Court Oracles in the Psalms : The So-Called Royal Psalms in their Ancient Near Eastern Context (Society of ...2 reviews
Scott R. A. Starbuck

Scholars Press, 1999

Brilliant!
This book was thoroughly fascinating. As I was reading it I felt as if I was being given a guided tour through the world's great museums and their collections of Egyptian, Hittite, and Mesopotamian artifacts. Admittedly, at first I was a little daunted since it appeared very specialized. I was delighted to discover that the author (Starbuck) has done a wonderful job of summarizing and ...

My So-Called Freelance Life: How to Survive and Thrive as a Creative Professional for Hire2 reviews
Michelle Goodman

Seal Press, 2008

Your FABULOUS So Called Freelance Life
I read Michelle's last book, The Anti 9-to-5 Guide, and loved it, so I was eager to read this her new one. I have to say that she did not disappoint. Her candor is refreshing, as is her contemporary yet tried-and-true advice for those of us in the freelance trenches. Some stuff in here I'd never thought of, like renting a spot in an office co-op to avoid climbing the walls with loneliness. ...

The Mask of Sanity: An Attempt to Clarify Some Issues About the So Called Psychopathic Personality17 reviews
Hervey M. Cleckley

Emily S. Cleckley, 1988

A book that's ahead of it's time
I really recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject. His case histories are a book in themselves and capture the soul of a psychopath so well. A very thorough book that examines every aspect of the condition, I am impressed by his attempt to even explore historical and literary references. Ahead of it's time because his conclusions cannot be shaken even now. A much better book than ...

My So-called Digital Life: 2,000 Teenagers, 300 Cameras, and 30 Days to Document Their World2 reviews
Bob Pletka, 2007

I recommend this book
This book is likable for several different reasons....It provides a social anthropology of children and teens and allows readers to peer into the lives of diverse teens. Some quotes are eye opening and others are confirming of my perceptions of teens. The photos selected are very good and stand on their own merit. I like how this book is written and photographed by teens, so it's not like ...

Gratia et Certamen: The Relationship Between Grace and Free Will in the Discussion of Augustine with the ...2 reviews
Donato Ogliari

Peeters, 2004

Awesome work
Donato Ogliari, OSB, wrote this book as his doctoral dissertation at the University of Louvain, Belgium. As of today, it is the most authoritative and scholarly work in the English language about the initial phase of the Semipelagian controversy. 436 pages long; a 38 pages bibliography; 243 pages devoted to the background of the doctrine of predestination and to a critical assessment of ...

The So-Called Death of Aunt Faye & Other Stories2 reviews
E.L. Titus

Xlibris Corporation, 2001

Every Problem Creates a New One
In the above, I believe borrowed from William S. Burroughs, we have a succinct statement of what's really going on in our processed world. Mr. Titus has his pen pricking at the vein of our modern condition as it were. Not to say that it won't be fun. It is. It should or will be illegal. Think Mark Pahualaniak and Mark Leyner and maybe Doestoevski if he wrote for the SF Chronicle (and NOT the ...

Job-Hunting for the So-Called Handicapped or People Who Have Disabilities7 reviews
Richard Nelson Bolles, Dale Susan Brown

Ten Speed Press, 2001

A Wonderful Book
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. Written by Dale Susan Brown and Richard Nelson Bolles(Author of What Color is Your Parachute), it is a simple and concise guide to finding a job if you have a disability. It pulls no punches and tells it the way it is. It gives simple, concise advice on how to conduct a job search, and what to do in an interview. It tells you how keep a ...

The Grand Demonstration: A Bibical Study of the So-Called Problem of Evil1 review
Jay Edward Adams

If there is a God why is there evil? Adams gives you the answer!
Jay Adams, first-class theologian and highly gifted writer gives you the biblical answer in a very easy-to-understand way. I love it! Also excellent: Competent to Counsel

My So-Called Love Life5 reviews

Steeple Hill Love Inspired, 2006

My socalled love life
This was the first time a read a book by this author, but not the last. Usually, the main problem i have with Christian romance novels is the cheese factor, but this one was good, very little cheese to speak of. The characters were fun, real, and easy to relate to. Very funny chick lit, with not your typical characters. I finished this book in a day, laughing through most of it.

Toxemia explained: The true interpretation of the cause of disease : how to cure is an obvious sequence : an ...5 reviews
John Henry Tilden

Printed by F.J. Wolf, 1939

Outstanding!
Dr. Tilden provides an elegant theory of what Antoine Bechamp, Royal Rife, Gaston Neassens, and even Florence Nightinggale proved with their observations - it is the medium. The elegance stems from its simplicity, the logic is difficult to refute. If you've questioned mainstream medical thought concerning disease (not broken bones, gunshot wounds, blunt trauma, etc) and found it lacking, take ...

