Getting Lucky is a 5 star read!
Getting Lucky is for all of us who share our hearts and lives with our animals. This book will make you laugh and cry, sometimes both at once. Beautifully written, with humor, love and sadness that just pulls at your heart. You won't be able to put it down. Angel's Gate is truly a place where "Angels" go to be loved and let go. I dedicate this review to my own angel, Jakob M. who passed on only 1 ...

My atlas for the kitchen
Alton Brown is a genius. His forward in the book explains that a recipe is analogous to a set of directions to a house, but what if there's a detour? Or what if you want to go somewhere else after? You're stuck. But now, what if you knew the whole map of the area, not just rote directions. That's what Alton teaches. He organizes by chapters centered on methods of cooking, not types of food. He ...

Jan Brett Night Before Christmas
I LOVE Jan Brett's books! I buy them anytime I see them whether on sale, old ones on Amazon as remainders, or new.. They make great gifts. I have a backup of many to give to children, particularly my granddaughters. The illustrations in this one are so beautiful it is really a keepsake to save as well as enjoy. Give it as a gift and you will make some child very happy and a parent happy, too.

A truely great book for Pug lovers
Pugs are a unique breed and if you like Pugs or know someone who does they will LOVE this book! It is gorgeous with many great pictures of Pugs all over New York. It doesn't have much information on the breed but that is not the point of it, its a small coffee table book with some lovely anecdotes about Pugs. I am away from home at uni so when I miss my Pug I flip through this book! I definitely ...

Rose Blanche, you are not alone
Congratulations! You have successfully located the best translation of the book "Rose Blanche" available on the market today. While the British and German translations may change significant portions of this tale around and about, the American version (all thanks to hard work of excellent translators Martha Coventry and Richard Graglia) is true to authors Gallaz and Innocenti's original plot and ...

Great Memories
I bought this book for my mom (81 years old), and it brought back amazing memories for her from her teenage years through the first 20 years of her marriage. The package of ornaments shown on page 11 is the identical one my parents had bought (which we still have - most of them, anyway!). She (and I) enjoyed it so much, I also got copies for my aunt and a family friend of the same age as my mom. ...

Have to have
This is amazing book. In simple language, it explains how to make good photos with any camera. There is no deep technical analysis (Like Ansel Adams in "The Camera", "The Negative" or John Shaw's Nature Photography Field Guide). There are no guidelines how to improve your creativity (like "Learning to See Creatively: Design, Color & Composition in Photography or Photography and the Art of Seeing" ...

adorable tale of Terry, aka Toto the dog
I, Toto is a delightfully well written book by Willard Carroll about the life of Terry, a Cairn Terrier who became famous in movies. The book is based on a scrapbook Willard Carroll found that documented the life and movie career of this well trained dog; and the book is primarily set up to look just like a book typed on an old typewriter--written, of course, by the dog itself. The book starts ...

AN INSIGHT TO FILIPINO FOOD & CULTURE
I'm an Australian Filipino, born in the Phillipines but raised in Australia. Therefore, my knowledge in Filipino food is minimal & somewhat 'westernised'. This book has helped me relearn the essences of filipino cuisine. The authors have their own restaurant Cendrillion in New York, I have been admiring there work from their website [...] since I can't visit just yet. This book includes ...

Egypt: yesterday and Today
This is a most amazing book, it has both water colours and photos of the sights of Ancient Egypt. As a reminder of a special holiday or a factual account it is the best. The size of the book makes it prominent coffee table book and easy to just pick up and dip into another wondeful page.

Pictures of John Lennon
Bob Gruen invites readers and photo aficionados into his chronological photo portfolio into former Beatle John Lennon's life with the book John Lennon: The New York Years. Gruen provides a combination of never before seen and seen candid and photo shoot images of Lennon during his years in New York. Gruen closely associated with John and Yoko as a neighbor and as their personal photographer, ...

Heart Patients - Give Yourself a Gift
As a heart patient and coordinator of support groups for other female heart patients, I love this book! Instead of dwelling on what we CAN'T have and what we MUST do, Debora Yost presents her 101 tips as gifts we can give to ourselves. Also, her research is sound and up-to-date, and I like the idea of incorporating one new tip into my life each week. If you have heart disease, get this book as ...

For the list-maker in all of us...
...or the journaler, or the parent, or the child, or - you can see where this is going! As a list-maker myself I found this book to be comforting, but its insights would be available to anyone. Following Karen on her path from childhood through motherhood in bits, here and there, was an amazing experience. I wasn't so sure about the book when I received it as a gift - a book of lists? are you ...

A MUST HAVE FOR MANTLE FANS!
I got this wonderful book for my father for Christmas and he loves it! It's his favorite book on Mickey Mantle. As a Yankee fan myself I also love the book-it's very touching how Danny and David Mantle talk about their Father. The photos are beautiful and all the little extras are really neat to look at. I recommend this book to Mantle and Yankee fans everywhere.

Charmed Bracelets
Having recently inherited my Mother's charm bracelet, I have a new appreciation for the "charmed" beauty of it. Each charm meant something special to her and I want to continue that legacy by adding to it for my daughter. Loved the book and reading about the history of charms. The pictures are great too.

Trip Down Memory Lane
I grew up on the Mississippi and many parts of the book took me back to a wonderful time in my life....the 1950's, before the interstate highway system. Our family vacations were spent meandering along the highways of the day, now called back roads, and discovering all that there was to be discovered and eventually getting to our destination. Feasting on Asphalt The River Run is very well ...

Nicely Done
This is a great book, written by someone with impeccable credentials ... former chief food columnist for the New York Times, and a NYC born and bred native. The author delves deeply into the history of NYC, and then works his way forwards to the present era - but he spends most of his time and energy covering the topic from the gilded age of the 1890's through the late 1980's. Between those ...

This is Great "Her"story
I was given this book when I was a freshman in architecture college. When I saw Ms Sklarek, I immediately wrote the publisher and got her addres and wrote her a letter. To my surprise she wrote back to me and her later inspired me to continue studying architecture. Now...17 years and three degrees later I came across her name again during a conversation and I decided to contact her again and ...

Absolutely Gorgeous Nude Photography
These are the most wonderful nude photographs imaginable. They are not as shocking as the Mapplethorpe photographs but they are as artistic and as sensuous as his are. Unfortunately, you have to buy your copy used. That's the way I had to buy mine. I have bought many other nude photography books new but, except for Mapplethorpe's work, none of them are as good as this book. I spent a small ...
