I recieved this book as a gift from a friend. It digs far back into VW's history from its conception by Ferdinand Porche through today's modern line-up. Good overview of whats available
An informative book but not a first book to buy if youre interested in VW hotrodding. It would, however be an interesting companion to Bill Fishers Hot to Hotrod VWs book. NO detailed dyno tests in this book and it might make inexperienced owners want to build a drag race engine for the street, in which case they will encounter lots of problems as drag engines are not meant for street use. ...

A lot to think about.
This book will definitley get the creative juices flowing when you are trying to decide how you want your beetle restoration to turn out. It covers all the popular "looks", from the ageless Cal-look to the modern german look, as well as buggies, bajas and replicas. A definite must have for a beetle fan.

While Keith may be an expert on the original Type 1 Beetle, I felt a bit disappointed by this book. Perhaps I was expecting more, but the book really doesn't go into too much detail, or at least not as much as I was hoping for. I can get more info on the New Beetle from NewBeetle.org Caveat Emptor
