Camino Chronicle: Walking to Santiago8 reviews
Susan Alcorn

Shepherd Canyon Books, 2006

A most enjoyable tour
Camino Chronicle: Walking To Santiago is the travel journal of a wife who walked across Northern Spain in 2001, following a venerable pilgrimage trail called the Camino de Santiago, retracing the footsteps of such famous historical figures as Charlemagne, St. Francis of Assisi, King Fernando and Queen Isabel. Historical notes and personal experiences and inspiration blend into a highly readable ...

Abril Rojo / Red April (Narrativa (Punto de Lectura))7 reviews
Santiago Roncagliolo

Punto De Lectura, 2007

Menagerie9 reviews
Lara Santiago

Siren Publishing, Inc., 2008

Good hook!
I really enjoyed this read. While I'm one of those readers who usually guesses the ending by the third page, this one surprised me -- happily. Creative idea, good characters, interesting premise. I really enjoyed this book and the relationships between the characters. When I lose track of time reading a book that means it's held my interest -- and this one did that. I would love to see a sequel ...

The Roads to Santiago: The Medieval Pilgrim Routes Through France and Spain to Santiago de Compostela1 review

Frances Lincoln, 2008

Great impressions
Although you can find books of any kind about the now so popular roads to Santiago, this one adds value by its beautiful pictures and well written impressions that go along them. Especially, if you didn't take a camera along your own camino, this book is an addition. It brought quite some memories back to my mind. And it makes me long for other roads.

The Pilgrimage Road to Santiago: The Complete Cultural Handbook13 reviews
David M. Gitlitz, Linda Kay Davidson

St. Martin's Griffin, 2000

Wonderful Book on the Cultural Background of the Camino
I did the Camino in 2003 using this book as a guide. In fact it was the only one I brought with me. It's strengths are not in the trail directions it gives. There are much better guides for that. I suggest you consult one of the Camino web sites to find out the most current and recommended version of those. the operative word is current. The Camino does change from year to year, new ...

The Wives Tales: The Miner's Wife, The Executive's Wife, The Lawman's Wife6 reviews
Lara Santiago

Siren Publishing, Inc., 2007

Three Wives are Better Than One
I zipped through these three novellas and enjoyed each one. Lots of drama, lots of sex, lots of smiles. This author has a brilliant imagination about the future, which is both dark and deliciously sexy. My favorite was the Exec's Wife, but I really liked them all. Very steamy!

Santiago Calatrava: Complete Works, Expanded Edition1 review
Alexander Tzonis

Rizzoli, 2007

Great book
I bought Santiago Calatrava's book as a gift but I was dying to see the pictures and his work. I totally recommend it.

Camino de Santiago Maps / Mapas / Cartes: St. Jean Pied de Port/Roncesvalles - Finisterre via Santiago de ...2 reviews
John Brierley

Findhorn Press, 2008

Camino de Santiago Maps
This is a very handy and useful little booklet. For my three-week Camino experience I kept the booklet readily accessible in my outside pants pocket. I repeatedly referenced the booklet throughout the day. It's narrow size and the ability to bookmark the page with the flaps on the front and back covers made it easy to retrieve and reference using only one hand. The day-at-a-glance layout, ...

A Pilgrim's Guide to the Camino de Santiago: The Way of St. James (Camino Guides)14 reviews
John Brierley

Findhorn Press, 2006

Guide to Camino de Santiage
I am planning to walk the Camino de Santiago next May and found this guide to be outstanding. It is light enough to add to my 20 pound pack. The only addition that I would like is an honest description of the refugerios so that I know ahead of time what to expect. I would highly recommend this guide.

A Place to Stand24 reviews
Jimmy Santiago Baca

Grove Press, 2002

Can't shake it
I'm giving this book five stars, not because it is a literary masterpiece, but because it is a compelling memoir that I can't forget. I felt a gamut of emotions while reading this book, but for the most part I ached for Mr. Baca and the pain and anguish he suffered. I thank him for writing about his life so eloquently.

