Y: The Last Man, Volume 9: Motherland13 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan

Vertigo, 2007

The heat turns way up.
Although I like the previous issue better than this one, Motherland has it's own perks as the story starts to wrap up for our protagonists. Things get a little strange when one of the characters becomes fatally injured, and Yorick almost REALLY dies this time though not of his own occord. I still have no complaints about this series, there's a damn good fight scene, a couple questions finally get ...

Fables Vol. 10: The Good Prince15 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2008

Definitely one of the best volumes
This volume pretty much blew my mind away. Flycatcher had usually been such a insignificant character, and now... wow. The whole story was incredible, and I am eager to see what Volume 11 will bring.

The Ultimate Comic Book of the Century
I heard of this comic book on a TV show. Fisrt I just bought the first book to test the water. Well, I had to go buy the rest of the collection on the same day!!!

Y: The Last Man Vol. 2: Cycles21 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan, Pia Guerra, ...

Vertigo, 2003

The plot thickens and the fun continues
The first book in Brian K. Vaughan's Y: THE LAST MAN set up the premise: all the males in the world of every species have died except for loser named Yorick Brown and his pet monkey Ampersand. In the chaos that follows American society is oppressed by totalitarian Amazons, who are marked ideologically by an intense detestation of all things male (in later books they will even try to tear down ...

V for Vendetta213 reviews
Alan Moore, David Lloyd

Vertigo, 2005

Excellent and chilling
Yet another perfectly crafted authoritarian horror story, reminiscent of Brave New World or 1984. Plotting, pacing, artwork, all top notch. A must read for everyone.

Y: The Last Man, Vol. 10: Whys and Wherefores20 reviews
Brian Vaughan

Vertigo, 2008

Good Ending to Series.
A good ending to a great series. Parts were a little disjointed though. That's why I only give it a 4/5.

Y: The Last Man Vol. 7: Paper Dolls11 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan

Vertigo, 2006

Great addition to the series
Paper Dolls had so many twists to it that I almost couldn't keep up. This series just gets you hooked and never fails to entertain. If you're looking for an example of why Y The Last Man is so highly regarded, check out volume 4 and this volume.

Great Storytelling!!!
Blood and Rain Blood for the Masses From a review originally published in SavageNight E-zine The Sandman: The Doll's House, Volume 2 Written by Neil Gaiman Various illustrators. Review by B.L.Morgan This book took us further into the mythos of who The Sandman is and how at different times he's affected history. A few of the stories do not directly feature The Sandman but ...

The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 317 reviews
Neil Gaiman

Vertigo, 2008

Two Words........
Chibi Endless!! I love how the first two appeared, and the bit in the gallery is perfect! And yes, the rest is up to standard- ie Gaiman's amazing standard! Beautiful art, but the story lines! just wow. The characters have a reality to them. Delirium, in particular, reminds me of someone I know. The stories unfold so naturally. I look forward to vol 4.

The Sandman Vol. 4: Season of Mists51 reviews
Neil Gaiman, Kelley Jones, ...

Vertigo, 1994

THIS IS THE REAL DEAL
This is my favorite comic book story. I was already a Gaiman fan, having read "Good Omens". But the intense intelligence and respect for the form of mythology in particular and story-telling in general, not to mention one of the all time great jumping off points (Lucifer's abdication of Hell), create a story that is breathtaking in it's scope and imagination. AMAZING! And I haven't even ...

Y: The Last Man, Volume 6: Girl on Girl11 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan

Vertigo, 2005

Good, but perhaps weakest book in series
This trade paperback collects issues #32-36 of the excellent DC Comics series. All but the last feature guest artists instead of co-creator Pia Guerra. Though the series is still enjoyable, I'd echo some other reviewers' statements about this seeming like filler material. Agent 355, Dr. Mann and stowaway Yorick hitch a ride across the Pacific on a commercial ship 'The Whale' in pursuit of ...

Y: The Last Man Vol. 3: One Small Step17 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan, Brian V. Vaughan, ...

Vertigo, 2004

If anything, an improvement on the first two books
As I write this, Brian K. Vaughan has finished work on the last issue of his truly massive Y: THE LAST MAN series. In terms of sustained narrative, it will certainly go down as one of the longest, most epic stories in the entire world of comics and graphic novels. The first two books in the series were good, very good, but this one might even be better. There are some wonderful new twists ...

Y: The Last Man Vol. 8: Kimono Dragons10 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan

Vertigo, 2006

Y: The Last Man is Rad
I'm not sure that I could tell you what Y's core values are, but I feel like they stray from them a bit as the series progresses (parhaps redefined). Moot point though, this is well worth a read. Get them all. I made a decision to own them after I read a friend's first issue....

Y: The Last Man, Volume 5: Ring of Truth13 reviews
Brian K. Vaughan

Vertigo, 2005

best in the series
This is the best book in the series. I really started to like Yorick in this book. And the story begins moving forward after being drifting in the Midwest for a long time. It is well worth the read if you get the opportunity.

The Sandman Vol. 5: A Game of You37 reviews
Neil Gaiman, Bryan Talbot, ...

Vertigo, 1993

I think I saw Martin Tenbones on the streets yesterday...
Like a huge boulder that cannot be stopped, Gaiman continues to plow through the journeys of the characters we first were introduced to in the spellbinding introduction entitled "Preludes and Nocturnes" with his fifth collection aptly titled "A Game of You". Like no other artist that I have seen in the past, Gaiman impresses yet again by taking a smaller character from his "Doll House" ...

The Absolute Sandman, Vol. 219 reviews
Neil Gaiman

Vertigo, 2007

Amazing...
The book is over sized with with a removable box dust cover. The binding is gorgeous and cryptic. Truly inspired by Gaimans work. The pages are thick and colorful... filled with beautiful art and Gaimans amazing stories of his Endless characters.

Preacher Vol. 1: Gone to Texas98 reviews
Garth Ennis

Vertigo, 1996

Ennis & Dillon at their best (still!)
Sometimes you reread titles and are disappointed. Other times, they've not faded at all. As much as I enjoy all..er... most of Ennis and Dillon's collaborations, they've never topped Preacher. Any single volume of Preacher makes for a self-contained read, but this, the first in the series, is still the best. Jesse and his band of merry pals are all introduced and the overall plot ('find God') ...
