A 1 year Dressmaking Course in a book!
This book describes everything about dressmaking. All the little details about how to make clothes that fit. How to measure a body and find the right size pattern to purchase. How to modify a pattern to fit your particular measurements. (pretty important for me since I do not look like Barbie!). Helpful chapter on how to determine which style and fabric is most flattering for your shape. I ...

Yes, it lives up to its Ravelry hype
I've been hearing about this book for some time on Ravelry, an online forum for knitters, crocheters, and other fiber fans. When someone asks "What general knitting book should I buy?" 8 times out of 10, the reply includes Vogue Knitting. I've been knitting for over 20 yrs. and don't feel the need for a how-to book, but I finally succumbed to the "peer" pressure. First, let me say that this is ...

You Can't Lose With This Book!
What knitter doesn't WANT/NEED a stashbuster? First and foremost, that's exactly what this book is. Not every book can receive such an honor. A knitting book can only be regarded as a Stashbuster if it contains patterns, designs, that one actually desires and is planning to knit. There isn't a pattern in this book that I don't want to NOT knit and that goes right down to the Puppy Mittens. ...

Absolutely Nouveau
I own this book and I think it has the most innovative kind of embellishments and decorative borders one could knit to a piece to make it spectacular. I find it fascinating. The cords and appliques chapters are just awesome. I have read other reviews complaining about the flaws and could-not-get-through-instructions, actually, I am knitting the front cover American Beauty Rose capelet. So far ...

Got my attention!
With all the patterns I want to knit on my wish list, I had made a decision to stick with the one or two color knitting I've always done. That was....until I came across this book in the bookstore! While I'm always inspired by nicely designed things, this is the first book that even tempted me to try knitting with more than one or two colors at a time! Everything is very clear and well ...

Do you have Hattitude?
I received the book Hattitude by Cathy Carron from Tara at SoHo Publishing/Sixth and Spring for review! Hats can be boring, or hats can be fun....which would you prefer to wear? In Hattitude there is a hat for every mood! There are so many different hats in this book that I'm not sure which hat to knit first. Each pattern is easy to read and understand, nothing too complicated and each pattern ...

Do you need another Vogue Stitchionary?
Vogue say: "The newest volume in Vogue Knitting's must have series" Is it a must have? That's for you to decide. Perhaps this review will help you to make a decision. The introduction makes clear the distinction between lace knitting and knitting lace. It's all about whether you yarn over on one side of the work or both. When you yarn over on both sides of the work, you are knitting lace. ...

A lot of patterns for the price -- in-depth descriptions of something like 450 different patterns! Great addition to my knitting book library, I was not disappointed. The book also includes true-to-size, high resolution photographs of each pattern done up in a swatch; if you already own the Vogue Book of Knitting, then you already know the Vogue books do really well with their photos. These ...

Great Book, Great Series
I love Vogue Knitting's "On the Go" series. Though a few of the patterns are duds, for the most part the styles and colors simply pop on the pages. There are a wide range of skill levels and some really beautiful designs that I can't wait to get my hands on. I really love this series because I can see how I will move up in difficulty as I learn more.

Fabulous
First off, I don't understand the other reviewers dissapointment in the lack of patterns. This is a STITCH DICTIONARY, not a pattern book! No one book could possible contain every set of crochet stitches, although I believe this one does a fair job of representing the spectrum. Color photographs are large and crystal clear, instructions are easy to follow. Overall, a great addition to your ...
