Not that helpful
This book really isn't that helpful. While it does give some good tips on new ways to string your line, it only talks about maybe 20 or so kinds of fish, and spends most of its time talking about fish on the east cost. It devotes a very sparce space to the west coast and only talks about maybe 5 or so fish from the west coast. Overall, very disappointing.

Perfect book
This book has great pictures with each fish description, making it easy to determine the fish based on sight. Gives you the perfect amount of basic information about each fish, which is all we really wanted. We love this book and we take it with us when we go fishing in Mexico so we can figure out exactly what we just caught! It's great!

The technology of lures and baits in fishing has long advanced past the worm on a string - "Fishing Soft Baits in Saltwater: A Complete Guide to Rigs, Adaption, Techniques, and More" is a complete and comprehensive guide to the newer concept of soft baits, soft plastic imitations that seem to out perform most other baits. Informative and practical
I've recently taken up saltwater fishing and have purchased a few "how to" books. This is the best by far. I found the narrative and photographs to be quite informative and easy to understand. Loads of practical information. Great rigging pictures and explanations how to use. Authour gives "fishing tips" by the fish which are very insightful & helpful. Apply some of the tips already and have a ...

Flyfishing in Saltwaters Magazine
On the subject of guidebooks, here's one that's tough to beat. Bob Newman has divided North America's Southeast Coast into a series of discrete areas, like images on a strip of film, and then tells what you need to know to fish each area. Excellent maps will help you find your way. If it's true that a picture is worth a thousand words, then these maps must be worth 10,000 words each. Newman ...

Easy read and very informative!
I have read several books, and this one was by far the easiest to read! But don't let that fool you! Despite this, it is full of great information! If you are looking into getting saltwater fish, and don't want a book which sounds like a college chemistry book, this is the one for you!

This book is great. This book is a must have for both the beginner and the expert redfish angler. It includes all of the basics for someone just starting out, as well as some good tips and secrets for folks that grew up fishing for reds on the Texas coast. A good foundation.
I have been keeping a marine tank for less than 1 year. I got tired of just using the internet for all my knowledge-base of marine aquariums; spending many hours digging through all the forums for whatever current problem/issue i had, reading so many conflicting opinions and answers from 'experts', and often ending up at least as confused as when i began. So I bought this book, read it, and ...

I have been fresh water fishing for 50+ years and am now retiring to Florida. I needed a quick start on Florida saltwater fishing and this proved to be invaluable. Very well organized to learn about all or only the species desired.
