Very, Very Good
I am an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, romance and historical novels. I found this entire series to be exceptional. I am an adult and these seemed to be written for a younger generation but I could not put these books down! If you would like some light fantasy reading that is different from many of the books out there, then this is for you.

Better than Stedman's or Dorlands
I have had a Stedman's and Taber's medical dictionary for years (20+) and they had gotten a bit long in the tooth so I bought this book and Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary as I thought Dorland's looked slightly better than Stedman's. I decided to compare definitions of a word in both books and Mosby's definition was impressive enough to have me make the purchase (amiodarone was the word, ...

Best Book For Independent Musician
If you are a independent musician, you can't afford NOT to have this book. This book is incomparable. I have made so many contacts and have been introduced to so many new services and and products. I am currently using to services to help aid in the distribution of my music that I found in the Indie Bible. The money I saved in one month, paid for the Indie Bible. Then you have the contacts. ...

wait, there's more
Lexi-Comp's Drug Information Handbook is the bomb. No nagging adds like the PDR; just the facts, ma'am. More eye friendly than previous editions, and still packed with about a gillion tables in the appendix. Drug names are now in red. This is the cat's meow; I probably use it once a day in patient care. Shipping and price are much better through Amazon than through the publisher.

Rocket Science for Children from 8 to 80
This is a wonderful way to introduce kids into the value of math. They will learn about aero dynamics to boot. It's not a 'math' book, it's just that you have to learn a few formulas to be able to do the more entertaining projects. Harry does a great job of explaining the how's and why's of Rocket science in an entertaining way. He also throws a little history in there. This print is older but it ...

Unquestionably My Favorite Holt Novel Yet.
I have read some Holt novels I didn't even feel were worth bothering to review because of my lukewarm attitude toward them. This is far from the case with On the Night of the Seventh Moon. If you don't like filthy romance books full of corny, eyerolling garbage like Stephanie Laurens seems to insist on dishing out, complete with their relentless bludgeonings of copulation scenes and weak plots, ...

A transformative experience
I don't know why this book called my name as I chanced upon it at a bookstore. But, it did. I picked it up, began reading, read at every opportunity, ordered the sequel before I was finished, moved right on to the sequel, and am now re-reading the first book. I even e-mailed Mitchell Chefitz (he answered my e-mail, by the way). I hardly recognize myself. This book is transformative. It took this ...

just a side note
I don't think it's a spoiler to say that Tal and Milla do not form a romance at any point in this series. In fact, I think the story is stronger for it. It is often too easy to become distracted by the element of romance, to the point where whoever the main character is interested in becomes merely important as a love element. It is of course possible to have a story where there is romance ...

Seventh Daughter
A fascinating book, full of history and culinary delights, "Seventh Daughter" is an autobiography of a Chinese woman, who, on a visit to San Francisco, started a restaurant that became a legend in the city. She had never been allowed in the kitchen as a young daughter in a traditional Chinese home. It combines her story along with recipes and hints for a well-stocked kitchen. The photography is ...

Preferable to the Lonely Planet guide. Indeed, one of the best travel guides I've ever encountered
For passengers on traveling on all or most of the Trans-Siberian Railway and visiting the cities along it, there are only two English-language travel guides. The Lonely Planet guide appeared in 2003 with a second edition in 2006, while Bryn Thomas updates his guide almost yearly and in 2007 it reached its seventh edition. I'm a two-time veteran of the Trans-Siberian, using the 1st edition of the ...

Excellent Adult Fiction
I put off reading this book for a long time, by the time I finally did read it I was glad I did. Dave Duncan crafts the most unique and interesting fantasy world I have ever experienced. It is based mostly on one premise, how the lack of something (I won't say what that something is) can change how a world/culture developes. The cultures and world is amazing. The characters compelling, the ...

Great Guide, but also buy a map
I used this book for planning a 2 day visit to Sedona. I was extremely happy with the format. It has 2 pages per hike, with a high quality photo of what to expect for views, driving/hiking distance/time, as well as selections of their favorites. We didn't visit long enough to do a lot of the hikes, but we truly felt that we were able to select 3 hikes that were perfectly suited to our tastes ...

Great Intro to Java and a lasting Reference
This book is a soup to nuts coverage of the Java programming language. I used it to learn (we primarily use C/C++ in Electrical and Computer Engineering) and code Java for a Senior Programming Project. It's a fantastic reference and I highly recommend their C/C++ book if you're learning those languages (that's how I knew to look for a Java version). Deitel makes fantastic books.

4 years of college between the covers
The fun thing about this book is that it has everthing you learned (or should have learned) getting your Engineering degree. It's all there! It usually takes some time to sort thru what all the vaiables mean, and often you have to flip between look up tables, but it is so charming to find EVERYTHING in one spot in a book so small you can carry it in your front pocket.

New Pharmaceutical Sales Representative!
What a superior career guide! After looking at several books, I found Ms. Williams' Insider's Guide... and used it to prepare for a pharmaceutical sales career. I wasn't surprised by a single interview question. This book is the best ...

Best single reference
This is an excellent work. It is unfortunate that in some fields, the tendency is to always prefer the latest and greatest. This lexicon was produced in the late 19th Century, but is still the best single resource one can get. The Intermediate Lexicon of Liddell and Scott has just the right balance between portability and coverage. The massive LSJ is updated and covers everything, but ...
