Excellent! Very well written, very simple and organized. I highly recommend this book!
I'm a reasonably computer savvy person. However, I've been wanting to develop more marketable skills in design... so, recently I've started taking classes in FLASH, ILLUSTRATOR, etc. Then I was told that it would be very beneficial for me to learn HTML and CSS, so, after reading many reviews on Amazon, I bought this book. In a matter of hours, I was designing an XHTML website for myself. I HIGHLY ...
PHP 6 and MySQL 5 for Dynamic Web Sites: Visual QuickPro Guide

Best for getting up to speed fast using PHP 6 and MySQL 5
I'll keep it brief since "Customer" nailed it with their review already, but wanted to say with this book and the free manuals on PHP and MySQL I was up to speed and developed my first dynamic web site in a matter of weeks, reading and learning part-time at night. I wanted to go a bit further than just basic PHP and MySQL as part of a current personal project; researching and learning about ...
Apple Pro Training Series: Logic Pro 8 and Logic Express 8 (Apple Pro Training)

Best Logic book out there
This is not only the most well written tutorial on Logic 8, but should be the model for how tutorial books should be written. It covers each topic in enough detail to fully understand it and get started using and experimenting with. The material really makes sense and sticks because of all the hands-on experience using the lesson material on the accompanying disk. You get to go from ...

If your at all confused...This will help !
I am a new 3D animator who is coming to grasps with the unlimited power of Photoshop. I was really confused with alot of advanced layering techniques, and this book saved me. Really well written, and I would say a must for any beginner animators, and digital artists. The author knows this stuff inside and out and it shows. Very easy to follow along and alot better than some of the other layers ...
The Digital Photography Book

Scott Kelby
Peachpit Press, 2006
Excellent Primer
I've been casually shooting for years, but wanted to start getting serious. I got The Photography Bible, which is a good introduction to all the basics of photography, but that's about all. It doesn't really give you much practical knowledge or advice for how to get out there and take great pictures. This book took up where the other left off excellently, though you could easily start using ...

Williams makes it easy for the rest of us
Once again when a real expert writes a book the complex can seem so simple. This is a gorgeous book. She shows you exactly what to do about keeping items with intellectual connectivity proximate. She holds forth on how to best use Alignment, Repetition, Contrast and Colour for print, web and all types of content. Thoroughly done asd 100% enjoyable ot read. I loved the sections on Fonts; ...

The Digital Photography Book, Volume 2

Scott Kelby
Peachpit Press, 2008
Best book on the market
The polar opposite to the manual for informative camera settings and use, this book is fun (sometimes goofy) reading and REALLY helps you. So many photo books spout how good the writer is or don't tell you how a shot is made, and this makes up for all of them-- the second book "#2" is also incredible.
Scott Kelby's 7-Point System for Adobe Photoshop CS3 (Voices)

Scott Kelby
Peachpit Press, 2007
Excellent book from Scott Kelby
Scott Kelby is a prolific author, but his output is often little more than collections of recycled hints and tips. And all too often it is delivered in a style that Kelby obviously considers as humorous - and I find grating and annoying. In the 7-Point System, however, Kelby is a reformed man. (Reshaped as well, it seems, since he mentions that he lost 100 pounds in a year and trekked 3 ...

The Best iLife book around
When I first got this book I thought I may have wasted my money. Such a large portion of the volume is devoted to iTunes and iTunes easy enough to use that it doesn't need instructions, right? I'm glad to say that I was mistaken. There are lots of features and settings that aren't immediately obvious and I'm now using an old iBook connected to my stereo system as a remote media server accessible ...

great intro
I am moving through this book and very much appreciate the charts for reference, the clarity in his explanations, the repetition of important distinctions, and the repetition shortcuts throughout the exercises so that by the end of the book, you really can use the shortcuts. So far, I especially appreciate the in depth explanation of blending modes, that I have never found in any of the other ...

Zag Zag Zigidy Zag de Zag
Knocked this one out in a single flight. Well written, easy to follow. Maybe a little too easy. Would have liked a little more meat. Consider this the Cliff's Notes to Differentiate or Die. Both great books, this is easier to digest. Neumeier is a brand genius, he gets it and he can present it well in a concise format.

first rate!
Most of us have gotten used to moving an image through Adobe Camera Raw quickly and doing all the real work in Photoshop. In earlier versions, this may have been the right thing to do, but the new ACR is a much better tool than PS, and you can easily back out changes. The only sort of things you must do in PS are the localized changes, and there are all kinds of things you can do in ACR that you ...

Good update from MX2004
Garrick Chow's approach includes not only how to use Adobe's Dreamweaver but also the bigger picture of how and why a web site is organized and how to do it. Dreamweaver CS3 has so many tools to help us maintain the integrity of the sites we design and implement. Automating repetitious tasks through templates, libraries, accessibility tools, and the History features make our jobs easier as ...
