A peak into the Black experience.
Christmas is a time filled with traditions mostly associated with European values. Many families in this country come from different cultures and do not feel that they fit or are comfortable with the traditional celebrations. This book offers a peak into one Black families experience during the holiday times. Within the story are samples of African values of character and bravery. There is a ...

Best of the Goosebumps Series- By Adam (age 9)
The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena is the best book I've read by R.L.Stine. I don't know why I like it so much. The story had so many unexpected surprises. It was great.

The product was bought for graduate class. I could have saved my money by dusting off a copy of my undergrad textbook. That is not the fault of the publisher, that is the fault of the college!!! I would recommend the book for college bound students.

Stumbling Into High Treason
Of all the major spy stories to break open in the last thirty years, the case of John Boyce and Andrew Dalton Lee has to take the prize and the most troubling in its larger implications. Other spies like Aldrich Ames or Robert Hanssen were disillusioned middle aged bureucrats whose spying was an outlet for their frustration as well as a source of additional income. Boyce and Dalton, however, ...

A great snow day story, nothing more than that
My 3 yr old son absolutely loves this book and I was pleasantly surprised with the simple rhyming story and how nice it reads aloud. I couldn't disagree more with a previous reviewer's insinuation that this book is depicting a hidden sexual message simply because the two snowmen are male at the end. Last time I checked two men ("snow" or of any other type) can be friends without it meaning ...

We're all crazy. We're restless spirits that cannot find their way home.
Extra Information: The first two books for this Harry Hole series The Bat Man and The Cockroaches have not been produced for translation at this time. The Redbreast: A Novel would be the third book in this series; if you were to start this series my recommendation would be from The Redbreast. The series then follows through in order with Nemesis: A Novel (Harry Hole), The Devil's Star: A Novel, ...

Memories
My husband was given this book when he was little. We have his original copy, but I was excited to find this and share it with my side of the family. My husband grew up in the Netherlands, so it's fun that this book is good in any language! My kids (2y and 5y) love creating the story for themselves.

The Snowman: 20th Anniversary picture book
The snowman is a picture book (no words at all). It is set out like a comic book and tells a story about a boy who builds a snowman which then comes to life in the night and they have an adventure together. I bought it for my 4 year old son and he loved it. The pictures are beautiful and I think it is appealing to all children over the age of 3. Lisa Pisanic (...)

"Snowman" a chilling, suspenseful mystery with relatable, realistic characters.
When body parts were found in the sewer pipes at the Castro restaurant where Tim Snow usually works, he was just recovering from injuries suffered in his last adventure with "bad guys." His boyfriend Nick, helping out the gay owners of the restaurant, made the discovery, but it is Tim's Aunt Ruth and Nicki's author grandmother, Amanda Musgrove, who stumble on the possible crime scene, and lead ...

Good Book!
This book may be small, but it has a big meaning. It's about a girl named Sadie who made a snowman in her back yard. Unfortunately, some birds ate the "eyes", a squirrel ate the "nose", and a raccoon stole the "mouth", and the snowman melted down. So the next time it snowed, Sadie made the snowman all over again, but the same thing happened again. The animals stole all the ingredients, and ...

from Dennis the Mennace to No David by David Shannon
Martin MacGregor is as ingenious as Dennis the Menace always was, as typical a boy as David Shannon's David, and as delightful to read or listen to. I have been reading this aloud for the last week to our pre-K children on the bookmobile and they love it. Teacher's seem to enjoy it as well. Delightfully colorful pictures add to the fun, and this story helps children realize we all make ...

Modern, cool detective
Jigsaw Jones is a modern detective. He talks like children talk today, he is "cool", and children can identify with him. It would be unfair to say that "The case of the Christmas Snowman" is his best case ever because all of Jigsaw's cases are good. My children love him and collect all his books, this one is no exception.

Imagination just makes things ugly
My kids used to always come up with their own snowmen, but they were so tacky! The faces were always a little lopsided, the stick arms were never the same length, and often the scarf and hat didn't match. Ugh! I was so embarrassed that I often just stayed inside until the mercury hit 60. I can't imagine what the neighbors were thinking! NOW this kit ensures that everything about my kids' snowmen ...

This book is a true gem
The book offers insight into the most important jewelry designs and the artistic talents of their creators. It gives an overview and biographies of the most important jewelry artists of the recent history and how their businesses got started: Cartier, Tiffany, Van Cleef and Arpels, Lalique, Verdura, Bulgari, Boucheron etc. The photos are wonderful; I only wish there were more of them. A great ...

Frosty the Snowman
Frosty is a timeless classic. The illustrations (although understandably somewhat dated) are lovely watercolour like drawings of happy children in a winter wonderland. Children enjoy having this story read to them. Variations of the origianl are available in text and video, but the best is definitely the original book.
