Making Artisan Chocolates

Andrew Garrison Shotts

Very useful book
This is a good and very useful book. Several recipes are included that can be made by the beginner, and several that require more experience. Even so, the statement by another reviewer that a reader should be prepared to spend some money on practice ingredients is a good one. Tempering the chocolate is absolutely key to making good artisan chocolates, and reading a book cannot substitute for ...

Interesting, original, beautiful, well-explained, necessary
Though I am able to make a lot of different crafts as I've been a teacher in France during several years, and author of one book released in 1999 in French, I precise, I always had problems with using photos in my crafted items, as I often had very bad surprises. That's why I bought this book, to learn, to know more about working on and around photos. I also like to find something different and ...

Very Helpful
I have the Carroll book as well - I like them both. Some overlap, but between this and the Carroll book you pretty much learn everything you would want to.

wonderful book with lots of inspiration!
This book is great for people who want to start their own art journal. It gave me a lot of great ideas and inspiration. There are a lot of personal stories to read and they really helped me with what I wanted to write in my journal. It doesn't all have to be happy. You can write the "real" stuff in life too. :)

excellent reference
This is a well-written, extremely accessible edition for lay beekeepers who want to get to know their creatures, and take first steps to caring for and cultivating the bees' magical harvest. Great photos, helpful tips and concise essays on the art of apitherapy too.

Sharpen your art-journaling tools and get crackin'
Maybe it's because my copy is from the second printing, but I didn't find the glaring editing mistakes another reviewer was appalled to find. I noticed a typo or two but that was the extent. True Vision packs a hefty punch. It will appeal to a mixed audience. There are basic and innovative prompts (on every other page) geared to those just discovering the world of art journaling, or making a ...

When I get the book it was a little bit different than what I though it would be. But I really like it, it's very artistic.

How does one evaluate a person's soul?
How does a reviewer "Rate" or "Review" another artists' ART? This was a difficult task for me, because as my 1st sentence stated, it's quite difficult to rate an Artists' personal Art. Basically, it's like trying to evaluate a person's inner soul! This book is so well photographed & so detailed and colorful! Dawn DeVries Sokol has done a beautiful job at displaying all the entries that ...

An Enlightening book
Although I am very familiar with working with Metal, and many other forms of crafting, I knew little of Blacksmithing. I have always been interested in Blacksmiths since I was a child, but knew nothing of their background, history, and the tricks of the trade so to say that they used to form beautiful and more importantly, useful items that they created. I recently had the opportunity to work ...

The Elizabeth Zimmerman of Sewing
Great book of chic and easy projects that actually look great! The idea of a one piece pattern reminds me of Elizabeth Zimmerman's style of one piece knitting - all you need to do is sew the seams together to finish the garment. These projects are quick and easy and work well alone or with embellishments. Bottomline, this book is a base for creating an entire wardrobe, down to a purse! The ...

Loved It!
I have always loved the work of Lynne Perrella, but she has outshone even herself by compiling this book of artists from the same ilk as herself. Being a compulsive collecter and an artist myself, this book was irrestible and to see what other artists collect is both engaging and delicious at the same time! Congratulations to Lynne Perrella for this wonderful book. I have already researched ...

Yarn as Art
I am relatively new to spinning, so my handspun is never perfect and even, but it is fun and I like it. This book gives the opportunity to think of yarn itself as a freestanding piece of art. It is exciting to see the colors and interaction of fibers in making a ball of yarn. Perhaps it is possible to think of yarn for yarn's sake. Actually the section on what to make with the yarn is ...

Not your typical calligraphy book
Calligraphers buy lots of books. Most of us own a copy of Johnston's Writing and Illuminating and Lettering. We look wistfully in our bank accounts and decide we can't really justify the facsimile edition of the St. John's Bible, a unique calligraphic wonder of our time. I have over two shelves just with calligraphy books. Some of them are straightforward how-to manuals (a boon for people who ...

From another cat lover - leeomahoney
Whole Health for Happy Cats has become my cat bible. It lives in the kitchen with my `human' recipe books. Like them, it's covered in...ahem... `stuff', as I refer to it so often, particularly with regard to making nutritionally-balanced, cat-appropriate food. My three cats are benefiting greatly from the info on nutrition and gentle holistic means for treating illness and disease. I'm also ...

Fun and easy!
That's what this book is good at. Easy to follow directions, great patterns, that can be changed to fit - your doll. But most of all, a easy way to get that face looking, like a face. Not a blob of colors, where the eyes are not in the right place, or are too big on one side, and smaller on the other. This book also has great tips for those who are more experianced. The face intimadates most ...

Great book!
I love the designs in this book and the instructions are very easy to follow. I am a beginner quilter and I am not into the look of the old-fashioned, traditional quilts. So this book is great for me. I definitely recommend this product!

Visual Inspiration & Practical Application
Superb illustrations on so many techniques and use of various types of media that this book will be a permanent part of my beading library for years to come. In the Appendix it has a few basic jewelry making techniques to get you started, and a Index with a list of the Artists who created the wonderful eye candy in this book. The Resources Index has a solid list of jewelry suppliers too. ...
