A Sweet Little Book
This is a sweet little book that I read to my daughter when she was a small child and she loved it. It's about sweet little animal families in the forest. Their words of love are reasurring to any small child and they will ask that it be read to them many, many times. I recommend this book to any mother with small children. She will love it almost as much as they do.

Particularly suitable for bedtime reading
Written and illustrated by Nancy Carol Willis, Raccoon Moon is a gentle and highly recommended children's picturebook about a mother raccoon who takes care of her young cubs. The soft color, museum quality illustrations add a heartwarming special touch to this tender tale. A postscript of fun facts about raccoons, including how the raccoon got its name and why baby raccoons can't be kept as pets, ...

A thoughtful story with the positive message that the best way to get rid of an enemy is to turn him into a friend
The fourth book in the popular "Kissing Hand" series, Chester Raccoon and the Big Bad Bully is a children's picturebook about a young raccoon who has trouble with a bullying badger. Mrs. Raccoon tells Chester an insightful story about another forest far away, where a pointy blue stone that could injure soft paws was transformed into a smooth pebble with the help of animals who live there. Chester ...

A Favorite
I enjoyed this book when I was a boy and now my children love it too. Sterling North paints a delightful picture of rural Wisconsin in 1918. This novel should be required reading in middle school literature.

An awesome book!
I started out knowing very little about Camelids but have expanded my knowledge through this book! Marty is an excellent writer and has made my thirst for knowledge even greater. I hope to have a couple of llamas within 2 years or so due to her insight! A must-read for anyone interested in llamas or alpacas.

A "Super Special" Switcheroo
The "Katie Kazoo" series is about an elementary age girl who received a granting of her wish to be someone else. In each book in this series she experiences (temporarily) a change into someone else, and during the period of change she usually creates a conflict that she has to work to resolve after she turns into Katie again. My daughters (similar in age to Katie) love these books and usually ...

perfect before-kindergarten present
Like many teachers, I used this book on my first day for my kindergarten class. I would also recommend giving this book as a present to all of the parents that have a child going to kindergarten for the first time.

I love sharing this book with young and adult friends!
Jerome Kildee is a shy stonecutter who retires to the redwood forest to be alone. He finds, instead, friendship for the first time in his life. Delightfully simple, soothing, and serene, this little book takes the reader into the heart of an unassuming man who finds joy in the animals and children he learns to know; the reader has the sublime opportunity of gaining the friendships Jerome ...

Great depiction of life in a Southern bottomland forested wetland (swamp)
My 3-year-old son was captivated by this story. I was, too, since I'm a swamp canoe guide. It's a pretty accurate depiction of that type of ecosystem. The boy liked it because all of the critters and because of the ending with the wayward raccoon....well, I'm not going to spoil it for you.

Great story & illustrations!
My 3-year old son LOVES this book. My husband reads it to him multiple times every night at bedtime, at his request. It has a great lesson & the illustrations are wonderful. Adam is certainly a character that little people can relate to.

The Searcher and Old Tree
McPhail, David. The Searcher and Old Tree. Charlesbridge. 2008. This lovely book opens with a picture of a raccoon lying asleep in a tree. On the title page, as the moon arises, raccoon stretches and climbs carefully down the tree trunk. A series of vignettes shows raccoon tiptoeing toward a garbage can, diving in, and surfacing with an opened can of food; these opening pages are without ...

A good begin-to-read book.
The Raccoon on the moon was great. It was the first book I ever read. Its kind of stupid for someone of my age to say this. I really looked up at the moon for a while, but I never saw a coon. Maybe you will.

HUNTER AND STRIPE AND THE SOCCER SHOWDOWN Scores Big in This Household!
Laura Elliott and Lynn Munsinger are an unbelievable team. Both HUNTER AND STRIPE books are illustrated boldly and beautifully, and each is superbly written. Laura Malone Elliott has no peer when it comes to creating meaningful fiction for youngsters (ages 4 to 8) and intermediate readers (teens). My understanding is that Ms. Malone was an outstanding writer for WASHINGTONIAN magazine for ...

With whimsical drawings and trash can antics
Howard Fine illustrates an engaging and zany story of a family of raccoons by Nancy Shaw. The raccon family prowl the neighborhood making a ruckus until they find just the right dinner dish. The whimsical drawings and trash can antics of the raccoons will delight a wide audience and Raccoon Tune is a very highly recommended pick.

This series brings back fond memories of when I was young
This is one of the books in the "Old Mother West Wind" series. It's all about the adventures of various woodland animals, and each book is focused on a specific woodland friend. While these books will not tickle the fancy of an older reader, the young-at-heart love them. Rereading this book brought back many memories of reading this series when I was much younger. I recommend this book to any ...

Excellent for natural history buff/environmentalist, but...
This book fulfills its promise to provide information for those among us wanting to know as much as possible about the bandit. The only shortcoming is the sparcity of photos and the absence of even a single color print. I blame not the author for his writing is impeccable. Still, this book is well worth the money!
