Excellant account of housing crisis
The Greatest Trade Ever, has been the best book I have read about the housing crisis and Wall Street's take on the counter-argument to the booming real estate market. Zuckerman brings in multiple players from across the country all betting against the housing market and how their trades panned out. After reading House of Cards and A Colossal Failure of Common Sense, I believe Zuckerman's ...

The author is a lightning rod, but this book shouldn't be.
I came across this book by accident while trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with me and my gut. I read it, and decided to give gluten free living a try. Boy howdy, I'm glad I did. And I'm glad I had this book to help me. I don't know whether or not I have celiac disease, but I have no intention of eating gluten for a very long time as I'm experiencing so much relief from symptoms I ...

Well Written Well Researched...
I work in the industry and see Charles more often than not on my CNBC feed. Charles was to me a sort of fellow who was pretty even keel. When I received a copy of the book I was both interested and wondering if Charles would go over the top in terms trying to get your attention. What I read was an impressive book. The writing style was intelligent and not flamboyant. This book was neither in ...

Great classic
What a funny book describing to readers the way Wall Street and its customers behave, think, and act. Even thought it was written in 1940, I still found it relevant today because people never change as far as temptation, fear, and greed are concerned. This book really shows true reality of stock market investing. Customers are excited about the possible riches investing can generate and Wall ...

This book, like the E Street Band, ROCKS!!!
This is the most rockin', raunchy, soulful rock book I've read since Rock Scully's Living With The Dead. Yah, so every word may not be true. Springsteen's Santa Claus rap during Santa Claus is Coming to Town isn't true either -- does that make it any less rock 'n roll? F*(% the negative reviews -- get this book dammit! It's a blast, and you'll love The Big Man even more after you read it.

WWII Insight - European Treasures
A fabulous insight into what else went on during WWII. Most instructive about the treasures of Europe. And the evilness of the Germans at the time. We thought we knew a lot about the treasures, but the book really opened our minds. J&J

Wonderful work, stunning, a real delight,
This is a beautiful book. It truly does live up to expectations. We laughed at the wiggling Elmo and smiled and remembered at how fun Bert and Ernie are and Big Bird has an impressive paper design, though I personally love the end pages, it was a little treat to see all the gang together - it's not everyone, but the principle Muppet cast are present and that is enough to spark stories and games ...

Anatomy of a Financial Meltdown
How does a global economy become crippled when so many supposedly savvy power brokers are calling the shots? In rehashing the worst ecomonic meltdown since The Great Depression, Andrew Sorkin's riveting recollection describes a chilling scenario filled with outrageously bad judgment, greed and hubris; in the end, Wall Street fell to its knees in stunning magnitude. In the wreckage, some of ...

History of Sesame Street-40 years!
This book is excellent! I just received it on 11/19/09 and I am very pleased with my purchase! I really have enjoyed knowing the history of this educational children's TV program and I've enjoyed watching it myself! READING about it is even better, though! That way I have a clearer idea of how this program all came about and the people who put this program together! I thank you for putting ...

A lot of history....
There has been great debate over time whether the market can be predictable or if somehow there is a way to enlarge our future. That is the answer everyone wants to know. Many great people have tried to figure this out over time. John Bogle, Michael Jensen, Fischer Black, Eugene Fama, Milton Friedman, Harry Markowitz are just a few big players mentioned in this book. They all played a role in ...

This book needs more analysis and fewer stories written with a "novelistic verve". It is a chilling story but the "trove of colourful tidbits" tends to be distracting.

While it has been some time since I read Liars Poker it still brings a smile to my face by bringing back fond memories. What has renewed my interest and motivated me to write more of a validation than a review of Liars Poker was my current reading of one of Michaels other books - The money Culture. Having spent 42 years in municipal finance with, 23 of those years as a municipal bond ...

Inspirational! Banksy is a REAL artist!
My favorite quote from the book: "Any advertisement in public space that gives you no choice whether you see it or not is yours. It belongs to you. It's yours to take, re-arrange and re-use. Asking for permission is like asking to keep a rock someone just threw at your head." Real art should be FREE! Free of conceit, free to let the viewer interpret, free of profit as a motivation and free ...

This is a book for every office jock, wall street geek and average guy who thinks he knows something. What a treat it was to read and the photos are artistically well arranged. Fun book to read over and over
My daughter is 2 1/2 and she loves this book. Some nights she will want me to read it 5 times in a row. The pictures are colorful and catch her attention and she loves to study them. The rhyming in the book also is fun and she likes to help say the last words of each section. The book is also very inexpensive so I have found it to be a great buy. There is not too much wording on each page, ...

Great Overview of the 2nd Great Financial Depression
The author has provided us with an extensive rogues' gallery of crooks, thieves, and incompetents that have led us to our country's present financial disaster. She points out that the US taxpayer is already on the hook for $13 trillion of inadequately collateralized loans, financial securities hardly worth the paper they are printed on, and general financial trash scooped up by the federal ...

A Primer on Rhetoric v. Reality
"Obamanomics" is the title of two books on the economic platform of the Obama administration. Apparently the phrase has a nice catch to publishers. But in the hands of Timothy Carney, author of this book, "Obamanomics" is shorthand for corporatism; the use of big government regulations to support corporate profits. This, of course, is not how most commentators see the new administration. They ...
