couldn't wait to get this book and it exceeded all my expectations. The authors take you through the basics of CSS and then it's on to the fun part of what you can really do with the knowledge you've just learned. Since I use Dreamweaver CS3, this book really helped me integrate the intricacies of that program with the power of CSS. I've had a peek at Dreamweaver CS4 beta and this is the ...

Clear, concise, essential...
I just picked this book up through Amazon, I'm about 3/4 through it and it's been extremely helpful already. I've read other photoshop books, some I've liked more than others, but this one is tops for me. Scott Kelby's books are helpful, but they are more recipe driven and you don't always gain an understanding of why you are doing something. I've read one by Frasier and for me that was all ...

Good advice for the intermediate/advanced designer
Transcending CSS is a book that, as it explains in its opening, isn't intended as a basic overview of CSS. It assumes a solid base of knowledge, and if you have that, the book can be extremely beneficial. That's not to say that the book wouldn't be useful to a novice designer, but they might want to pick it up again after they have more experience with the CSS selectors and attributes Clarke ...

The Easiest Way to Learn Photoshop CS2
Like many of Scott Kelby's other books, this is written in plain english and teaches with such ease, I wonder why it's not included with your copy of CS2? Scott Kelby has a way of teaching you to use this very complicated program that you'll be amazed at how fast you're editing your images like the pro's do. My edition looks like a tattered mess due to it's use and how many times I've ...

I want my whole team to read this!!
I love this book for it's brevity, clarity and simplicity. While everything in this book is obvious and common sense, it is still amazingly useful. You should not underestimate your minds ability to ignore and distort such obvious things, especially when we are emotionally invested in the product. Reading this book is helpful when starting or reviewing a product.
