Really Great Cookbook!!!
I received this cookbook as a wedding gift, and I think it has been the one thing I have used over and over. I have yet to make a recipe from this cookbook that is "average." If you make nothing else, the Applebarn Fresh Apple Cake is worth the price of this book. I need to buy a second volume because the original is wearing out!

Introspective.
For a land-bound Arkansas boy, BEACH WALKS opens new vistas of nature and beauty that I have not experienced as a way of life but only in passing on too-quick vacations. But Thatcher's introspection transcends the Coastal life to all who are one with God and nature.

Well Worth The Price!
I had purchased this a few weeks ago. I work a lot of hours and I have a 2hour daily commute. I decided I was tired of blah foods and wanted to do something about it. So, I purchased some new cookbooks. This one is one that I have been using the most. I made a Chili Soup, Easy Brown Rice, Beef Stew, a Baked Rice dish. At tops my prep time was around 10 minutes. There is a lot to recommend in this ...

I remmeber momma
I am a 59 year old male in search of receipes that will yeild the memories of my childhood in Alabama. I have found it in the Southern Cook's Handbook. This cook book is the answer to "how did they do that?". I thought I knew how to bake a ham, but then I tried the step-by-step guide to baking a ham, and boy what a difference it made. The spiral cut ham I baked for Easter was tender, moist, and ...

Right On!
It often seems today that the voice of reason is trying to make itself heard above a howling, never-ending hurricane of perilous irrationality. It shouts, it pleads, it warns, it explains. Sometimes, it even damns the stubbornly, consciously deaf. It knocks on the doors of men's minds with the same persistence that the hurricane rattles and buffets those doors. But most people, it also seems, ...

Delightful
A delightful read on a subject I've never given much thought to. The style of prose is easily read, intelligent in language and the topic one that, much to my surprise, deserves an audience. Thanks to Daisy, I'll make it a point to visit Mississippi and very soon.

"Simple Fitness" is a Jewel !
This small volume is a priceless jewel, especially for the busy professional, or for anyone else who is time-constrained - both young and old. Each day's entry is a nugget of truth for physical, emotional, and intellectual health. One page a day keeps the Doctor away. I highly recommend this simple, small treasure!

Story of great character and integrity
Reviewed by Susan Pettrone Reader Views (8/06) "Arthur C. Guyton never thought of himself as extraordinary. Maybe that's what made him so special". And so begins this book on the far from ordinary life, dreams and inventions of the man, known simply as Ott. Written by Jerusha Bosarge and published by Quail Ridge Press, within this book lays the story of a man who proved that great things ...

A truly amazing and beautiful book!!
Story of a Storm is a truly amazing book written and illustrated by an author and children who obviously LIVED the storm. My family and I also lived it. The book captured the REAL emotions at a level anyone can relate to. This book has been a valuable tool in the healing process for my children. Brining us closer to the ones we love
My brother is in the Air Force, so this cookbook makes us feel a little closer to him even though he's stationed far away. The recipes range from simple to complicated, but all seem family orientated. There are little excerpts about the Air Force and its lingo, which makes the cookbook stand out from other cookbooks. The really fun part is that my brother recognized several of the contributing ...

Best book ever for first time gumbo makers--you'll be back!
The first time I ever made gumbo from this book, it was a raving success. I didn;t think I was ever going to try this marvelous New Orleans recipe when I tasted it there. The opening chapter called step-by-step to great gumbo is exactly that and led me through it. Now I feel comfortable trying all sorts of gumbos and dazzling my guests. Great book

Delicious, authentic recipes; clear instructions.
Absolutely the best Louisiana cookbook out there! As a native of south Louisiana, I've never found a Louisiana cookbook that has truly authentic dishes--like the ones I grew up with--but this one does. And every recipe I've tried from this book has been delicious. It's not a large book, but EVERY recipe is worth making.

Hope it's as good as the original Bell's Best!
I'm ordering this now -- I can't wait! The original Bell's Best cookbook from Jackson, MS that my mom still uses lies in loose pages in a kitchen drawer. Some of its food-spattered pages are still held together with a ragged duct-tape binding; others are tucked into plastic bags or wrapped with a rubber band. We don't care. We still keep going back to it, more than any other cookbook. Ever. ...

Interesting and Entertaining
Although I am not a native Texan, I have choose to live here. Texas Alphabet can be enjoyed by everyone who has a love for state trivia or the alphabet. Each letter is used to tell about things unique to Texas, and many of the cities (large and small) are included throughout the book. As a middle school teacher, I found this book to be a great way to get my students interested in Texas history ...

Ghosts! Personal Accounts of Modern Mississippi Hauntings

The Ghosts of Ole Miss
The key word in the title of this book is "Modern" for the haunts described in this book are all of an ongoing nature. This is not to say that some of these hauntings haven't been going on for quite some time because they have been, but these are not old legends that deal with purported events that no living person has witnessed. Each and every story in this book is backed up by eyewitness ...
The Turtle Saver

Save a turtle, gain grace
A wonderful book about kindness and how a good deed spent always comes back many times multiplied. A kind motorist helps a turtle cross a road allowing the turtle to survive. That act starts a chain of other acts that ultimately come back to the motorist. This book is written as one long epic length (almost) poem that is easy to read. Enjoy this book with a child.
