AMAZING...is not enough to describe this book.
This book was an amazing story. I read the first book Hunger Games and demanded to read the next book. Catching Fire is so enchanting in a way. Huge twists and surprises make you continue to turn the page over and over until you are done with the book. Read the first book first so you can enjoy this book as much as I did. Suzanne Collins is and amazing writer. There is a loss of words if you take ...

Districts, fighting, courage
"The Hunger Games" takes place many years from now, in North America. The land has been split into districts, and so many people are poor and can hardly get their hands on some food. The Hunger Games come along every year, and a boy and a girl are chosen from each district. These kids are placed in a setting where they fight for survival. The goal is to be the last one standing. It is a fight to ...

Another Winner from the Eat This Not That Series
My sister gave me the first guide in this series, and I have been collecting and using them ever since. Each one is filled with post-its and notes, and the suggestions are on my grocery list every week. I have slowly changed over from high fat, high sodium, high sugar foods to more nutritious (yet still delicious) alternatives. My biggest downfall was fast food joints and upscale restuarants. ...

Really Fun
This is a really fun book. I purchased it as a Christmas gift but started to glance at it. I was instantly hooked and had to read the whole thing myself. The author has really put some thought and time into this. Enjoyable and informative.

No "Cat's in the Cradle" sung here...
Growing up, I didn't have the greatest relationship with my father. He had emotional difficulties due to a frontal lobe injury and PTSD from the Korean War. For years I rode horses with him and endured his volatile temper until I was old enough to go my own way. So when I noticed a difficult father/son dynamic as a central theme in "Crazy for the Storm," I got it to see what I could glean from ...

Max Brooks is easily THE authority on zombies
Well I finally figured out what all the hype was about. The illustrations give the book a visual framing that make me want to reread World War Z with this imagery swirling in my head (also a duly excellent read). And for those that don't normally want to attach gory images to their zombie stories, be not afraid! These are good, even for the squeamish among us. I've been a fan of Max Brooks' work ...

Great book, great recipes
Bought this book and loved it so much that I bought it as a Christmas gift for someone. Most of the recipes are easy to make and taste good. A few recipes have hard to find ingredients but so far, I love everything I tried. This book is better than the second book, so if you have to choose, this is the one to buy.

We're next
There are lots of hypothetical "survival" manuals in print. Throw 'em out and buy this book if you want to know what you'll be dealing with day to day in a country with a collapsed economy. The author serves up a healthy dose of reality which people in the U.S.A. would do well to heed. No theory here - just practical, everyday information on staying alive and prospering while Rome burns. If ...

Enlighten yourself... a must read!
This book should be a required read. It enlightened me to things I never knew were happening. Although the stories are at times difficult to read and imagine ever happening, I couldn't put it down. This book is so engaging! I enjoyed learning about this time in history and about this boys experience. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in culture, history, true stories, etc. A great read!

Terrifying and heart-breaking
I just read it for the second time... I usually don't re-read books, but this one got me thinking... there's not much to say about it that hasn't already been said. It's sparse, bleak, utterly terrifying, gut-wrenching, heartbreaking... I still think the book will resonate most with parents- but if the by the end of this book you haven't choked up a little bit, you're not even human. McCarthy ...

Best survival guide
I own and love this book. It is a super comprehensive guide to surviving all sorts of extreme emergencies in a variety of geographic zones and climates. The author is an authority on survival, being the former survival instructor or the British SAS special forces ...

Hours of entertainment
I purchased this book for my rising first grade daughter for a long summer car trip. She read it for hours in the car, and now, months later, still reads it often. My son, a second grader, also really enjoys this book. We've read all of the Junie B. Jones books (well, many of them in audio version), so we were excited to find a new book, especially right before our trip. This book is typical ...

The author is a lightning rod, but this book shouldn't be.
I came across this book by accident while trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with me and my gut. I read it, and decided to give gluten free living a try. Boy howdy, I'm glad I did. And I'm glad I had this book to help me. I don't know whether or not I have celiac disease, but I have no intention of eating gluten for a very long time as I'm experiencing so much relief from symptoms I ...

ENDURANCE
"ENDURANCE", what a tale. It is hard to imagine a modern group of men from the civilized world enduring such an adventure. Surrounded by all our modern technology, modern civilized man is probably not capable of "enduring" such a physical and mental epic. Modern technology would not allow the "Endurance" epic to unfold, the crew would be rescued within hours. Ernest Shackleton's tough physical ...
