THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ!!!!!!!!!!!
How many books do you read that compel you to want to send it to everyone you know? THIS BOOK IS SUCH A BOOK. This work completely transcends it's genre. At the risk of sounding over-the-top, if you are a citizen of this Planet, you should read this book. It is dense with nugget after nugget of profound Wisdom and Insight into the human condition. Let's face it, the World we live in poses very ...
Not Your Parents' Offering Plate: A New Vision for Financial Stewardship

Abingdon Press, 2008
If you need a kick start for your stewardship efforts
then this is the book that you should read. I've been working at stewardship for over 20 years w/in my church. This book fired me up to look at our efforts compared to non profits, something I have been unwilling to do, and has energized our leadership with new ideas and approaches. At the very least, the following quote should make you think- ". . .you are not in the business to balance ...

Deming All Over Again - We Never Learn
Although he captured me with his initial quote from Shakespeare's Richard III as rationale for a practical means to insure corporate survival, I found Peter Block to be the most refreshing thinker I've yet had the privilege to study. I used this book in a Doc course where we included a fairly lengthy conference call with Block, thus giving our rather small cohort (12 of us) a good opportunity to ...

Yow - this is DENSE with survey/research data
It's a slow read because of the amount of data presented, but wow is it informative! Densely packed in a way that will make the number-and-table-phobic anxious, but offers a fairly definitive picture of the state of giving in the United States. Worth reading for any church leader - actually, it's not just "worth reading", I think it should be considered essential. So much has changed in the ...

Opened my eyes!
This book has changed the way that I think of money. I really and truly thought that I didn't spend a lot of money. So, I started the 21 day fast and saw that not only did I spend money but I did so without thinking. Now each time I pull out my debit card and certainly my credit card I think, what would Michelle say? Is this a need or a want? I had not realized that I spend $90.00 a month, yes, ...

A Real Treasure
[...]. God is good, and He has richly blessed all of His children. The challenge for us is to make sure that we are being a blessing with the blessings that God has entrusted to us. In these hard economic times facing the church, we all need a little encouragement to make sure that we are giving by faith and giving faithfully. Desiring to give generously is good so long as we actually do give as ...

"Ask, Thank, Tell"
Undoubtedly the best guide to congregations wishing to help people on their faith journey I have ever read. It is a pragmatic and inspirational guide to stewardship that every Christian should read.
Giving to God: The Bible's Good News about Living a Generous Life

Fantastic - Brilliant
I really enjoyed reading this book. The very unique but biblical position that the author takes on giving is totally refreshing. So many books just want to press on with tithing or guilt trip stewardship, but this refreshing look at the whole concept made me want to give even more - not just money but time. We all need to consider that everything we have is a gift from God and how we use all ...
Creating Congregations of Generous People

ITS THE PEOPLE AS MUCH AS THE MONEY
Mike Durall's slim but succulent guide to increasing and stimulating congregational giving is a welcome tonic when fundraising bibles seem to focus more on technique and need than motivation and virtue. Durall encourages us to aim to create congregations of generous people not as a ruse to open wallets but because - as he illustrates and explains well - only generous people in spirit and ethos ...

No book has ever had such an impact on my life! Its Changed Me.
This book is recommended for all Christians. Never have I ever been so encouraged to give. I used to work at a minimum paying job where I managed to sacrifice over $4,000 in one years giving. Minimum pay doesn't pay much and it was quite a sacrifice. But I knew that I couldn't take it with me, so I sent it on ahead. I'm now a missionary and I owe it to this book because it transformed my ...

Money Matters Workbook for Teens (ages 11-14)
Moody Publishers, 1998
Whether a teenager makes $2, $20, or even $200 a week, it's easy for him or her to blow that hard-earned cash. This workbook shows how a person can save money to buy things later, to have money in the bank, and end up with enough to help others.

Great book but was updated in 2009
We use this book in a financial class my husband and I lead together. Almost all of our "students" have appreciated this book so much they have purchased it to have a copy of their own. However, disappointed that only an old version is currently being offered here. This book was updated for 2009 most recently.

The One Book Every Pastor Needs to Read on Church Finances
Just finished Money Matters in Church by Aubrey Malphurs and Steve Stroope. I read it for two reasons, one, it was assigned in my lead pastor coaching network and, two, for help in an upcoming series at Revolution. It is by far the most helpful and thorough book on the topic of money, stewardship and the church I have come across. Malphurs is a professor, so he brings with him a host of ...

Excellent Book
I've always been a faithful tither, so I found this book to be very interesting. It validates a practice I've believed in most of my Christian life. While it is not an in depth treatise on tithing, the author masterfully makes his point by sharing the stories of others who have been faithful in tithing and how it has affected their lives. The author is careful not to turn tithing into a ...

Excellent content!
Although not amazingly innovative (which would have taken it to a five star rating), content like this never gets old. Christian leaders need to read a book like this once a year from all sorts of different authors. I found the content compelling, convicting, and encouraging. Put this book on your wish list right now.

Best book on generous giving that I've ever read!
This is a book that tackles the difficult topic of money and the church. Stanley does a great job of answering the "why"... rather than just the "what". It is one of the few books that approaches generous giving w/o being manipulative, using guilt, or trying to make you feel less spiritual because you struggle in this area.
