Oh, What a Busy Day50 reviews
Gyo Fujikawa

Sterling, 2010

Most Memorable Book from Childhood
I was about 5 years old when I discovered this book, and I remember that I would check it out from the library, keep it for 2 weeks, and then renew it. The library had a rule about how many times you could renew before it had to sit on the shelf for a week. If no one else had renewed it, I would snatch it up as soon as I was allowed. This is absolutely my favorite book from childhood. I would ...

Creative Bead Weaving: A Contemporary Guide to Classic Off-Loom Stitches33 reviews
Carol Wilcox Wells

Sterling, 1996

2nd Best Beading Book
I've only found 1 other bead weaving book as good as this one and it's also by Carol Wilcox Wells, "The Art and Elegance of Beadweaving". This one has great diagrams, guidance on what beads and colors to use, and a beautiful gallery of projects to do and ones to be inspired by. It is also a great buy in paperback. My advice is buy both of her books.

The Complete Metalsmith: An Illustrated Handbook40 reviews
Tim McCreight

The Complete Metalsmith
This has to be one of the most complete, well written, easy to understand books, on metalsmithing I have seen.

Secret Hiding Places: (For Clever Kids)45 reviews
Mark Shulman

Sterling, 2001

Really good. REALLY really good.
I have a sister who can't keep her hands off my things. I have really tried hard to be nice but my parents think I'm picking on her if I complain because she is smaller. So when I saw this in the book store I figured it had to be for me. I am so glad I found this book. It is filled with great ideas about hiding what you own and about making great projects too. You will be able to turn any little ...

Feng Shui Your Life71 reviews
Jayme Barrett

Flawless Feng Shui
This is a really beautiful book. Informative and easy to follow, it is filled with photographs and ideas. You'll learn and read easy suggestions for improving each part of your bagua, no matter what part of your house it falls in (bathroom, kitchen, etc.). There's also a portion in each section which will help you create a "manifestation board", which will help motivate you and focus ...

Masters of Deception: Escher, Dali & the Artists of Optical Illusion40 reviews
Al Seckel

Sterling, 2004

Beautifully Done Book for a Range of Ages
My ten year old son and I both appreciate great art and optical illusions. Two of my favorite artists are Dali and Escher. I purchased this book as a present for my son but I was concerned he would find it too much to take in. He did not. He loves it and loves reading page by page. We talk about the artists and their styles and which ones are our favorites. The selection of artists is ...

Where Peace Lives38 reviews
Debbie Robins

Sterling & Ross, Cambridge House Press, 2007

for a better world.....
Where Peace Lives is a remarkable book. Told in entertaining story narrative the message is conveyed on many levels. Pictures are painted with words. There are whimsical, fairy tale type images of animated characters used to take us on a journey to far away places with issues familiar in our world. While appropriate and entertaining for a child, the book has even more applications for adults ...

Sometimes I Like to Curl Up in a Ball46 reviews
Vicki Churchill, Charles Fuge

Sterling, 2001

Joyful!
I've been reading this to my 13-month old son for months because, well, I love it. He's just now coming around to it, though, pointing out all of the animals and enjoying the terrific cadence of the words. Wombat is a cheerful, fun character and the illustrations of the other animals and nature are really rich and colorful. This is solidly in my top 3 board books ever and has been in steady ...

Strangely Enough26 reviews
C.B. Colby

Sterling, 1972

A Favorite from my Childhood
Like most of you here, I have the mid 70s edition of Strangely Enough! that I bought from Scholastic for 75 cents. (Yes, the price is still attached to the front!) I have always enjoyed spooky stories that would scare you. The one I remember best is the story of the painting in the cavern. Don't know how many times I have thought about this story over the years and remember when I read it the ...

Wanderer27 reviews
Sterling Hayden

Norton, 1977

Wanderer is Sailing
I had the very honor and pleasure to meet Stering Hayden at Mystic Seaport in 1982, just prior to his death. What a wonderful and interesting man. His life, is what many wish they had the guts to do, but always hang back. We had some things in comman, he had been in the Marine Corps, I served for 22 years, he had sailed for many years, I also had sailed for approx 25 years,( nothing compared to ...

Gourds: Southwest Gourd Techniques & Projects from Simple to Sophisticated28 reviews
Bonnie Gibson

Sterling, 2007

A must for learning and creating gourd art
This book was full of excellent ideas on how to craft gourds. There are many helpful tips on growing, woodburning, painting, weaving styles, carving, and designing gourds. The illustrations and photos were very helpful. As a beginner, I learned quite a bit from this book. I would recommend this book highly.

I Know a Rhino32 reviews
Charles Fuge

Sterling, 2003

An Every Night Read at our House!
I have been reading this book more than once a night to my daughter since she was about 6 months old. At nearly two years she fills in the sentences, can match the picture with any of the words, and kisses the main character good night when the book is over! It's catchy, not to wordy, moves quickly, and doesn't have a moral- which I sometimes appreciate!!

The Book of Harry Potter Trifles, Trivias, and Particularities25 reviews
Racheline Maltese

Sterling & Ross Publishers, 2007

great trivia book for fans
It's surprising how much I missed in the series. We've read the books multiple times, saw every movie. This trivia book even covers the small accessory books, Quiddich and Fantiastic Beasts. Bome up on the series. Surprised at how many names I missed.

Encyclopedia Of German Tanks Of World War Two: The Complete Illustrated Dictionary of German Battle ...28 reviews
Peter Chamberlain, Hilary Doyle

Sterling, 1999

Excellent source of reference
This book remains one of the best sources of reference regarding German military vehicles during the Second World War. However, it should not be mistaken like some of the previous reviewers that this book is some sort of history book on the German forces. If anyone wishes to read how well the Panther or a Tiger did in combat, read else where. This book remains a data reference source. In this ...

The Unforsaken Hiero28 reviews
Sterling E. Lanier

Random House Inc (T), 1983

SOME OF THE BEST IN THIS GENRE
Like the reviewer "Catfish," I keep coming back to this book and it's predecessor "Hiero's Journey." This work is also on my top ten list of all time bests. I am always a bit surprised that more have not read them. The story line is almost flawless and the character development is acute. Lanier's smooth prose just tops it off. This is one of those works which I reread every year or so. ...
