Little Polar Bear7 reviews
Hans de Beer

North-South Books, 1994

My favorite book when i was little
I love this book!! The illustrations are wonderful and they always captured my attention. The story is of a little polar bear, Lars who goes on an adventure away from his clean, white home in the North Pole. He makes a new friend, who helps him on his adventure. I still love this book. I take it babysitting with me sometimes, and all the kids have liked it too.

My babies loved it!
This was one of the first books we started reading to our twins, and I swear it was their favorite! The illustrations are beautiful. My babies really began paying attention to books at about 7 months -- I think by that age the colors are bright and bold enough.

How Will We Get to the Beach?6 reviews
Brigitte Luciani

North-South Books, 2003

A GUESSING GAME BOOK THAT IS ACTUALLY WELL DONE
Briefly, we have a young lady who wants to go to the beach with her baby and sets out to do so. She has quite a number of items she wants to take with her and after their car breaks down, she must find some sort of transportation to use rather than her broken car. Each mode she attempts to use has some drawback, i.e. the item, such as the bal, a turtle, etc. will not fit. The reader and the ...

Rainbow Fish Big Book226 reviews
Marcus Pfister Herbert

North-South Books, 1995

A good message if you interpret it correctly.
Rainbow fish is a great book for young kids. It has colorful, sparkly images, and a simple story line about sharing. This is a great book for young kids to learn the importance of sharing what they have with others, and that what's on the outside doesn't matter nearly as much as what they have on the inside. I've read many reviews about how the fish is giving away his originality, which left ...

Rainbow Fish Counting1 review
Marcus Pfister

North-South Books, 2004

just ok
I was dissapionted when I got this book. It isn't the quailty that I expected of a Rainbow fish book. It is fine it has the numbers 1-10 with the appropriate number of sea creatures on each page.

The Ugly Duckling2 reviews
Hans Christian Andersen

North-South Books, 2008

The Ugly Duckling
This book was good. It made me sad when the other ducks thought he was a turkey and when the children didn't like him. Iliked the part when he turned into a swan and got to swim with other swans. I think other kids will like to read this book.

Over in the Meadow4 reviews
Olive A. Wadsworth

North-South Books, 2003

Great calming book for toddlers
I received this book as a gift when our daughter was around 10 months old. She was not into it at all, and I put it aside as I thought it had too much text for a small child. However, I remember the gift giver saying that it was amazing how at some point it clicked with her children and they loved this book. At around 12 months of age, my daughter started to show interest in books. I ...

Penguin Pete3 reviews
Marcus Pfister

North-South Books, 1994

Penguin Pete is great!
The books in the Penguin Pete series are great! My son (who will be 3) has enjoyed these book for over a year. However, they are meant for children older than this. My son is fascinated with animal books and stories and we read bigger kid books to him. He still enjoys them.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears4 reviews

North-South Books, 2003

Great for Preschoolers
As a children's librarian, I am often looking for fairy tales written simply for my preschool storytimes. This book meets my needs with large, colorful pictures and simple text. The traditional story is presented although the bears are far from frightening for little children. The bears are the sympathetic characters, especially with their amusement at Goldilock's invasion of their home and ...

Can I Help?1 review
Marilyn Janovitz

North-South Books, 1998

My toddler loves it!
Aubrey, my 21-month-old, adores this book! The illustrations are priceless, and she likes to "read along" with me. The simple message of being able to help, along with Papa wolf's great patience as he is bruised, drenched and thoroughly worn out, makes for an endearing story.

Little Polar Bear Finds a Friend8 reviews
Hans de Beer

North-South Books, 1999

Great illustrations!!
An adult might find the storylines a bit repetitive but my 3 year old loves all of the Lars books. We got her some at xmas and she was so pleased that we bought all the others for her birthday 5 months later and she wants them read to her over and over. She even 'reads' them to her younger brother!
