Building Strong Brands
18 reviews
David A. Aaker
Simon & Schuster Ltd, 2002
A Classic
One of the few substabtial texts about brand building. More often than not you'll find little more than rethoric in books about assessing and planning your brand. The line between actual brand management knowledge and shameless PR has become so thin that one has to be thankful for Aaker's orthodoxy. In the post-whatever era it is reassuring to hear that brand is still a relatively graspable ...
Bespoke: Savile Row Ripped and Smoothed
Richard Anderson
Simon & Schuster Ltd, 2009
This is the true-life story of a boy who quit school to become an apprentice on Savile Row, home to London's most venerable tailors, and wound up owning his own shop on the world-famous 'Golden Mile', where he hand-cuts exquisite suits for a clientele including royalty, politicians, literati, business tycoons, and media stars. On a bright, bitterly cold and snowy morning in January 1982, 17-year-old Richard Anderson made his way with his father ...

Two Pregancy Classics
This book is certainly a must-have for every pregnant woman. It was a staple for me during my pregancies. I'd also recommend The Miracle of Me from conception to birth if you have young children (around 7/8 and under) and are looking for a great resource to explain pregancy and fetal development to them in terms they can understand. The Miracle of Me Two pregnancy must-haves in my opinion.

This Really Works
I highly recommend that you read 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne if you're looking to transform your life for the better. The teachings are simple, clear, and easy to put into practice in your life. The presentation is powerful since there are so many high profile contributors included in this book. In truth this is ancient wisdom presented in a modern 'package' that is relevant for use in ...

The Inspiration for my New-Found Compassion
For the first time in my life, BECAUSE of Dr. Amen's book, my outlook on sick & suffering people, is FOREVER altered. I am deeply grateful for this book, for Dr. Amen's work, his compassion, and his graciousness in sharing it with the world. I, like most people, have expended energy on judging certain people, and groups of people. After a huge spiritual & emotional break-through while reading ...
The Hacienda: How Not to Run a Club
1 review
Peter Hook
Simon & Schuster Ltd, 2008
Hooky can write
This is one entertaining book: it recounts the problems Hooky and New Order and Tony Wilson, let's say everyboy in Factory, ran into by running one of the most famous clubs around. For thso who do not know: Peter Hook is/was the bassplayer with Joy Divisoin/New Order and their success financed Factory records and then the famous Hacienda. As he calls it: how not to run a club. Because despite ...

I'm nearly as old as this book
I'm nearly as old as this book. Regardless, I found it very helpful and inspiring. My generation is slightly misaligned since we have so much information flowing at us on a daily basis. The seven habits have helped me solidify a foundation to keep my daily life in check. This was important as I read it prior to taking a leadership position where I sometimes faced adversity. I got the abridged ...

Coward at the Bridge (Dick Coward 2)
James Delingpole
Simon & Schuster Ltd, 2009
Trapped in a cupboard with a nubile blonde nymphomaniac; crossing the Waal under a hail of fire with the US paratroops of 82nd airborne; rattling in a jeep through the Dutch countryside with the men of 1st Airborne Recce Squadron; trying to take out a self-propelled gun with a ruddy useless PIAT. It's all in a day's work for Lt Dick Coward and Sgt Tom Price on their second published adventure. After the horrors of D-Day, they find themselves ...

New Parent must read.
Overall a sound book with lots of useful information. The only downside is there is no competition for it which means the book may not have any significant changes to future additions.
Silent Scream
Lynda La Plante

As DCI James Langton leads his team in an extensive enquiry, they discover ...

Worth reading
Nutshell review - a good book extending and further discussing a primary habit explained in 7 habits of Highly Effective People by the same author. Worth reading but perhaps a bit long winded.

If it's good enough for the De' Medicis......
I received this book as a gift when the Frances Mayes Tuscany book (ugh!)was all rage. I flipped through it thinking "what a dumb format for a cookbook" then slipped it into a bookshelf where it lay buried for a couple of years. I did however remember seeing in it (& liking the idea of) a recipe for "Elder Flower Flat Bread" (p.34) and I had an elderberry shrub in bloom so I dragged the book ...

Memorial Day is outstanding
I've recently purchased all of Vince Flynn's previous books in paperback so I could read everything he has written in sequence. Memorial Day is another outstandingly written book in the Mitch Rapp series.

Vince Flynn

Vince Flynn is the Man!!
I loved this book! Flynn seems to get better with each of his novels. Some do not like all the detail he provides to set up the action, but I thrive on it. Flynn is a master at almost putting you into the plot, watching the action take place just a short step away. As a teacher of Political Science and International Relations for 34 years, I really appreciate the amount of research and ...
Dear Me: A Letter to My Sixteen-Year-Old Self

Joseph Galliano
Simon & Schuster Ltd, 2009
A Must Read!
I bought this book at the Waterstone book store in London - it caught my eye at the checkout. For anyone who has ever been young and uncertain; anyone who has been young and convinced of the certainty of their feelings and actions, this book is for you. It reminds you of hopes and dreams long forgotten, of desires long past and of all that one has achieved (or not) in one's life. Makes you think ...
