What is Graphic Design? (Essential Design Handbooks)3 reviews
Quentin Newark

RotoVision, 2007

Absolutely essential graphic design book !!
As a graphic designer, this is a recent discovery (and a very welcome addition) to my collection. Quentin Newark is a member of Atelier Works, one of the leading design studios in the UK. I haven't heard of it/him before, but i gladly found that he took a big gamble writing a book with the "definitive" title "What is graphic design" and won. Newark's writings are sincere, humorous and ...

Lighting for Portrait Photography13 reviews
Steve Bavister

Rotovision, 2007

By far, my favorite
I am a portrait photographer and I pull this book out all the time to review lighting set ups and get inspiration. A definate must have for any photographer. I especially love that the book extensively covers one and two light set up and using foamcore bookends. You don't need a bazillion lights to create amazing images.

The Packaging and Design Templates Sourcebook (Graphic Design)2 reviews
Luke Herriott

RotoVision, 2007

Wow!
I love this book. The templates are amazing, but easy enough to alter into your own design. Sometimes as a student you need a starting point. My last project turned out amazing and I believe I'll use this book as a reference for along time. I am even interested in other books by this author and Rotovision Publishing. The pictures are great and the design on the packaging a lone is worth it. This ...

Lighting the Nude: Top Photography Professionals Share Their Secrets18 reviews
Roger Hicks, Frances Schultz

Rotovision, 2006

My Favorite Book on Nude Photography
This is without a doubt my favorite book on nude photography. Its not that it is full of whitty text, or even step by step how to. In fact, to recreate the look of some of these images will require some practice and patience. What I love about this book is how it inspries you with every page. The pictures are top notch, and the diagrams will help you understand how the shot was performed. I've ...

What is Exhibition Design? (Essential Design Handbooks)2 reviews
Lee Skolnick, Jan Lorenc, ...

RotoVision, 2007

Great Resource for Inspiration
As a graduate student studying Exhibition Design and totally new to the field, this book gives a fantastic overview of what the practice really is. I find myself going back to the book a lot to find inspiration for projects. The best part of the book is the list of companies and and examples of work they have created. It gives you an idea of who you may want to work with in the future. I also met ...

Art Directors Annual 86 (Art Directors Annual)1 review
The Art Directors Club

RotoVision, 2008

dvd quality
it is a very good book about graphic design and advertising. I love looking at it but as for the dvd, it is very poor quality. The contents in the dvd is no problem, but the quality of vision is not good.

Digital Photography Workshops: Nudes: Unique Course in a Book Taking You from Beginner to Expert (Digital ...7 reviews
Duncan Evans

Rotovision, 2006

Digital Photography Workshops: Nudes
I have not studied it in detail but it is clearly writtern and provides good workshop type demonstrations which a photographer could apply just as well to clothed subjects. I wish you would expand this format to all other types of photography. I like the nude but am mostly interested in other types of clearly written material. It is an excellent book and is erotic withoug being suggestive. ...

The World's Top Photographers: Nudes (World's Top Photographers)3 reviews
Anthony LaSala

Rotovision, 2007

Mixed, as you'd expect
These dozens of photographers have contributed over 170 of their finest works to this collection. Their visions are all over the place, from Argentini's argent models in arching poses, through Bitesnich's scultpural compositions, Friedler's face-first documentaries, Kuhn's sense of crowding and loneliness, Karsten's happy eroticism, and many more. The coffee-table format (or a little smaller) ...

The Essential Underwater Photography Manual: A Guide to Creative Techniques and Essential Equipment2 reviews
Larry Tackett, Denise Tackett

Rotovision, 2007

Nice book
This book offers a nice general introduction to underwater photography, and is relatively current with its equipment discussions, etc. It offers a nice introduction to both photography in general (f-stops, exposure, etc) and the special considerations you'll face when shooting underwater (color changes with depth, strobe usage, etc). While it's targeted to those with full underwater camera ...

Photographing People: Portraits, Fashion, Glamour23 reviews
Roger Hicks, Frances Schultz

Rotovision, 2006

Solid Book, Some Silly Setups
This is a good book, definitely not for beginners, and some of the setups shown are ridiculously overimplemented.

Charlotte Rivers

RotoVision, 2007

great
I think its a great book for some fresh Ideas. It shows many styles as well as designers from all over the country. Every subject matter and every other company can be seen in this book. I like the short paragraphs about each poster. Not too much text, more images. GREAT

Lighting for Nude Photography, Revised Edition10 reviews
Rod Ashford

Rotovision, 2007

Typical British understatement
Don't get this book if you are looking for a detailed, "how to" manual. You will learn more if you have mastered the basics of lighting and working with models already. Think of it more as a master class than an instruction manual. I suspect, however, that you will find at least one image or technique that helps you find your own creative "voice."
