Step-Up to Medicine (Step-Up Series)16 reviews
Steven S Agabegi, Elizabeth D Agabegi

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008

I love this book
This book is great for 3rd and 4th year rotations! Covers the important info about the most important diseases, without getting bogged down with too much extraneous info. There is also a great section that deals with how to work up common complaints such as chest pain or change in mental status, that is REALLY helpful on rotations. Also a great section on how to interpret EKG, xray and some ...

BRS Pathology (Board Review Series)18 reviews
Arthur S Schneider, Philip A Szanto

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005

High yield pathology review
This is an excellent review for both a pathology course and for studying for USMLE Step I. Its main weakness is that it doesn't include very many images, so you need an atlas of some sort as a companion. I used an image bank my school provided and this book alone to study for pathology on Step I, and I did extremely well.

Clinically Oriented Anatomy (5th Edition)62 reviews
Keith L Moore, Arthur F Dalley

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005

Excellent Text!
This is an excellent text no matter what health profession you are in. I very rarely read the text. The pictures accompanied with the tables are basically what I used. You would see the picture and have a table of origin, insertion, action and nerve. If you really want to go into depth then you can read it. Moore did a great look at and then I would recommend a real life atlas such as Rohen to ...

The ICU Book, 3rd edition (ICU Book, 3E (Marino/ Lippincott))32 reviews

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Great book!
I own the 2nd ed. and am looking forward to owning the 3rd. This was recommended to me when I first started Critical Care (CC) Nursing 6 years ago and I have yet to find anything even close. I love the fact a physician wrote it. The information is much more clear than any CC nursing text/book I have bought. ... and I have tons. It follows more closely to the medical model, not a nursing ...

Pocket Medicine: The Massachusetts General Hospital Handbook of Internal Medicine (Pocket Notebook Series)52 reviews
Marc S Sabatine

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2007

Must have for medical students
Although the expectations for medical students are not that of residents and interns, this book is very helpful. Evidence-based medicine is the term heard over and over on the wards and this pocket book will help with that. When presenting a patient, you may be asked which study showed the effectiveness of which treatment. This book has it. It is updated with references as recent as 2007 ...

Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews: Biochemistry (Lippincott's Illustrated Reviews Series)69 reviews
Pamela C Champe, Richard A Harvey, ...

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2007

Illuminating
I am a first year mature age medical student with a bit of biochemistry under my belt and with several other degrees completed in the past. I have read through dozens of weighty tomes in my lifetime and this is one of the best I have come across in any discipline. This book goes into more detail than is perhaps required in first year medicine. However, I found it worth trying to read through ...

Boards and Wards: A Review for USMLE Steps 2&3: A Practical Guide (Boards and Wards Series)14 reviews
Carlos Ayala, Brad Spellberg

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Outstanding review guide + it's FUNCTIONAL on rotations!
Buy it, take it to your local office supply store, get it wire bound with plastic covers for about $3-$4 and it'll last through your clinical years and internship. The only review book that can actually be carried in your white coat making it TRULY USEFUL on rotations. In fact, it's PERFECT for rotations as you can STUDY on the go whenever you have a few minutes PLUS it helps you with pimp ...

Langman's Medical Embryology30 reviews
Thomas W Sadler

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Medical Student Approved
As a busy medical student, I am very protective of my time. Langman's Medical Embryology (LME) is indeed a long, and at times difficult read, but in my humble opinion it is well worth that time and effort, as it is the only way I found to understand the field to the extent I wanted to. Whether for a general anatomy class, or for specific organ systems (especially the cardiovascular block - VSD's, ...

Johannes W Rohen, Chihiro Yokochi, ...

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

extremely useful book

Histology: A Text and Atlas: With Correlated Cell and Molecular Biology (Histology (Ross))5 reviews
Michael H Ross, Wojciech Pawlina

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

The best Histology book that I've found.
This Histology book is the most thorough and well-written text out there. If you have no background in Histology, this book can be quite intimidating because it is content-rich. I was very overwhelmed when I first started with this book for undergrad, but now that I have gotten through it and read other titles for med school, I believe that this book is the best. It teaches Histology in a way ...

Essential Clinical Anatomy (Point (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins))13 reviews
Keith L Moore, Anne MR Agur

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

What you need for anatomy
This is what you should read for medical school anatomy. I started our reading big Moore and discovered that it is quite wordy and slow to read. Overall not an efficient way to learn or use precious study time. This condensed version contains most of the information in big Moore. It has illustrations, tables, and clinical correlations. I switched my study method to reading this book (baby ...
