Inspiring!
As an artist and photographer I was inspired by the beauty captured in the images of Nilsson's book "Life", but as a doctor with some knowledge of the subject, I was intrigued by how amazing the body really is. He has caught certain actions and moments (like conception) that were never seen so clearly before. The electronmicroscopy is astounding! Although this book is almost entirely photographs, ...

Douglas Kennedy's Talent Shines in this Novel
This is an extraordinary novel. It is extraordinary because the author writes from the perspective of a woman. Writing in the first person as a woman, might not sound that unusual, however Kennedy expresses her most inner feeling and insanities as a woman experiencing Post Natal Depression. You might say that a `man' would not have the slightest clue about such things, but after reading the novel ...

This book is great!!![.]
Ok, I got this book, and I am in love with it. First of all,I loved "If Only", which was her first book. But, it was story that never got finished. She leaves the first one with you wondering if her solo career is gonna make it, and this one picks up where she left off, and shows her spunky greatness. This book, along with the great pictures is very good. Anything and everything is shown about ...

Great read
I'm surprised to be recommending a book about an alcoholic middle aged mum so enthusiastically, but if you read Paula Spencer and don't love it, there's a good chance you're an idiot. I didn't pick this up for a couple of weeks after I bought it - I wasn't ready for what I thought might be a dark read, but I needn't have worried. I'm sorry to have finished it.

"Two ways to tie yourself to a place: fall in love or commit a crime, assimilate or violate."
(4.5 stars) Rajiv Travers, the son of Gerard Travers and an Indian woman whom Gerard claims to have bought for twenty pounds, finds himself "orphaned" and uprooted at the age of five, when he is sent from India to London to live with his father, a man he does not know. By the age of twelve he has been abandoned several more times, both physically and emotionally, and has been sent to Pisgah, ...

Quite Simply an Amazing and Remarkable Book. . .
I don't know how else I can describe this book except to say that I disliked absolutely nothing about it. Except that it had to end. These last few weeks have been enjoyable, and thought provoking, getting to know these strangers as they met and came together, all of them sad and yet hopeful in their own ways. The Parisian setting had its own appeal, but that was not the story. The story ...

I have seen a lot of cartoon collections in my time, but this is without doubt the funniest and cleverist I have ever seen. This sadly underrated book is pure genius!! A must-have!!

TIHKAL
This is perhaps one of the more important books out there on the subject of entheogens and they're spiritual importance. there is a new paradigm that is emerging and it is work like this that is helping to bring it about. we can no longer base our understaning of the world off of 17th century science and philosophy, physics and biology has tuaght us so much more , via systems theory and quantum ...

Must read on 20th century Europe
Geert Mak strikes the perfect balance between the description of key trends in 20th century European history and the life of ordinary people. Chapter after chapter he is able to sketch the particular mood of the town he is visiting. Also, the book is perfect to tickle the interest of advanced high school or college students in history.

A Literary Thrilled with Teeth
If this is literature, then its more exciting than I'm used to; and if its a thriller, then its one of the best-written books in the genre that I've come across in a while. In Bareback (the UK title for Benighted), Kit Whitfield gives us a whole new world, a world that emerges fully formed from the author's imagination. Whitfield has clearly spent a lot of time getting to grips with the world she ...

Excellent book: One of the best ever on what it means to be Indian
This is a tremendous book. I am Indian, but grew up in a very western household in India, and have spent my whole life thinking about what it means to be Indian. This book more than any other has shed light on this question. In writing about Indian attitudes towards power, money, technology or culture, Pavan Varma hits the nail on the head on what makes the Indian civilization so different than ...
Dancing Naked

Margaret Austin

Inspirational!
Having recently moved to New Zealand from the UK, and having always had a fascination about dancing and nudity, it's perhaps no surprise that this book caught my attention. It is an autobiography of one woman's ascent from Sunday School teacher in NZ to performance artist and eventually writer in Europe. Margaret Austin provides wonderful descriptions of Amsterdam and Paris in the 1980's as ...
