War's a funny thing ...
This is Waugh's satirical look at England at the beginning of WW II, with two characters in particular receiving his sharp and witty arrows of reproach: Basil Seal, a military big-shot wannabe who ends up relocating London slum children when the army rejects him; and Ambrose Silk, an aesthete, who gets a job with the religious division of the Ministry of Information representing Atheists. Put Me in the Zoo
My grandchildren(ages 3 & 4) were fascinated with this library book. They wanted it read over and over, in fact, they loved it so much that I decided to buy it. It is an excellent reader for beginners and they get great fun out of attempting to read the words.

Feed Me
I am sitting at the computer at a safe time to read Bob Schwartz's book, Never Put Ketchup on a Hot Dog. If it gets too close to lunch time, I will have to turn the book over so my hot dog cravings don't start. The picture on the cover of that delicious poppy seed bun cradling the dressed dog is too enticing. Living in the Bay Area is disheartening at certain times and looking for a decent dog is ...

The Cobra vs. The Mongoose
Growing up in a family with five kids, I am very familiar with the topic of sibling rivalry- the constant squabbles, the nasty name-calling, and the occasional all-out brawl. However, the occasional fights between my siblings seem minor when compared to the non-stop warfare between the brother and sister characters in Jerry Spinelli's "Who Put That Hair in My Toothbrush?" "Who Put That Hair ...

He shows, through case ...

Fantastic book about a not-so-fantastic phenomenon
As a social worker who deals with the population portrayed in this book day in and day out, I was very interested in reading a book that I hoped would help me understand a phenomenon that has intrigued me since the day I started my job. I was very pleased when I read this book as I thought that it did address its stated purpose in a factual but still thoughtful way. I enjoyed this book because ...

Good clean humor for Southern girls (and others)!
Oh my gosh! If you're a Southern girl, you're gonna love this book! On every single page, I read something that reminds me of my Southern Mama and Grandmother, or that reminds me of something my sister and I did growing up. Quite frequently, I find myself laughing out loud, so don't read it in the middle of strangers unless you're prepared to either explain why you're laughing or just put up with ...

I didn't know Ms. Paetro was an advertising pro until I looked her up with the intention of doing a recommendation GUIDE for her fiction books. A tad uneven but ultimately satisfying
I don't want my review to necessarily put any readers off from this book. This offering is definitely in the average to above-average range of the majority of enjoyable books out there, a high three stars, but my experience in reading it was an uneven one, and having really loved the author's Drag King duology, I had high hopes, and that may have also led to my disappointment. At its best, ...
