the perfect children's book?
NOT A BOX by Antoinette Portis Parents often joke about how little kids think that "the box is more fun than the toy"... and this book explains why kids are right! Where others see a box, the imaginative little bunny sees a fire engine, a house or a boat! That's not a box, it is whatever you want it to be. Less is certainly more here, and I think most parents can appreciate the message ...

A CLASSIC THAT SHOULD NOT BE LOST
The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes by DuBose Heyward and illustrated by Marjorie Hack has been around for yours. In fact, it made its first appearance in 1939 and has gone through several printings since that time. The latest one I could find was 1974, which is far too long ago, as this is one that we had better not loose. Briefly, this is the story of a little brown country bunny ...

Jan Brett Night Before Christmas
I LOVE Jan Brett's books! I buy them anytime I see them whether on sale, old ones on Amazon as remainders, or new.. They make great gifts. I have a backup of many to give to children, particularly my granddaughters. The illustrations in this one are so beautiful it is really a keepsake to save as well as enjoy. Give it as a gift and you will make some child very happy and a parent happy, too.

Wonderful book !!
This book is beautifully presented and a true gem for any library or child's collection. All of the stories are presented in the order in which they were written and published. All of the original illustrations are there as well. I highly recommend this book....it is reasonably priced and complete.

Superb--Great First Book
The storyline is very simple, a good complement to illustrations that are colorful and detailed enough to hold the attention of very young children. We got this when my first son was about 9 mos. old; within the next year he had it memorized and could "read" it to us. My son is now 22 (YEARS old) and my husband and I can still recite the book . . .

Fast Comfort!
My daughter (3) and I love this book. We turn to it whenever our spirits need a lift. In fact, the other day she told her father that HE needed a trip to the Bunny Planet after he had reprimanded her. I am purchasing a set for my daughter's preschool library so that her schoolmates will also have the chance to go to the Bunny Planet and see "the day that should have been". Get the book and ...

Make sure you get a copy for each of your children
This version of "The Night Before Christmas" is by far the best illustrated edition I have ever seen. The artwork is incredible. My children love looking at all the vibrant, detailed pictures, and I even pause while reading the story so I can look at the pictures too. It seems like I find something new in the artwork everytime we read the story. Make sure to get a copy of the book for each of ...

May Change the Way You Speak Forever
In a wave of nosthalgia, I bought this Shel Silvertein book. As a little kid I loved "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and the other works. This has to be the best, though. While obviously it is a children's book, adults love it, too. It tickles the tongue and the spirit. When I took it to the office we took turns reading from it and laughed silly. It really lightened the atmosphere. Also a ...

A must have for house rabbit owners
If you are only going to purchase one book about house rabbits this should be the one. I have purchased several and taken several out of the library and this is still the first one I pick up when I need information.

Wonderful - Just Wonderful
These books are wonderful. I started reading them to my sons as soon as they were born. My oldest is 3 and he can "read" Goodnight Moon to me. He looks forward to finding the little bunny before his mommy does in The Runaway Bunny and knows when to make the animal sounds before I turn the page in the Big Red Barn. This collection is a must for all kids. You won't regret buying them for the ...

Blake says - How one mouse saves another mouse
Wow, What an Amazing Book Hi, the book I'm reviewing is Poppy and Rye. The authors name is Avi. The location were the book mostly takes place is the brook. Another location is the beaver's lodges which you will find out were that is later in the book. Things from the story One of the very important things is when Poppy the mouse was about to make a trip to Ragweed's old house so she could ...

Song of the South
Song of the South is one of the most influential movies that I saw as a child. It shows us how to be happy in a lot of different situations. To have a positive attitude. The minority group should be very proud of this movie because the stories Uncle Remus told were positive reflections of life. This day and age we need more old stories of being happy in tough times. Please release this movie. ...

The Horror of Prison
This book excerpt gives a glimpse of prison life at Attica Corrctional Facility and the uprising of the inmates decades ago, from the perspectives of a guard, a teacher and an inmate. Through their eyes we begin to see the horror of prison life, and can only guess at the tragedy that is about to unfold. A compelling beginning to what will likely be a riveting story.

Sweet children's book
I love this book! Children are captivated by the simple familiar characters so clearly described. The story line is sweet and well written, NOT "dumbed down". There are lots of words on most pages and it takes more than a minute to read which is so helpful in developing attention span. My three year old was taken in completely! ( Not to mention my seven year old!)

Beautiful presentation for a wonderful set
This is a wonderful collection in a beautiful box. I purchased it for my daughter's first birthday because I wanted to get her something more lasting than a toy. I was given the 12 book collection as a child, and The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin was the first book I ever read by myself. I remember loving how the small books were perfectly suited to my small hands. (Thus, if you are thinking about ...

Lullaby for baby
This is the BEST book someone gave me after my son was born! The book has songs to sing to familiar toons and gives you a guide in the back. This has always worked at getting baby to sleep and now I can quote the book. I often give this at any baby shower now that I know about it.

Great find!
I stumbled across this book in a bookstore and was immediately enchanted! The pictures are so cute and the story that goes along with them is charming. Babies love to see pictures of other babies so this is sure to captivate your baby. The words are very rhythmic and one day you may find that your child has memorized all the words! If you are thinking about this book for your baby or as a ...

A great year for the Chinese
In a year of the Chinese Olympics, one couldn't ask for a better thriller than Rabbit on the Moon by Deboral and Joel Shlianj to focus on the generational differences in China. What a great read! Anyone looking for a mixture of mystery, science and Asian culture can't go wrong by picking up this "unputdownable" novel. From the first pages, one is drawn into the conflict faced by Dr. Lili Quan to ...

Guess How Much We Love Little Nutbrown?
This is the coolest book of this genre since "Hop on Pop". It has affected me and my entire life in more ways than any "review" could possibly try to achieve. If you have children, and you are one of the FEW parents that STILL read to them: PLEASE GET THIS BOOK! The world will be a better place because of it. Thank You! so much Sam and Anita!!! T.N.
