This is an excellent series to interest struggling readers in beginning chapter books. The series also has an educator's activity guide that is helpful.

My son loves this book...
I bought this book as filler, to receive free shipping. It's a small, inexpensive book. The illustrations are very cute and the format is nice. It has the letter of the alphabet and then vehicles that start with that letter. It's been great alphabet and two-word phrase practice for my 22-month old. He enjoys reading this book with me and he now says "garbage truck" and "big truck." I'm very happy ...

Excellent, Motivational for all ages
This makes a great book. I gave one to a friend who's daughter is going to Kindergarten, I bought one for my little one and sent one to my brother who needed a little pick me up to get back on the right track. Its very motivational and I recommend it to every one of all ages.

Potty Book long enough to keep them there
This is a great little book that has enough pages that my child was able to remain interested in it long enough so that he would sit on the potty for a few minutes. I think this is a good aid to potty training.

The book that influenced our culture!
Times have changed. Little kids left home alone and shouldn't they have been told by their parents not to let anyone in? This is the book that must of led to a lot of wild house parties and may have spawned many party while your parents are away flicks (Risky Business, etc). A good fun read with a lilting cadence!

Something Fishy to Me!!!
Super Book, as are all Dr. Seuss books! Book was new and as described. Fast shipping...rec'd in 4 days. It would be nice though if Amazon didn't set the shipping rates so the sellers could use media mail for their books to make it cheaper for the purchaser! If they didn't charge the flat $3.99 rate, it would make purchasing more affordable and one could do it more often! I'll buy from this ...

Nothing new
I wish this book had had more depth to it. There are too many different points of view from minor characters that are not developed well. We're supposed to believe that the people of Sparks are "struggling" through a harsh winter, but I saw no description or details that made me believe there was any real danger. In fact, there was hardly any description of anything or anyone. I never felt a ...

A Great book to teach ABC's!
I got this book because I wanted something that I could use to help teach my son his ABC's. I bought it when he was about 15 months and immediately he enjoyed the book. We would sing the song, read through the entire book, I'd point out the letters etc. I find this book a very helpful starting point for learning the alphabet, a fun way! One idea for younger toddlers, when I started we'd just ...

Great for early readers
Our five year old son is an early reader, and one of the problems we've had is finding good books that are challenging enough, yet age appropriate and interesting. A lot of the chapter books we found to be written more for children 7 years or older, and these didn't hold much interest for him, maybe because the material was too complex. On the other side, if the material was age appropriate ...

"Happy Birthday To You!"
Instead of purchasing birthday cards this year, I purchased several books and wrote a personal message inside the cover. I then passed it around at the birthday parties and invited the guests to also write a message. This will be a wonderful keepsake item for my children and my nieces and nephews.

So Can You!
Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? Dr. Seuss This is a book of sounds. It helps beginning readers learn to sound out words. When I was working on words with my oldest daughter, I soon found the my second daughter was also reading the words. Before you know it the children have learned all the sounds along with Mr. Brown. I highly recommend this book for young readers. Jill ...

A GEM!!! MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CHILDREN'S BOOK (moooooore stars!!!!)
I got this one as a child, back in the sixties. My copy is in Dutch and although a little weathered it's not falling apart yet. The copy I'm reviewing here is a reprint that misses several spreads, but sad though it may be, if you don't know about it you won't miss it. Richard Scarry shows different "people" (animals in clothes), all kinds of professions, how they interact and how one depends ...

Richard Scarry's Please and Thank You Book (Pictureback(R)) I originally bought this book for my son and now I'm buying it for my grand son. Horton Hears A Who!

A timeless masterpiece for children of all ages
Horton Hears a Who is a masterpiece. Often heralded as a book on friendship, it is much more than that. Theodor Seuss Geisel was an outspoken critic of Hitler and Mussolini, and Horton Hears a Who has been said to have been Geisel's call to support the fledgling democracy in Japan after World War II. But Horton is much more than that. Horton Hears a Who is a reminder of the importance of ...
