A work of lasting skill, value, and impact, truly a classic
It is astonishing to read literature this good, such that within the first few pages you know that no matter what the author does to the characters or how he concludes the story, and whether it suits my tastes in any specific direction, you realize that here is a work of lasting skill, value, and impact, truly a classic. Now I came to this book with perhaps reduced expectations, not great ...
On a Clear Day You Can See General Motors: John Z. DeLorean's Look Inside the Automotive Giant

Dinosaur organizations: past and present. Look carefully inside.
This is a favorite book because of the clear description of the life and emotions of an innovative project leader working inside one of the world's most bureaucratic organizations. Once seen as the ultimate in career security and lifelong comfort, General Motors became a constraining and anti-innovative weight around the passions of Mr. DeLorean. And, while once he was seen as a bright and ...

William L. Shirer

One of the most readable histories I've read
At well over a thousand pages, one might wonder how "readable" such a history could be, but Shirer's work is excellent. I won't repeat much of the acclaim already found here. One stumbling block is that in a very few places the terminology is outdated, and most certainly not politically correct. For example, the homosexual leadership of the SA are described as "perverted" and "deviant", and ...

AWESOME BOOK
Michael Johnson is not only an athlete, but an intellectual as well. He spells out how it took him six years to improve his 200 meter race 1.7 seconds. What is 1.7 seconds? It is the difference from being a good athlete and a world class athlete. This book teaches everyone how to improve themselves in order to achieve their dreams, whether it is in athletics, business, or education. I read ...

very intense
The outdated writing style takes a little getting used to, but once you do, it's good. It's incredible to me how the author, with her unusually limited experience of the outside world, who probably never had a boyfriend or lover in her life and lived a secluded life in a remote part of Yorkshire with her sisters and died a virgin, could have created such an incredibly realistic and well-drawn ...

A Wonderful Read
This a great book to read because I remember reading it as a kid. I liked the book so much that I read it twice. There was also a dog that I used to have that kind of looked like the main character, but he was a huskey. Also, I would recommend this book to anyone.

Loved it
I loved having all of my favorite Jane Austen books in one hard cover book! I loved that the pages were slightly yellow to help avoid the strain on my eyes!

As Wonderful a Tale as has Ever Been Told
I couldn't put it down, man. I checked this book out at the local library and read through the opening 130 pages in one sitting until I was falling asleep at three in the morning. Lewis Carroll's classic tale of adventure and fantasy "Alice in Wonderland" is one of the best books I've ever read. The story is about a little girl, Alice, who falls into a very deep rabbit hole, seemingly straight to ...

Why not go to the Source?
Some of the buzz among today's cooking enthusiasts concerns classic recipes or modern departures from them. Arguments arise among cooks over what are "mother" sauces in France; people point to the latest coffee-table cookbook for its "classic" recipes. But if you're interested in anything like that, why not go to the source, Escoffier? Recipes in the "Gee See" (or "Zhay Say," depending on ...

Mark Twain

Eli Sashihara writes:
Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a timeless classic that lives up to its prestigious name. It takes place in an array of locations along the Mississippi river around the time of 1835-45. The story is about Tom, a free-spirited boy, and his numerous adventures with a run-away slave named Jim. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn proceeds Mark Twain's original novel, ...

Disobeying, it's Not a Good Thing to do
This children's book by Joy Berry is short, to the point and has excellent comic book type illustrations that will catch any toddler's eye. The topic here is whining and why it's a bad thing to do. In this story you and your toddler will read about Annie and her stuffed rabbit, who can think, but not talk. Annie and her Bunny start learning right from the get go that disobeying is not a good ...

Dirt Poor and Filthy Rich
This is the best book I've read so far by Eileen Goudge. This is one of those books that deserve more than five stars. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I will read it again someday. I consider this book a General Fiction. Rachel and Rose are born on the same day in New York City. Rachel is filthy rich. Her father, who is a banker, and mother raise her in luxury in a rich section of ...

Excellent visual reference
Unfortunately, this book is now out of print, but if you can find a second-hand copy somewhere, grab it. "What's What" covers pretty much the same ground as DK Publishing's "Ultimate Visual Dictionary". If you own both (and I do) you'll find that they compliment each other quite nicely. "What's What" covers areas that the other book doesn't (courtrooms and prison yards, for example, are ...

Very difficult to find a book about schemas
I was recommended to buy this book as it deals with specifics that you can relate to. I'm in Australia and it is very hard to find any book about schemas. Sometimes you can get into the whole CBT thing but it's difficult to understand. I found this book to be quite easy to read and i have learnt alot about myself from reading it. Definatlely the book to read if you are familiar with CBT ...

Sword Point - Superb military fiction based on doctrine!
From Harold Coyle's first novel "Team Yankee," we learned that he could write extraordinarily well while threading much of his work around what was doctrine, at that time, against the ever present threat of a Soviet Union that was perceived to be bent on world domination. Fortunately, history proved this "threat" to have been a misperception. With "Sword Point," Harold Coyle proved that one, ...

KEPT ME AT THE EDGE OF MY SEAT!!
What more can I say? All of the money in the world could not get me to pry my fingers off of this book. In Collins' sophomore release of the Santangelo saga we get reaquainted with the awe-inspiring, business savy and headstrong Lucky Santangelo, daughter of the notorious Gino "The Ram" Santagelo -- former mob boss. Not one iota of what Collins' writes in this book comes off as being ...

What A Ride !!!
Almost done with the book, but it is the most interesting book by Stephen King I have read. Not the scariest though. That would go to Salem's Lot, which I also liked a lot (5 stars). I really like the way King creates psychotic characters, and develops them in Needful Things, and then puts them in situations that make them go off. hahaha

I could not put this book down!
I bought this book about 10 years ago, and I did not read it till last year, i could not put this book down, This book is so relevant to a woman's heart, to the human being's gemotions, What I love about Jane Is that she always kept fighting through all her trials and never let hate poison her heart, always made the best of everything.
