Ruhlman Does It Again
I've read everything Ruhlman has authored about Chefs, Kitchens, etc. and this book is definitely "up there"... a good read. I liked The Making Of A Chef as my first choice. Then, The Reach Of A Chef. I know this book was a followup to The Soul Of A Chef, and having read them in order I admit you can't fully appreciate THE REACH OF A CHEF unless you do so... but as an enjoyable read this one ...

Wonderfully crafted young adult novel
Wow. This book took me totally by surprise, in that when I began reading it, I was expecting to like it, but not think it deserving of the Newbery medal. It wasn't until I reached the climax and magnificent denouement of this book that I fully understood why this novel won that prestigious award for children's literature this year. (Aside: I think at first, I was trying to make it something it ...

Guide reference guide to Chinese military modernization, but...
But do see the facts and the opinions separately! Actually, the author does a good job of distinguishing between the two types of information. The changes in the PLA have been dramatic, modernizations, Westernizations in equipment and tactics, diversification of skills, and the building up of a (not properly socialist!) non-commissioned officer class. The political and strategic ramifications of ...

Creating community
This book resonates with me, so much of what I read on church style talks about how to improve worship, your discipleship programme, your homegroups programme, or what ever... This books does not talk about programmes, it talks about the style of leadership that is required in today's church. And it stand in stark contrast to the likes of Leonard Sweet. Rather than promoting the idea that the ...

Fantastic resource for educators
How to Reach and Teach Children with ADD/ADHD is a truly fantastic resource for educators trying to best serve children with ADHD. Rief begins the book by demystifying ADHD, writing a succinct summary of ADHD and how it manifests in academic domains. She moves on to sharing suggestions on how to best manage ADHD in different tasks like math, reading, and writing. Her suggestions are ...

DARK AND DEPRESSING BUT A VERY GOOD READ
This book deserves a better rap than the reviewers are handing out. The book itself is engrossing and interesting--it has to be the ending that is making so many readers trash this edition of Ms Slaughter's Grant County series. Yes, it was shocking and sad. While I do not agree with her decision concerning the fate of one of my favorites, her writing is so very good, I will labor on and read ...

The Halo universe, games and novels, tells one of the top 5 greatest sci-fi stories of all time, in quality and quantity. This is a must have for TRUE Halo fans, and simply a really good sci-fi novel for those that aren't. This novel and all of the others in the Halo universe are fantasically written and are very easy reads. Each novel tells a truly awesome story and blends the action, drama, ...

Essential reading for any business owner
One of the best marketing books I have ever read. This edition of the "New Rules" provides a detailed roadmap for getting found by prospects and the media in today's crowded market. This book is not just for PR and marketing folks - it should be used by managers and business owners to set a new standard for measuring the results of the PR/Marketing team. If your team is not compensated based ...

"Until We Reach Home" is a book that you will find very difficult to put aside!
The night I started this book I got to about page 81. The next night I read to about page 200,and had to turn in.This morning I couldn't stay away from it,so I finished it,but now I'm sad that it's over! This book draws you in like you are there, and there are no slow parts to the story. It is all fascinating and very touching. There are sad parts, and it's hard to read what the three young ...

I liked the variety of ideas presented in the book. I put sticky notes in many places to refer back to. It was interesting to think about differentiation using the concept of various learning modalities. I think I literally will "Reach" more students using some of these ideas.

If you dedicate yourself to this program, it will work.
This book could change your life if you let it. To a certain degree, it reminds me of those P90x or Insanity commercials. The premise being, "If you dedicate yourself to this program, it will work." The only way you can fail is by giving up. Your future is in your hands. This book is broken down into two major segments. The first half of the book is history, plan, and workouts. You first ...

One of her best!
I am a Delinsky fan, having read 17 of her books thus far. I read at bedtime, and hated when my eyes forced me to sleep. Still I read it in 3 nights and it was good all the way through. The main character, Danica, is a lonely, wealthy woman. The daughter of a senator and wife of a self-absorbed businessman. She buys a house in Kennebunkport, Maine, in the hopes of having some time alone with ...

An excellenet resource
This book is an excellent resource for general education teachers, as well as special education teachers. It is full of reproducible forms and activities. And what I like about the "activities" is that they aren't just all worksheets like many books of this type are.....many are directions for doing an activity. The philosophy the writers have regarding special education is so common sense and so ...

A strong voice who gets it!
I picked up this book with trepidation. Would this be another book that 'spoke for' those with mental illness in a paternalistic fashion? Would personal and consumer rights be brushed aside or totally ignored? Just a few pages into the book I was impressed when she identified someone as a person "who lives with bipolar disease" and then goes on to discuss the "dehumanizing ordeal" and ...
