This book is clear, solid, thorough and sensible on what faces investors today, whether you are in retirement or planning for retirement. The environment is different now -- we ...

Useful textbook
I am enrolled in the Certified Financial Planner designation program. Tools and Techniques of Employee Benefit and Retirement Planning is the textbook for the Retirement Planning module. I found this to be the most useful and practical textbook in the course. It is a book that will remain on my shelf for future reference long after I finish the designation program. The information in the ...

Great source of ideas and information!
I love the data and insight! Great tool if you want to investigate a variety of potential locations. I use it along side of my new copy of "Cities Ranked & Rated". Next to actually living there, it may be the best source of information and insight. Try their magazine, "Retire Here", for a regular infusion of inspiration and real estate ads.

Great Gift!
I gave this book to my dad and he LOVED it. It was a fun read that reminded him that he is not alone in dealing with retirement. He liked the sense of community that came with reading the book. I recommend it as a great gift for a newly retired person.

A top pick for any public library collection.
There are plenty of books on retirement on the market, but what makes The Wall Street Journal Complete Retirement Book stand out from the competition is its focus on how to plan financially and how to translate dreams into after-retirement reality. It comes from a Wall Street Journal editor whose bi-monthly guide to retirement planning pairs well with a Journal staff reporter expert on the same ...

All you ever wanted to know about retirement!
I have been looking at a lot of books recently in preparation for retirement, but none has been so comprehensive and well-written or answered so many of my questions (even questions I never thought about) as this one. I especially liked the "report cards" on retirement locations and the way the financial parts are written in such an understandable way. The book really helped me think about all ...

Successful Retirement Depends on More Than Money
It seems to me--and I admit the possibility that I may be wrong--that when I retired back around the turn of the century (1999, to be exact), retirement planning books were mostly about money. Yes, financial planning is very important, but it always seemed to me that by the time you reach retirement, you've done it or you haven't. I'd planned in my own conservative way, so I never read those ...

Best in its Class
You know exactly what's promised when you read the title of this book, and it delivers exactly that, and better than any other book on this topic that I have seen. This is a great companion book to read together with those that address finances and other aspects of preparing for this major life transition. But with relocation being part of so many Americans' retirement strategy, for financial ...

A Great Gift for Those about to Retire!
Many humorous books are funny because they make up things that cause us to laugh at others. The best humor is that which causes us to laugh at ourselves. This book falls into the latter category. For a humor book, it has an unusual format: a series of about one hundred questions and answers concerning aspects of retirement. Each q and a is a page, and there are some humorous illustrations ...

Excellent "How To" Retirement Planning Guide
This book was even better than I thought it was going to be. It had great ideas on planning for retirement and living in retirement. It showed how you can hedge against inflation even if your pension or annuity don't have COLA increases. It also had additional information avialable through the authors website, that is referenced throughout the book. Overall a great book for retirement planning.

Great read with great guidance and great referrals
This book is simply the best broad treatment of issues for the prospective retiree or already retired person that I am aware of. It covers all the bases and is presented in an easy-to-read style. It is meant to appeal to readers from a broad background and thus has content which is trivial in places (to me). But don't make reviewer George Fulmore's mistake of confusing the occasional trivial, ...

Money Well Spent
I have read over two dozen books on investing and retirement planning and this is among my favorites. First, there are few books which talk to the subject of distribution (as opposed to accumulation) strategies. Second, the authors have chosen to allow other experts to contribute to their book - 25 of them to be precise. So you are not just getting the advice of one or two people, but the ...

Great Research, Pragmatic Advice
Loved the book. Not only is it a great read, I think it's important. Lot's of well-researched insight regarding what could amount to the final 20 or 30 years of your life. Also, the solutions are extremely pragmatic. For the reader nearing retirement, I think the "8 traits" described in the book will provide a "no nonsense" road map to successful retirement and eliminate guesswork. For readers ...

Maybe a Blinding Glimpse into the Obvious, But....
Zelinski offers a number of BGO's but I've known too many folks who have moved on into retirement without giving much heed to the straightfoward advice he offers. We all may know how much money we have (or don't have)when we retire, but we may not "what" we're retiring to or think about "who" we will be when we do so. I think he may have over-simplified some of the pre-retirement mental ...

I have not been there yet (in person), but I am sure, it is as helpful for people, who want to visit (like me), for those, thinking to live there more permanently, or even for those who move there for "rest of their lives". I loved the very personal letter-writing style of the authors, and nothing ever felt gossipy. After finishing ...
