buy new only!!
This is a wonderful book, but you have to buy it new! There's a code on the inside for the strengths quiz, and you cannot reuse the code. I had to buy StrengthsFinder 2.0--the new version--in order to get the quiz without repurchansing the same exact book twice. It would have been nice to know this....

Great Book
This is one of the best strength training books I have invested money and time into. It covers the dominant strength exercises in detail and includes great photos to enhance the learning process. This is well worth the money if you plan on getting strong and doing it the right way.

Middle School Teacher Raves
As a career middle school teacher, I know how challenging it can be to manage a classroom full of diverse learners. It is easy to focus on "fixing" what is wrong with kids. What Fox does in this book is offer a practical program to build on students' strengths. She shows us how to discover them with great activities and exercises and also makes a strong case that building on student strengths ...

"Strength for Life" is the simplest, most direct, and well written books on fitness and health ever on the market. As a personal trainer, I have read hundreds of fitness books with lots of information similar to what is in Shawn's book, but no other book I have read gives as simple a game plan for achieving Strength, and ultimately Health, as does "Strength for Life". This book is filled with ...

A MUST HAVE RESOURCE
Marcus Buckingham is brilliant! His research-profound! As a professional workplace trainer, I use this book and insist that my clients purchase copies for their management teams before I conduct their trainings. Yesterday's "Human Resources" is today's "Talent Management" and employment engagement! Another must-have is the previous book "Now, Discover Your Strengths" by Marcus Buckingham.

This book just makes sense
I was at first apprehensive about buying this book. After all, what would the Gallup Poll know about teaching? Well, it turns out that they know a lot. Being a "highly qualified teacher", i.e. having a license to teach a subject is not enough these days. Good teachers must also be able to "connect" to students. The authors are realistic and their findings are extremely helpful. For example, ...

Another 5 star review
This is a great entry or re-entry level book. I used it summer before last to prepare for a camping trip. At the time (alas) I had decent cardiovascular fitness but knew I wanted to improve upper body strength along with core and lower body fitness. I created a work out I could enjoy. If you are new to weights, she has a very sensible approach to starting. The models are obviously strong ...

Futurity Meets Creativity--The End of a Trilogy
That Hideous Strength is the culmination of Lewis's stylized creativity and his realizable mythology. This final book (in his acclaimed "space trilogy") introduces readers to a brilliant mundaness--a setting where both nothing and everything could happen simultaneously. It is a sleepy, stubborn, stubbornly sleepy novel that awakes to the furious dawn of Lewis's imagery and delicious plot. Lewis ...

A weight lifter sees the light
This book is worth twice the price. The accompanying DVD is also worth twice the price. It's a lot of information for the money! Background: until a couple of weeks ago I exclusively lifted weights for strength training. Then I hurt my back, and decided I needed to get some more dynamic training into my regimen. I bought a few medicine balls, and immediately hurt my back again! (In a ...

A positive, worthwhile, and encouraging model for a vital question
-The authors helped found the Positive Psychology movement, which hopes to supplement psychology's current medical model ("find what's wrong, then fix it") with a model for positive health ("find what's right, then encourage it"). Psychological health, which is not just an absence of disease, includes such things as character preparation, improved baseline happiness, realistic optimism, wisdom, ...

My Results
Eric Cressey knows how to get people bigger and stronger, period. I got to do the Maximum Strength Program last summer and during that time I had my 1RM deadlift go from 275 to 400lbs in four months. I am more mobile than ever and I am no longer in pain (used to be low back). I now have great posture and have built a great base of strength. This book outlines the four phases with multistep ...

This is one of the most useful books I have read recently
In fact, I purchased several copies as gifts. The online assessment is worth the price of this book. As a business coach, I have tremendous appreciation for the breadth of his Gallup-based research. When we focus on our strengths we become better. I strongly recommend this book for anyone interested in developing their career. I should add that his points about selecting a sales career that ...

Get this book. This book, along with Starting Strength is a must have for anyone who cares about weight lifting.
This book is essential to your training library. It, with Starting Strenth should provide all the information that anyone would ever need in regard to weight training. It does not have a bunch of references, but that does not mean this book is not reputable. This book simply does not need many outside references because Rippetoe and Kilgore ARE those references. Their credentials are ...

I LOVE this book!! Hiss Boo Sucks to all those who whine about it not including the woman's upper body.
