Thomas Jefferson-Essential Letters And Quotations
Thomas Jefferson was a man of many facets. Among these were the power of words, chosen carefully from the English language. He loved and excelled in writing letters, and this book contains over 500 subjects that he chose to write about. Tho the book is small in size with over 500 pages, it gives one an insight into the enormity of this President's capacity.

Someone who gets it
I've spent two years promoting our annual 500-mile lap around New England, and I get two kinds of comments: "How could you possibly do that?" or "Sign me up NOW!" This book is for people who make the latter comment. Strickland gets why people go beyond LOVING cycling to BECOMING cyclists. The mountain biking section hooked me. I'm a long-distance tourist, and the mountain bikers who have ...

For Walt Disney fans
This is a wonderful book. Easy and enjoyable to read. The quotes bring you closer to understanding one of the true geniuses in American entertainment. The quotes are facinating, and humorous, and some are quite profound. This is a great book for any writer, or speaker to draw from, and it is historically educational. If you are a fan of Disney, or just curious about a figure in the world ...

Spark the Runner in Your Life
"The Quotable Runner: Great Moments of Wisdom, Inspiration, Wrongheadedness, and Humor" is a gift book, but for the runner, it is a fun gift. Runners aren't known for effusive Knute Rockne sorts of locker room speeches, or Yogi Berra witticisms, but, as seen here, they should be. Quoted here are great runners and writers about running, from Shakespeare to high school mile record holder, ...

The Quotable Atheist
Ammunition for Nonbelievers is a great discription for this collection of short quotes and quips. If you've ever been tired of or have gotten a bit "out of sorts" with bible thumpers, door knockers, phone ringers, and pseuedo soul savers, who have that "in your face" attitude, here's your book of "comebacks". Be forewarned that you are sure to be labeled as a hell-bound sacrilege by any religious ...

Get Motivated to Win!
This book is filled with really great quotes that will empower you to succeed. There are many quotes from this book that are real classics. Here are two of my favorites: "Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability." --John Wooden "It's what you learn after you know it all that counts." --John Wooden If you love sports and like ...

On the whole excellent
I was overjoyed when the first edition came out. Here in one small volume were many of Einstein's most famous lines. I was even happier when new expanded editions came out. I have used the book almost as an index to my collection of books about Einstein (and I have a dozen of them). But I noticed one problem in the editing. In the first edition, in the chapter "On Religion, God, and ...

Thought-Provoking Quotes for Every Occasion
This modest-sized book contains thousands of quotes. It is well indexed. The quotes vary from subjects as diverse as cats, religion, self-esteem, marriage, happiness, children, humor, the American Dream, finance, injustice, personal problems, politics, expert opinions, the natural world, and much more. Three of my favorite quotes are: "Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors" (p. 166); ...

Quotable Women, a Celebration
This is the most beautiful book I have ever seen; it combines the words of women with colorful paintings that make the words sublime. It involves both hemispheres of the brain in a holistic approach to words and images, and produces many joyful moments.

Welcome addition to American History Reference material
Of course, it would be silly for me to write a review of the quotes themselves in this book, but the sheer volume of material warrants this book 5 stars. Moreover, the quotes are sub-indexed by category (education, greed...etc.) which allows for easier access to speech writing and quoting. A welcome addition to my collection of early American History references.
The Quotable Dog Lover

?All knowledge, the totality of all questions and answers, is contained in the dog.? So wrote Franz Kafka, and those who cherish man?s best friend will find plenty to enjoy in this appealing, delightfully illustrated compilation. The quotations extend from Shakespeare and Sartre to Groucho Marx and Woodrow Wilson, and range from adoring to amusing.

I read it cover to cover in one afternoon
I think Einstein is the most fabulous man of all times, and his personality always continues to baffle me. He is anything but predictable, and if you think he is the very dry, overly technical, personification of a science nerd and crazy genius, you are WRONG. Get to know Al personally with this book; I promise you won't have any regrets. I admire Einstein wholeheartedly, and I have been ...

Very enjoyable
A very quick read and I read this book as fast as I could. It was hard to put down, as it was very enjoyable. There are quotes that I will use over and over again in my life, writing, and public speaking. You'll find yourself saying, Wow!, this is his best quote, only to be surprised again on the next page. It showed the good and bad of Einstein (this was not a happily married man), and ...

Quotable Cryptograms - A Second Opinion
I disagree with the previous review of "Quotable Cryptograms". I might not have the depth of knowledge as others in Cryptograpy, but I really enjoyed working and learning about them. When I purchased the book, I was not looking for a treatise on the subject, just an enjoyable puzzle book, which this really is. Therefore, my recommendations is for those individuals who have had an interest in ...

Great book that is easy to read and lets you relive the episodes
As many of the previous reviewers said this book has many quotes from the original series, to The Next Generation, to Deep Space Nine, to Voyager, and all the movies. It is a light book that you can pick up and put down or as another reviewer said read it lazily under a tree. Also as other reviewers stated it has great cross-referencing in the back by speaker or theme. The quotes are all placed ...