Urban Lifestyle Press, 2007

TO HOOOOTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS ANOTHER STEAMY BOOK BY SOME VERY TALENTED AUTHORS. I REALLY ENJOYED THE STORIES BY THOMAS LONG THE PURPOSE P---Y, HEAD HUNTER BY ANNA J, BENEATH HER NOSE BY BRITTANI WILLIAMS, CATER TO YOU BY DANIELLE SANTIAGO, COMING AFTER SCHOOL BY KEISHA ERVIN, AND CROSSING THE LINE BY DYWANE BIRCH. El sueño de América3 reviews
Esmeralda Santiago

Harper Perennial, 1997

I was very impress, she is unique. Her work is addictive.
America is the typical boricua female, full of mishappenings. There is always an America in every puertorican family. She captures the image of the women's only family. There is lot of families like that, the male goes and comes as he pleases like some macho king, and expects the woman to always take him back. But America decides she is not taking him anymore. Esmeralda has a sincerity on her ...

Santiago: A Myth of the Far Future23 reviews
Mike Resnick

Tor Science Fiction, 1992

Classic SciFi
This here is a genuine SciFi classic from the 80's, and it holds up quite well some 20 years later. A very entertaining charactor and plot driven, western flavored tale. I'd think fans of Joss Whedon's "Firefly" would love this book.

Little Ghetto Girl: A Novel63 reviews
Danielle Santiago

Atria, 2007

Best book ever!
This was one of the best books that I have read in a long time. This is my first Danielle Santiago book and I must say it wont be my last. It really reminded me of Blossom by Queen Pen! Kisa Kane was a real chick and a ridah for her man. The ending was great and unexpected. I thought for sure it was the end for her after all she had been through, but she held it down. I would definitley recommend ...

Walking the Camino De Santiago10 reviews
Bethan Davies

Pili Pala Press, 2006

The best of self publishing
This travel or walking guide to the "Camino de Santiago" represents the best of small publishers or self publishing. The author and her husband researched the area by walking the Camino several-times - developing good and valid information. Bethan did a good job on a "shoe string" {probably a broken shoe string} budget. As a small business owner I am impressed with Bethan's ability to ...

Pilgrimage to the End of the World: The Road to Santiago de Compostela (Culture Trails)9 reviews
Conrad Rudolph

University Of Chicago Press, 2004

A rationalist walks the Camino.
As I write this review, I'm wearing the boots I plan to use on my own Camino pilgrimage next week. In addition to breaking them in, I've been preparing my body, mind, and heart for the long walk to Santiago. Reading "Pilgrimage to the End of the World" was an enjoyable and necessary part of that process. Conrad Rudolph's book on the Camino de Santiago has four parts: 1) some historical ...

The Pilgrim's Guide to Santiago de Compostela8 reviews

Italica Press, 2008

An Excellent Book by an Excellent Scholar
I personally knew Mr. Melczer both as my instructor and later as a friend and I simply cannot say enough about this man. Studying in Spain with Mr. Melczer in 1990 I can say he truly opened my eyes to history, art and culture. I took copious notes, but I realized I could never fully "absorb" the knowledge that this man imparted to his students. He inspired me to enter the field I am in now. This ...

America's Dream29 reviews
Esmeralda Santiago

Harper Perennial, 1997

America's Dream
America's dream is a really good book that reminds me of what some mothers go through when the father of their child abuses them and has a wife already. America goes through alot when she's in Vieques and working in a hotel La Casa del Fances. She has an achoholic mother, Ester and a rebelious and misunderstood daughter, Rosalind. She also has a abusive boyfriend, Correa, who has a wife and kids ...

Santiago de Chile Map by ITMB (International Travel Maps)2 reviews
ITMB Publishing

ITMB Publishing, 2006

Santiago Map Review
The Map is excellent for downtown areas, but cuts off important suburbs like Nunoua, where I happened to be staying. It also has only a tiny overview of the area outside the city limits.
