The ABX Guide: Diagnosis & Treatment of Infectious Diseases (Abx Guide)

One of the Best Pocket Guides, Everyone should have it
This guide is small enough to fit in a lab coat and easily carry in a brief case, yet is 655 pages and has a interesting simplified pull out chart on Pathogens=antibiotic Rx. While called the ABX Guide, this is much more than another drug guide which we do not need. It is actually a short Infectious Disease Handbook with Dx, Rx and selected readings. The authors all appear to be highly ...
Advice for the Patient: Drug Information in Lay Language (Usp Di Vol II: Advice for the Patient)

Highly recommended
If your looking for a good reference book for information on prescription and non-prescription drugs, this is one of the best choices for patients and consumers. It is big and heavy and covers most of the drugs your likely to encounter. Some non-prescriptions drugs (such as dandruff shampoo) are excluded from the print edition due to size considertions. Its an expensive book to buy new through ...

Finally a reference guide that weighs less than 20 pounds!
Diagnosed with a number of psychological disorders at a very young age, I have been prescribed medication after medication. I soon found myself wanting to know what it was that I was taking. I trusted my doctors be feared they may have overlooked possible side effects or interactions. I have used the full sized PDR along with the Genarics tomb as well, books both very heavy and overly complex for ...

Brim Full of Information
Tired of getting your supplement information from the vitamin shop clerk? This is state of the art stuff. Finally here is a book that both the lay person and the physician can safely turn to. The author has no axe to grind. He neither overstates nor understates, but is carefully objective in his presentation and allows the evidence to speak for itself. Dr. Hendler brings to his subject an open ...

excellent but not without a few drawbacks
This is without a doubt the last word in a book of drug information. The problem with the exhaustive list of side effects is that they are based on a list of everything that happened during studies... and while almost all are related to the drug being tested...some of the rare side effects *may* just have occured during the trials and may or may not be related to the drug. The book is ...

Empowering
As someone who has been through brain stem surgery, I found this book to be informational and straightforward. This is so important when you need to get good information fast at a time when you are emotional and downright scared. I think having a list of questions for my surgeon that was recommended by a surgeon would have empowered me to ask questions I was too embarrassed to ask on my own.

Only Drug Reference that has 100% of Drug Info
A PDR is the only sourse that has 100% of the information on the dugs. Some doctors feel the PDR is writen by attorneys, because it has every side effect a drug has ever given a patient. Or that the PDR has every scrap of information on any drug listed in it............................. I have 38,000 hours of Emergency Medical System.................................... When persons make comments ...

A MUST HAVE For Anyone Serious In Understanding Herbal Medicine
In my interest in learning and understanding the medicinal qualities and uses of herbs for my own personal use (and without any formal medical training), I've purchased many books on 'herbal medicine' and 'homeopathic medicines/remedies'. While there are some good books out there, there is NOTHING I've come across that is as complete as this reference book (4th Edition, 2007). Some of the ...

Does this mean they LISTENED TO US???
The PDR has always been a uniquely important source. However, in various respects the format has been problematic, as some of us have noted. I assume we were not alone -- we were probably just a few voices among many. And happily, it looks like perhaps the publisher and its fellow parties have listened. In past reviews I noted the difficulty in finding certain sections -- for example, ...
