Seven Events That Made America America: And Proved That the Founding Fathers Were Right All Along

Excellent Book So Needed Today
We must be reminded of how this country of freedom came about and what the essential foundation is for truly successful freedom. This book does this very well, displaying for us what must be done if we have any hope of maintaining that freedom. Delivery was also impressive: the book arrived well-packaged and earlier than promised.
American Conspiracies: Lies, Lies, and More Dirty Lies That the Government Tells Us

Jesse Ventura

Governor Ventura is right on: " I don't get intimidated, I get angry."
Jesse starts out by telling us his first days as Minnesota's first Independent governor and how he was requested to meet with and answer some questions by those wonderful folks with the CIA down in the lower area of the Minnesota Capitol Building. He is obviously a conspiracy nut (and I don't mean that in a derogatory way) who takes his research seriously and is meticulous. He has said "When I ...
Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time

Inspiring!
Such an inspiring story. Being an Afghan and seeing the selflessness Mr. Mortenson displays gives me hope that the rest of mankind can be as open minded as seeing the middle east as full of PEOPLE (as opposed to terrorists). The message of the book was very beautiful and I would highly recommend it for anybody looking for a "feel-good" story.

Little Bee
Exceptional character study. Creates thought and wonder at the author's ability to craft such a story.

Clay Shirky
Tantor Media, 2010
Recommended as THE book to understand the fundamentals of social media collaboration
Clay Shirky captured the ethos of social media with his book "Here comes everybody." He follows that book up with one that concentrates on the fundamentals of turning our cognitive surplus into value. Cognitive Surplus provides a compelling and clear description of the fundamentals of social media and collaboration as well providing principles that are guiding developments and innovation in ...
Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century

Thomas E. Woods
Tantor Media, 2010
The best new book I have read this year.
"No legislative act, therefore, contrary to the constitution, can be valid." - Alexander Hamilton. Tom Woods continues his streak of excellent writing in Nullification. Like almost all of the author's books, Nullification presents a much misunderstand argument at the heart of a very controversial issue. True to his usual form, Tom Woods presents the truth in a clear, understandable and easy ...

John Waters

Loads of Fun on Audio
Waters is a fantastic narrator and his new book is absolutely hilarious (but also very touching at points). I've honestly been forcing anybody who rides in my car this week to listen to the section about Lady Zorro and I'll start forcing everybody to listen to the section on Esther Martin next week. Honestly, despite other reviews that talk about his trashy side, I'm amazed how sweet and kind ...

Awesome
This book made me laugh out loud a lot. I probably talk about it more than people care to hear but Chelsea Handler is great.

Spencer Wells

Interesting, but not exactly what I was expecting
I have to hand it to Spencer Wells. He's a master at explaining scientific data and making a subject that might seem dry and academic come alive. In Pandora's Seed: The Unforeseen Cost of Civilization he takes on the topic of early man's transition from hunter-gatherer to an argicultural basis 10,000 years ago during the Neolithic revolution. Using his background in population genetics, Wells ...

GRUNT to GRUNT.....
At first, after learning that the author was a sportswriter before joining the Marines, I began noticing a large amount of fancy words , quotes and such when he was describing certain events and scenes. Old Marines such as I had a hard time figuring out what alot of those fancy words meant and I still never found out what he was saying in a few of those sentences. This had me wondering if I ...

A bold proposal to take America back from the Wall street oligarchs
This is the best book I have read on the recent financial crisis of 2008. The authors present a historical study of how and why it happened and show why it will happen again if the US govt does not go through with breaking up financial institutions which are 'too big to fail'. Both the Bush and Obama administrations have allowed the big banks to remain BIG thereby allowing them to bring the world ...

Setting the Record Straight
In a review titled "Cheapskate," David Rogers gives this book one star because he says it has "absolutely no photos to accompany the text." In fact, "Colossus" has 34 photos and other graphics, presented in a 16-page illustrations section that appears on glossy stock between pages 306 and 307. Rogers claims the book is printed on "cheap newsprint." No, newsprint is what newspapers are printed ...

Jack London Classic
Hadn't read Call of the Wild since my sons were in grade school and we read it together. The brutality Buck experiences is pretty graphic and I'd forgotten it, but I'd still highly recommend it...it's very well written. Classic story...courage, tenacity, loyalty all wrapped into an excellent wildlife adventure...culminating with the ultimate "call of the wild." We listened to it on a road trip ...

Very interesting reading. Great to know the actual history of one of our founders and his Christain stand in our government. All elected officials need to read some history and learn where we came from.

Practical guide to improving at anything
This is one of the best nonfictions I've read in a while. It patiently and logical unfolds an explanation for why some "geniuses" don't contain some mystical power others don't have, but in fact put in hours and hours (most of the years of their life, in fact) practicing focused and effective drills in their skillset. Its true goal is to demystify the idea of 'talent' and it instead give you ...

He does all the voices
This is a really fun audio reading of Huckleberry Finn. Dufris does all the voices excellently -- you wouldn't know it is only one person reading. You get the flavor of the book and understand the satire and jokes because of the dramatic reading. Tracks are about 3 minutes each -- I had to go through & write down which tracks belong to which chapter, but at least chapters begin at the ...
