Anne Frank and Me81 reviews
Cherie Bennett, Jeff Gottesfeld

Putnam Juvenile, 2001

AWESOME BOOK!
Anne Frank and Me was an exceptional book and I enjoyed it very much. I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't love following Nicole through her journey starting in the 90's and ending up in year of 1942. I've read it twice and I know I'll set it down for a few months, then read it again! I recommend this to anyone with a heart! Enjoy Anne Frank and Me. Stephanie A. Zen Shorts (Caldecott Honor Book)78 reviews

Scholastic Press, 2005

Wonderful. Buy this book!
Moral philosophy for kids - and their parents. My three year old likes the stories as much as I do. The messages are delivered simply so that you take from them your own meaning to your degree of understanding. We try to read Zen Shorts in the mornings to remind us of more peaceful ways to approach the day. I really can't recommend this book enough.

Swallows And Amazons54 reviews
Arthur Ransome

BBC Audiobooks, 2004

Enchanting and Realistic
Enchanting It's hard to explain what makes this book so charming: The writing, the way the children and their relationships with each other are shown so clearly and believably, the very real adventures they have, the sense of place....but listing those traits doesn't do the book justice. It's also really funny in places! Ransome creates a world that is clearer and lighter and more enchanting ...

The Seven Silly Eaters61 reviews
Mary Ann Hoberman

Voyager Books, 2000

Silly fun which is a joy to read!
Typically, I am not in favor of books that show bad role models but the kids in this book are SILLY eaters and most of them are eating healthy foods, just not in a healthy way. (Can you imagine living ONLY on milk or applesauce? THAT'S SILLY-- kids will understand that!) What makes this a GREAT book is the language (the poetry is SO fun to read aloud) and the illustrations which show the toll ...

Siblings W/out Rivalry T68 reviews
Faber Etal

Simon & Schuster Audio, 1990

Helping Children Get Along
A wonderful book on helping siblings get along. But I also highly recommend for parents and teachers the book:Bully-Proofing Children: A Practical, Hands-On Guide to Stop Bullying. More than a bullying book, this really focuses on practical strategies, scripts, actual lessons and stories to teach children conflict resolution, friendship and communication skills; the importance of helping others ...

Ramona the Pest71 reviews

HarperCollins e-books, 2008

sooooo true to life!
How I missed this classic growing up, I'll never know. But my son has discovered the Ramona books, and they are wonderful and very true to life. Ramona's thought-processes and antics are so real, I now know that my son has been behaving like a normal kid! Cleary is so accurate in rendering the child's perspective and writing about it in a way that young children can identify with, that this book ...

Emily Of New Moon (Classic Books on Cassettes Collection) [UNABRIDGED] (Classic Books on Cassettes Collection)83 reviews
L. M. Montgomery

Audio Book Contractors, 1999

A Must for Girls of All Ages
From the opening pages the reader is submerged in Emily's world. In my mind Emily of New Moon is the begining of one of the best book trilogies ever written. A story about the courage it takes to be true to ones self no matter the opposition, the power of real determination and true friendship. One cannot help but be moved by the powerful truths, and innocent loveliness contained in this book. ...

Wait Till Helen Comes: A Ghost Story (Avon Camelot Books)155 reviews
Mary Downing Hahn

HarperTrophy, 1987

My most read book of all time.
I first read this book when I was about eight. I had gone to the library and was first captivated by the cover art. I read the book and fell in love with it. I became so involved with the story and the setting. I grew up always wanting to be an artist who lived in a converted church in the country with a cemetery in my back yard. (I am currently in artist who lives in a small town with a ...

Ramona and Her Mother (Ramona Quimby)32 reviews
Beverly Cleary

HarperCollins, 1979

The most obnoxious - yet entertaining - little sister in fiction!
Being seven-and-a-half-years-old (right now!) may seem like a simple task, but for second-grader, Ramona Quimby, it's proving to be a mix of difficulty and confusion. After all, she's between two strange ages - seven and eight - and can't figure out what she wants to do. Part of her is determined to stay her mother's little bunny, twitching her nose and being babied; while the other part wants to ...

Night of the Living Dummy (Goosebumps , Vol 7)31 reviews
R. L. Stine

Gareth Stevens Publishing, 1997

Wow! This is the best Night of the living dummy Goosebumps book ever
Wow, this book was awsome really awsome toatally triple awsome! I thought this was better than Night of the living dummy 2! I wonder why it shows Slappy on the cover of the book but the main ventriloquist dummy is Mr. Wood which on the other hand isn't as cool and evil as Slappy. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!!!

Otherwise Known as Sheila the Great37 reviews
Judy Blume

Puffin, 2007

The librarian recommended...and it worked!
My daughter is supposed to be reading chapter books but she can't get into them so doesn't finish them. On our last library visit, I asked for help from the librarian. She said, "She just hasn't found the right book yet." This was one of the 'books' she suggested because it was audio. "Judy Blume is great and this should help spark her interest." So we got it. Well, not only did it spark her ...

Beezus and Ramona39 reviews
Beverly Cleary

HarperCollins, 1955

Clever, funny, and irresistible
Ask any older sibling about younger siblings, and you'll get one common answer...they're A-N-N-O-Y-I-N-G. They steal your toys, throw tantrums, and constantly steal the spotlight. But, even the most perturbed older siblings know that, deep down, it's impossible not to love younger sisters and brothers - sometimes. Nine-year-old Beatrice "Beezus" Quimby has always been a quiet soul, content ...

Katherine Applegate

Bt Bound, 1999

Nina won't tell...
Nina won't tell is an excellent book from the series Making Out, all written by Katherine Applegate. It deals with 2 separate topics that Nina won't talk about: 1.) Her crush on her sister's ex, Ben. He happens to also be her best friend's brother. 2.) Her uncle molesting her when she was much younger. With the help of her friends, Nina is able to confront her past and come out ten million ...

Seven from Heaven: The Miracle of the McCaughey Septuplets31 reviews
Kenny McCaughey, Bobbi McCaughey, ...

Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1998

Faithful
This is the best book that I've read in a long time that expresses faith in an ordinary, loving person such as Bobbi. (I didn't mean that as an offense) She has done the right thing by glorifying God in the press and in the book. I commend her efforts, because our God is an awesome God, and if we believe and have faith, He will supply ALL our needs, and He has kept His promise to her and her ...
