The New Baby54 reviews
Mercer Mayer

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2001

Very cute
This book is very cute. My 3 1/2 year old loves it. We're expecting baby #2 and I wanted him to get used to the idea of soon having a new baby in the house. It's a short and simple book and I read it to him probably 10 times in a row the day we got it! He loves it!

Best Baby Gift Ever!
I am so overwhelmed by the exhausting lists of baby registries these days that I decided to find a signature gift that would make life a lot simpler when baby showers came up. This Dr. Suess Box Set is PERFECT! I have given it to several friends/family members and it always seems to be greatly appreciated as they are cherished for a lifetime rather than another sleeper or bib or blanket that will ...

The City of Ember: The First Book of Ember501 reviews

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2003

Raced through it
I bought this book because I remembered an excerpt from a story in my 8th grade reading book that had an underground city like Ember. This isn't the same story, but I love the concept. I bought it about 8pm or so, and I finished it around 1130pm the same night. (reading on my netbook, no less. lol) I immediately had to buy the next book in the series. I'm assuming this is a YA book, but it's ...

Happy Birthday to You!47 reviews
Dr. Seuss

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1959

Really Great Book :)
We just got this book for our 3 year olds birthday. My husband read it to him as soon as he got up so it would start off his birthday (since he wouldn't get his present until after my husband got home from work). BIG hit! He loved it and still loves it :)It is a longer Dr Seuss book, be warned! It isn't as quick a read as say, cat in the hat.

Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks from A to Z (A Chunky Book(R))56 reviews
Richard Scarry

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1990

Cute board book!
I loved Richard Scarry books as a child and I was so excited to get this board book for my nine-month-old son. The illustrations are so cute of the various cars, trucks, and vehicles, and of the Richard Scarry animals driving them. The book is a nice short length so it maintains my son's interest when I read it to him. This is a great board book for babies and I highly recommend it!

My relunctant reader zipped thru these & begged for more!
I've been struggling to find books that interest my 11 year old-delayed reader. He actually really enjoys History, so finding these books that call to his interest in history, encouraged him to zip through them, and "forced" me to buy the next 4 in the series! Thank you Magic Tree House!!

The Hound of Rowan: Book One of The Tapestry50 reviews

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2007

Unexpected Pleasure to read.
I sent a sample to my kindle to just read a few pages over quickly. I didn't think I would really read it, it was a book for a younger audience, I thought 'how much could I really enjoy it?'. Boy, was I wrong. From the very beginning you start to feel for the main character Max and his dad the lovably Mr. McDaniel's. You feel the character's excitement and fear as he and his best friend and ...

Get the kids reading!
I'm a parent of an almost first grader and we have started reading these books together as our summer reading at home. I read a chapter and my son reads a chapter. I'm having a hard time understanding why anyone would knock these books--especially for the supposed bad grammar. Now, I suppose if one expected young children to be reading classical literature we could debate proper English use. ...

Mercer Mayer

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2001

"Happy Father's Day, Dad!"
Hey Dad, if you are looking for a book about developing your relationship with your daughter, this one will cleverly get you in the mood for a bonding experience. Dads need to set aside time for their daughters on a regular basis. It is probably good to get away from the "home" and note some interesting places where Dad and daughter can bond, without any other family members watching on. ...

The Lorax (Classic Seuss)153 reviews
Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1971

A powerful story about competing interests, for children and adults...
In 1981's, a forestry-dependent community in north-coastal California (Laytonville) proposed removing The Lorax from the required reading list for second graders. One comment was, "To teach our children that harvesting redwood trees is bad is not the education we need." The numerous lawsuits and objections regarding sustainable forestry practices were a bleeding wound to these communities. ...

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1996

Mr.Brown Is Fun!
What a fun guy! My children would like to meet Mr. Brown! We've been repeating the lines of this book for years and years! During any thunderstorm someone will say,"Boom! Boom! Boom! Mr. Brown's a wonder!..." They love the "dip dops" and the "pips"! They love to try to repeat all of the sounds when they're listed in rhyme. The illustrations are captivating and the words run together like a charm! ...

Love, love, love it!
Who can honestly say they don't like Dr. Seuss?? (Okay - maybe a few can...). But, every kid I have ever known, big or small, loves this book ~ and I am one of them. It's fun, colorful, goofy and can be read over and over again without getting stale.

Very nice book for 2yr old and above
I bought this book for my 2yr old son and in a single sitting he could listen to the whole book read aloud to him. He found the rhymes very interesting. He quickly caught on to the phrases - that bump made us jump (and will jump saying that), what a shame (and will laugh saying this), loved the thing1 and thing2 :). Overall i am glad i could get such a book for my kid.

Yes, We LOVE Green Eggs and Ham, Sam I Am!
Our first grade teacher, Mrs. Evatt, introduced our class to this Dr. Seuss book during our Dr. Seuss week. As a class we voted to rate this book with 5 stars because it was one of our very favorites. Dylan loves this book because of the ending. He really liked it when the main character finally tried green eggs and ham and told Sam that he does like them. Abby loves this book because Sam I Am ...

Fabulous books!
All of the Magic Tree House books have excellent story lines that keep the children engaged and they also learn real facts. It is hard to find books that are not overly violent or mature in content these days. These books do a good job at keeping the content interesting and adventurous without going over the top. My daughter started reading them in late first grade, and has re-read several of ...

Junie B. Jones's First Boxed Set Ever! (Books 1-4)210 reviews
Barbara Park

Random House Books for Young Readers, 2001

Dear one-star reviewers: Congratulations on missing the point!
Um. People? Here's the thing about Junie B. Jones: She's supposed to be a little kid. She's not a generic little Anykid, no. She probably doesn't talk exactly the same way that your particular six-year-old does, just the same way that your six-year-old doesn't talk the same way as every other kid in their class. She's also a funny, headstrong, hyperactive little kid who's impulsive and ...
