Outstanding product support
An advanced text book, and the gold standard in the field. 1441 pages of facts packed one on one, with accompanying illustrations. Product support with online access, ability to down load illustrations, accompanying patient interactive CD, all blew my mind. I have not seen such product support excellence in my thirty year medical career. Ralph Hyden, MD

Textbook of Medical Physiology: With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access (Textbook of Medical Physiology)75 reviews
Arthur C. Guyton, John E. Hall

Saunders, 2005

Guyton prepares you for the shelf
I bought both this book and Costanzo for my first year physio class and loved the Guyton book. He explains everything very well so that you understand why systems work the way they do. Costanzo, while easy to read, tends to dumb the information down, and as a result, you end up memorizing facts instead of understanding concepts. At my medical school, we take the shelf as the final, and after ...

Foundations of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing: A Clinical Approach, Fifth Edition (Foundations of ...6 reviews
Elizabeth M. Varcarolis, Verna Benner Carson, ...

Saunders, 2006

Much Improved Fifth Edition.
Any book of thys type that has gone through five editions has to have something going for it, and This book has many. Perhaps the most important is the writing style which is as light and casual as it can be considering the subject. The goal is, of course, to prepare the student for a career. The book combined instructional material with case histories that illustrate how a particular case, ...

The Language of Medicine13 reviews
Davi-Ellen Chabner

Saunders, 2007

Medical Book
I purchased Language of Medicine. This book is great for those entering the Medical field. The pictures included are high in detail and very explanatory. Also included is a CD with more information and Medical games. The price was right as well. I've spoken to other students in my class who purchased this same book from the school's bookstore. Their complaint was that they paid $25.00 more ...

Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RNŽ Examination (Saunders Comprehensive Review for Nclex-Rn)101 reviews
Linda Anne Silvestri

Saunders, 2007

Many questions, helpful rationales
This NCLEX review book has the most questions, with its CD-ROM, with the most helpful rationales that I've found so far. It covers fundamentals, pediatrics, maternity, med-surg, mental health and more. The CD-ROM is compatible with my Windows Vista operating system. I only wish it had more "choose all that apply" and delegation questions.

Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology, Second Edition24 reviews
Edward Klatt, Vinay Kumar

Saunders, 2004

Great book for reviewing path
This book should be required in schools for pathology. The questions are excellent, explanation clear and well written, and the book was immensely helpful for all the blocks (we had system-based curriculum). Yes the questions are long but that makes it good practice for step1. This is also one of the few books that helped me in both step1 and school exam studying. Highly recommended.

Atlas of Human Anatomy, Professional Edition20 reviews
Frank H. Netter

Saunders, 2006

Get this one
This atlas offers you the complete body parts. You will never miss even just a single detail of the part you are looking or studying at. This is the best to use together along with Rohen and to compare with the real human structures for better understanding. Because real bodies are far more hard to understand compared to that of idealized drawings.

Pharmacology for Nursing Care28 reviews
Richard A. Lehne

Saunders, 2006

This book got me through pharmacology
Pharm was definitely my hardest subject during nursing school. I had a hard time keeping all the drug classes straight, but this incredible textbook gave me the exact tools I needed to understand the drugs. With Lehne's sense of humor (in chapter 1 she writes a note to the "chemophobes" - those of us who are scared of chemistry class!) makes this text book interesting and easy to read.

Nursing Research
Great layout, summary at the end of each chapter. The each chapter begins with a list of outcome goals and terms with page numbers. CD with text is a great reference with quizzes and exams. The accompany website has additional test questions, quizzes and crosswords puzzles for each chapter. (Offers more then some other text on the website). Very glad my instructor chose this text.

Medical Terminology: A Short Course8 reviews
Davi-Ellen Chabner

Saunders, 2005

Very informative and easy to follow.
I purchased this book to refresh my knowledge. I had enrolled in college and wanted to test out of their Medical Terminology course. I had taken Anatomy & Physiology in the past and had worked as a medical secretary in a hospital so I was looking to feel more confident with my word knowledge. This book was easy to follow and was very helpful. It has a lot of diagrams and pictures to give ...

Orthopedic Physical Assessment (Orthopedic Physical Assessment (Magee))8 reviews
David J. Magee

Saunders, 2007

Great contribution to medical education, poor photographs
I bought this textbook together with Ferri's Clinical advisor with great enthusiasm. Though this book has fewer contributors, it offers enormous amount of information on physical assessment. Other than the reference pages at the end of each chapter, you cannot spot a single page that does not have a drawing, a photograph, charts, tables, or tips. You cannot resist but feel great appreciation to ...