So-Called Dollars1 review
Harold E. Hibler & Charles V. Kappen

Coin & Currency Institute, Inc., 2008

At long last, an update of So-Called Dollars!
So it took 45 years but at long last we have the official second edition of the title 'So-Called Dollars.' So-Called Dollars are roughly defined as silver dollar sized medals that are not issued as trade tokens or storecards; by schools, coin clubs, the military or political organizations/candidates and have been issued in at least one form of metal. The first book was issued in 1963 by ...

The true story of the so-called love letters of Mrs. Piozzi,: "in defence of an elderly lady",1 review
Percival Merritt

Harvard University Press, 1927

The Truth of Mrs. Piozzi
I highly reccomend this book to any fans of Piozzi or Johnson. It takes the odd position of defending Piozzi for re-marrying as opposed to the classic view that she betrayed her husband and children for love. This book cannot be missed, it will and should be a cornerstone of biographical information about Piozzi.

The reviewers reviewed; a supplement to the War between the states, etc., with an appendix in review of ...1 review
Michigan Historical Reprint Series

Scholarly Publishing Office, University of Michigan Library, 2005

Review by Edward Howell Reynolds
Having already written one review I am doins so for a second time, and am a little perplexed that you would treat my first review so lightly as to trash it. As I have now read everything that Alexander H. Stephens had published, including his History of the United States including its lengthy Index, I would highly recommend this volume as being very insightful into the mind of a most gifted ...

So-called dollars: An illustrated standard catalog with valuations,1 review
Harold E Hibler

Coin and Currency Institute, 1963

Still THE primary reference even after 40+ years
Forty plus years after this landmark reference was published, this remains the single most authoritative and comprehensive reference book on this fascinating branch of exonumia. Although various attempts have been made to expand and update this reference (via a 24 pps. price supplement in 1984 among others), to date nobody has had the wherewithal to actually produce another book that can ...

My So-called Normal Life14 reviews
Erin Zammett

Gerald Duckworth & Co Ltd, 2005

Much more interesting than you would guess!
I read all of Erin Zammett's columns in Glamour magazine, so when I came across this book I hesitated to read it - I didn't want to re-read everything that was in the columns. Plus, I thought, how interesting could reading about someone's cancer treatments be? Turns out, very interesting. That's because this book is about much more than just Erin's cancer treatments. It's about her life as a ...

THE SUPREME WISDOM: Solution To The So-Called Negroes Problem1 review
Elijah Muhammad

Secretarius Memps Publications, 2006

A must read for all interested in N.G.E., & N.O.I.
The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad gives short, but detailed knowledge on a variety of topics. The most suprising for myself is when he states that the Mother Ship can be seen two days out of the week. Volumes 1 & 2 contain some repeated information, but review never hurt anyone. Check it out. Find out who you are, and also who you are not! Not a book for those who cant handle blatant truth. ...

The Coming: The Bible's Ident of "So-Called" UFOs6 reviews
Jamie Lance

RJ Publishing Company, 2002

AWESOME THEORY!!!
Every ufo buff should read this book. This book deals with what the Bible says about the so called ufos, abductions, cattle mutilation, and what the Old and New Testament say about the identity and number of ufos that will be involved in the final war the Bible says is going to happen. The first half of this book deals with intersting ufo stories of people reporting ufos and people being abducted. ...

The So-called Deuteronomistic History: A Sociological, HIstorical and Literary Introduction1 review
Thomas C. Romer

T. & T. Clark Publishers, 2006

A New Way of Looking at the Bible
This book gave me a new insight into who the Bible was formed. Now I wonder who was inspired. Was it only the original writer, or was the scribe who added his own material also inspired? This book which is very detailed also freed me from believing every word as factual, rather than a way of describing theological truths.

So-called Dollars, an illustrated Standard Catalog with Valuations1 review
Harold E. Hibler and Charles V. Kappen

coin and Currency Institute, 1963

It's the so-called bible of the funnest branch of numismatics ever
This landmark reference was edited by two men, Hibler and Kappen back in 1963. Their stated aim was to catalogue a series of commemorative medals that fit within eight loose rules regarding size, material and subject matter. Roughly speaking the medals fall into three broad categories: commmemorative and exposition medals of national significance, local significance and ersatz monetary issues. ...
